I don't know why the paint means anything. The ride was looking horrible and paint was starting to wear to the point of allowing corrosion. The same is true with Raptor and nobody has spoken much about the primer patches near Chickie and Pete's. Primer coats tend to be brighter than final coats, assuming they use two on coasters as they might buildings. They might have been looking to see how new paint stuck to old paint and tracks, etc. But none of this would speak to rides staying or being moved. They might move the ride to another park or another place at CP and obviously would paint it if that were the case, but could do so if it never moves as well.
I don't suppose you need permits from the city to dismantle a ride, or tear down other structures? Surely somebody among the nuttier types has checked?
I really like the idea of the Rougarou name and werewolf theme.....and Mantis sits right on top of a swampy area too! it fits in with the Louisiana folklore of the werewolf or "rougarou"
And I really hope CP has just scrapped the whole Lebron thing from any of the rides having their names changed. I never liked it, it's plain dumb. I hope they're not re-naming Mantis King James....
Oh and i dont want them re-naming any big coasters king james either....ugh

Unless they get out of renaming a ride by flipping the name to King James-or whatever-for the last three weeks of the season.....then convert it off-season.

There is an interesting rumor going around the marina that, if true, means there is much more news to come for 2015. It seems to tie in with the Mantis closing. If this is a refurbishment it would mean extensive changes to the ride making it virtually a new coaster. I think it's more likely though that the coaster is going to a different park (Dorney?) and something new (and big) is coming in it's place.
Care to explain the rumor?

I think the dark ride rumors are entirely in the minds of fans of such rides.
Maybe, but what's going in the current Point Pavilion space with utility markings then?

If I recall correctly, CP agreed to terms with the related government agencies to not fill-in more of the lagoon without adding more wetland someplace else. So I doubt we see anything that "fills" the water space.
This is also true but what's to stop from adding supports or footers inside the water/along the lagoon path perimeter ala Maverick's run by the Frontier bridge (where Swan Boats used to be located)?

The comments on the Facebook page are a cesspool."I heard from a Cedar Point source it's being renamed and converted to a flying or sit-down coaster."
"Yeah? I heard from a Cedar Point source that it's being removed for another coaster."
I find that to be the case with the comments on most facebook pages.
Anyone notice in the video, the grim reaper walks toward the woman hugging Mantis' train. Then she says "no, no you can't take it." Sounds an awful lot like new trains to me. The again, it could just mean removal of the ride. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out. Plus it mentions to "Take the last stand" in the description and during the video.
New for 2018... RMC Iron Horse!!!
