I think you're focusing way to hard on the fact that it won't be operational for 3 days. It's actually 6 operating days, but 14 additional destruction/construction days. Regardless, CP isn't closing it early without a reason.
Whoops Sorry!
I feel for you

So are they having some sort of "public execution" for mantis that day? Would be pretty cool if they pulled down a chunk of the track for the public to see or if they did it with some theatrics. On a side note bye bye mantis...don't let the door hit you on the way out...
"Milk was a bad choice..."
I know there is one thing that the marketing department failed to do with this "announcement" and that is convince me to buy season passes for my family. We just went Sunday for the first time this year and I was telling my wife that this announcement was coming today and after I would get passes and give them to the kids for Christmas. I'm not saying that's not going ultimately happen but I'd definitely not getting passes for 2015 until I know what's coming. As of today all we know is there will be one less coaster at the park for 2015.
I am calling a Mantis conversion and re-theme and an RMC of Mean Streak!! Heard it here first kids!!

^^ You mean ::looks around:: Rougarou Stew? That sure rolls off the tongue well. :)
I wonder how many times I'll have to read that name before I stop hearing it said in Scooby's voice?
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
I remain unconvinced that the ride could be turned into a seated coaster (though, if B&M has figured out a way to do so, I will stand corrected).
But assuming that were to happen... why? Phantom's Revenge, Iron Rattler, Twisted Cyclone... these all involve adding (or, in PR's case, removing) elements. The parks were able to promote an "old" coaster that provided a "new" ride experience. A seated Mantis is still Mantis. If one thinks Mantis is mediocre, a seated Mantis is still going to be mediocre.

It's just being renamed to king James.
Probably the most accurate post today.

It has been said before that we haven't seen any signs of construction to begin anywhere in the park. However, I was wondering if a new coaster could be replacing Mantis, while reusing the footers for Mantis' supports, while potentially having a different layout. That right there could save on time since footers do take a while to form.
I can't stop shaking my head.

I don't know, Mantis was built on flat land. Dorney is a very uneven place. I wouldn't mind Mantis being removed if we get that 500 footer in 2016/17 ;)
Personally, I think marketing is doing a great job at confusing us all. This year had so many different leads, and after the "announcement" I still don't know what is going on.
New for 2018... RMC Iron Horse!!!
No ideas. But I would love to go back through the 2015 thread and quote the ones who were adamant that Mantis was safe and was "doing just fine" the way it is....
^^^Right there with you..
Possible relocation to other parks are there. Just because Dorney is w/ CP on twitter is quite possibly nothing. Parks cross promote all the time..See CP with Carowinds recent announcement, etc.
But honestly I'd guess it's ganna get moved, but it does have potential to get scrapped or just sold, but nothing on Italintl just yet.
Keep calm and keep speculating I guess. But this was the announcement of the announcement..Right now it's going the way of PWX, DT, etc. Closing on XX date, get your last rides in, celebrate on it's closing day, etc. Then an announcement date after about 2015, there you have it. History tends to repeat itself, surprised people expect to see anything different.

Perhaps announcing 2015 additions/improvements may be part of the 19th October events? I'm sure the park management is well aware how "what's new next year" news helps drive season pass sales. Announcing the closing (?) of Mantis today and further announcements in mid-October would allow two rounds of media attention.

Chances are you have more information then most people on this site.. so I can see why you would be shaking your head.
No, I have no clue what the end game is. I just haven't paid much attention this year, and I don't talk to people as much as I used to given my proximity. I'm just in awe at how much people can let their imagination go.
