Mantis Future

What does it mean when the response to "how was your ride" is grunts, groans and "it hurts"?

The same thing your other metrics mean: absolutely nothing.

Just curious - how are my metrics now?

Still completely meaningless. Perhaps even more so with your embarrassingly immodest attitude.

Oh I'm not embarrassed, although the guy who said it will never happen might be.

2014 - Come get your last stand on Mantis before it gets squished.

2015 - See if you can stand up to King James.

So Mantis will no longer be at the park. At least as a stand up coaster... What happens next for 2015? When do we get that announcement?

I wonder if October 19th brings more than just the end(?) of Mantis. I'd guess Cleveland and Toledo media will be at the park that day, a fine opportunity to introduce what's new for 2015.

Even though I hate the ride, I love the color scheme on it. Probably one of the best paint jobs on a coaster ever in my opinion.

This forum is the perfect example of "those who know don't talk."

As for the ones who continually badgered others who simply were having fun speculating changes to Mantis... eat your words.

^THIS....

What?

Nothing is changing to Mantis..it's more than likely getting transferred to another CF park, or just scrapped. No changes specifically to the ride, just it's location and future..

^ Seriously? The park just announced it is closing forever on Oct. 19th. You don't call that a change?

I would bet that at the very least Mantis is getting a name change, paint, and floorless trains. There are plenty of references in the video that fit perfectly with this idea.

^^We never really dismissed or really badgered anyone over the removal deal here..the floorless conversion and repaint, etc. did catch some flack, rightfully.

I still say FUN isn't SIX. Repainting a coaster and slapping new trains on something isn't the way the chain operates, it's a very SIX thing to do, not a FUN thing.

Most of the discussion was centered around a group who says how easy a floorless conversion would be, just pop some new trains on that track, and presto - instant top 10 steel coaster in the world. Whereas another group was saying they did not think it is that simple to do.

So instead of telling people haha I was right... perhaps the floorless folks should hold off on the celebration as the steel that is currently Mantis may just end up at the scrap yard...

I remain unconvinced that Mantis could be easily transformed into a seated coaster (though if wrong, I have a serving of crow at hand). Beyond the reasons stated: what would be the point? If people don't like Mantis, as many people here say, what's the point of making a coaster people don't like to ride into a coaster people don't like to ride, but can ride sitting down?

I'd like to see Mantis get relocated to another park, likely with a different paint scheme and new name.

Exactly.

We have either: Scrapyard, sold to some other park, or transferred somewhere in the chain. Other parks have yet to make an announcement, Mantis could be part of that announcement. See KI, MiA, Dorney..all have had transferred rides that they marketed as new for the upcoming season.

It staying on point, I doubt it..I think hey, here's the last day to ride, it's shutdown, and soon after announcement for '15.

Lets look at track records. DT/SS anouncement 13JUL for a 29JUL closure. Then 06AUG-29AUG it was demolished, while GK was announced 13AUG.

Or PWX, 19AUG announcement of it's closure, and Dinos addition, last ride concluded 05SEP.

History repeated itself, I'm sure I could go back even further..

Transferred somewhere in the chain, I hope. I've got my fingers crossed that it'll go to MiA. It deserves to have at least one B&M.

Also, have there ever been any B&M coasters that have been permanently demolished? If not, I'd hate to see Mantis become the first.

noggin's avatar

MiA deserves to have whatever it needs to continue to be a very profitable park for the chain. Is that Mantis? ....maybe. Maybe not.

Well, okay, that was more my opinion speaking, haha. :) Since I live in Michigan, I'd really like to see MiA get a B&M.
