Ship it to Dorney Park, or Michigan's Adventure.....new coaster built in its place at Cedar Point. There ya go! ;)

Yes. You are biased. Mantis may be a terrible ride by any enthusiast's definition. The stand up 'gimmick' may be over, by any enthusiast's definition. You're looking at the park through enthusiast-colored glasses.
Partially true. While I would love to see a few rides replaced I know it wont happen. I've taken many people to Cedar Point with me and after a ride on Mantis all have told me what a terrible ride Mantis was without my coaxing. They also said they expected much more of a ride at Cedar Point. Marketing slogan or not, remember this is what the GP hears.
Exactly. And I don't for one second believe they offered up the conveniently specific opinion of "they expected more of a ride at CP" without any prodding from coasterJay.

I have a great suggestion for Mantis.
Why don't they add sit-down trains to it, with the heart line elevated enough to match that of the stand up trains, enclose it in a box, and theme it as a space trip to Alaska?
BOOM! Excellent idea, its a new ride...and a dark ride. Everyone wins. Oh and its still a coaster so it keeps the park from losing ground in the "coaster war".... ;)

How do you know, were you there? :-)
Point is no one knows what CF is even thinking, just a sneaking suspicion. ;-)

I like your idea JW! Michigan's Adventure would be more Ideal since they haven't had a new coaster since Thunderhawk. So adding Mantis would be great for their line-up. This way it works for Cedar Point too so they could add a new B&M Floorless. :)

Fixed that for you.
Hit CP Wednesday night and the park was moderately busy. TTD, MF 1 hour plus waits, Magnum 30 min, PT 30 minute wait, flat rides all 3-4 cycle waits....and you know this is coming.......Mantis - walk on. I don't mean just walk into station and wait, literally walk on. Sending trains out without being full. People getting off complaining, no feedback from riders after, "how was your ride?". The photo booth attendant looked bored out of her mind, CRT screens in photo booth also, not LCD like all other rides - why haven't they been upgraded like other rides? What does all this mean, who knows, but this "enthusiast" is willing to bet the ride as you know it wont be around much longer. Say what you want about ridership and ride experience (both of which were horrible tonight), no one in line and lots of complaints has to say something.
I freaking LOVE Mantis and it doesn't hurt me to ride! I think the track would also have to be changed a bit to make a floorless work. Also the layout for the Mantis rocks. Last rant: Mantis was a world class coaster and I think it still is! People bitch and complain about everything doesn't mean CP should remove it. CCMR would have to go before any other ride in the park, IMHO.

That happens on Raptor as well, so I suppose the park should remove it too.

But do people get off Raptor unresponsive to "how was your ride?" prompts and/or complain? Not usually, even though it desperately needs Banshee's end course brake run. That's a whole other issue, though.

I've never seen that happen, I would also like to know the next time Raptor is a walk on as I've not seen that happen even on slow days! Bottom line, Mantis trains suck, there is a reason there are only 7 left operating. There will soon be one less I hope.
I've been on Raptor many times when it was a walk on. It happens to all the rides, you just have to be at the park on the right day and time.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Raptor and other rides up front are usually walk-on later in the day.

The photo shop at Mean Streak has been closed for quite some time now, yet the ride is still running. They must sell enough Mantis photos to justify keeping it open.
