Speaking of which...Walt...anyone...any pictures somewhere of the old cartoon signage? :)
Maggy... very perplexing ride. #4 of my list, respectively, and I don't think it will be moving down far after my trip to England and 14 park trip next season (somewhere around 130 coasters). There is just something about it where, if the line is short, I could just ride it over and over and over. Go Maggy!!

Ill be blunt. In the world of Cedar Point, and only Cedar Point, yes, it is a truly awesome coaster, and in the top 3. However, quite frankly, I am baffled as to how it keeps getting rated as high as it does every year on a national/global level, and feel that is is a tad bit overrated by coaster enthusiasts. (and I said "tad bit"...not a lot)
I am, though, shocked at the line it does not have every time we visit CP. Of course, I am someone who remembers waiting 3 hours to ride in its first year, and just being astonished at its speed and height back then.
Honestly, in the world of coasters today, I do not see how Magnum has any business in the top 10. I have been to a VERY limited amount of parks in my life compared to some, and it barely cracks mine.
From a historical perspective, yes, it deserves all the respect in the world.
So to answer your question, Jerreus, I actually do feel its overlooked at CP, mainly b/c the line is so short (however, how they can let the station remain as it is is beyond me), but nationally, I feel it is overrated.
I love Magnum, but a lot of these Golden Ticket awards, I don't understand. Have to agree with Cedar Point as the number one park and MF as the number one steel coaster, but some of the other awards baffle me. Anyone ever been to Holiday World? I live 45 minutes from it but still hadn't been in about 20 years. I finally went 2 weeks ago to try their new roller coaster, The Voyage. Incredible ride. It blows any wooden coaster I've ever been on away. But I was expecting a great ride from the Raven since it was ranked as the number one wooden coaster in the world three years in a row. It's a joke. A complete joke. I cannot understand the Golden Ticket on that one. Blue Streak is a far better ride.
To expand on what CP Tay Tay said, at any other amusement park but CP, Magnum would be the feature coaster and would probably have huge lines all the time. But it's got plenty of competition at Cedar point.
Tonymtdew, you left out the most important key, which is the amount of people who want to ride, which has a direct effect on capacity and efficiency. If you don't believe me, just visit Geauga Lake. :)

What I don't like about the ride is how to me the pretzel is getting rough especially with the brakes off. Honestly the coastermania rides with the brakes off were not the best. Too me it felt like too much banging and speed in the pretzel. Tightening the seatbelt all the way helps some but not completely with me. Maybe I'm wrong but I think it may be getting rougher each year. The rides I had on it say 5 years ago seemed much better then rides today to me.

I was riding with trims off second weekend and it didn't feel that bad. Compared to Millennium it was rough, but it wasn't Mean Streak rough.

That could be. I haven't been on MS yet. My body may not be able to take it as well as others.

Well Maggie is pretty rough, I mean whenever i go on those bunny hills when I get the airtime I get so much that when I go up out of my seat it makes my thighs hurt really bad. *** Edited 6/29/2006 8:02:42 PM UTC by Jerreus***

Wait.....I thought Magnum was sinking and going to be removed. Why would they put new lapbars on a ride that is not going to be around much longer?!?
;)

You get a *slap* for that idea.
CP Management - Please ignore the preceding post and DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT consider changing the lap bars on Maggie.

They usually do put new lapbars on the ride each year.... ;)
It would majorly take away from an awesome ride if the lapbars were changed.

If you're going to complain about it after you ride it, don't ride it to begin with.

Nothings Mean Streak rough or MF smooth.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think MF isn't nearly as smooth as it was the first few years it was open?
