Luminosity Testing?

A new youtube video has surfaced, looks to be the employee preview performance. Pretty good quality of sound and video all around, at least better than what we have seen so far. Its not the whole show, but its a good portion and it shows what to expect as far as music and technical things.

My Opinion, some of the singers have some work to do (others id a good job though). The lighting, pyro and effects are fantastic though.

Until I see a professionally done video, I'll hold off on what I think they sound like until I hear in person. Live mixing can be tough enough, listening to it done through what still sounds like a cellphone cam doesn't help. The song selection is about the exact same as what I would have picked, even though I don't enjoy a few of the songs they are at least current and what the target audience is going to listen to.

After its first preview night I am certainly impressed with most of the show. The lighting work is definitely awesome and well programed along with most of the pyro cues. Some of the individual pyro products used in the show however I did not like and to me I felt like a lot of them were just randomly chosen and placed in show without thought. So some of that I would change but thats just me. As for costuming, I am 'meh' on that. It looks like a case of "This looks awesome" on paper but once the final product is made, it looks more like a Spirit Halloween costume.

While not having anything to do with the actual show, the way a lot of the production was implemented bothers me. Mainly in the way they are taking care of, or lack of, the lighting instruments. The lack of safety around some of the truss doesn't sit well with me either but again, that is just me.

When this was first announced, I was thinking...ehhhh....But seeing live testing last week...WOW!!! This should make a great addition for the years to come.

I have to say I'm pretty impressed! If this video makes the show look as great as it does, I can't wait to see it in person. I plan on being at the park the weekend it opens, so I'll be able to share my thoughts about it after that.

WoW! good vid.....show looks awesome. I like how they opened with J.Lo's on the floor. "jump around" was great too :) I see many picky people on here, but let the show performers stretch out a bit and then they will get better :)

Love the production value. The lighting, sound, and effects are incredible. Love it! As someone mentioned earlier, however, the performers are lacking IMO. The male singer during "Moves Like Jagger" is particularly awful IMO. Yes--I realize that it's difficult to sing (much less duplicate) a top 40's song, but some of these songs sound pretty bad right now. In addition to the weak vocals, a lot of these performers don't even seem that physically invested at the moment. The choreo seems generally uninspired, too. I'll hope they're holding back a bit before the actual opening (not very likely, though). While it's still early, I'm wondering if CP tried to tackle a bit too much with such a long running time. Perhaps the quality would've been better if the show were shorter? Can't wait to see it in person.

As I and others have said, don't be so quick to judge the sound right now. Hearing it in person and from someones crappy cellphone camera are two totally different experiences.

There is a chance that it has already been shortened since most shows typically are by the time they make it to stage. But you have to remember that Cedar Point did not produce this, it was done entirely by an outside production company.

It would have been nice if Cedar Point's own Live E had a shot at producing the show, but I suppose with the tight time frames (not to mention the scope of the show itself) it understandable why they went with an outside company.

There's no way CP could have produced a show that large. Not with the staffing they have.

The outside company is RWS based out of New York.

Sound is terrible on cell phones. However, choreography can't be faked. And it needs work.

Is the actual live singing and stage show limited to the first 16 minutes, like it is in the video?

If so, it seems like a lot of hype for very little substance.

I don't see why not. The amount of people they have now can already produce up to 4 new shows a summer, and this show really isn't that large of a show. But since you think it is a large show, what kind of resources do you need that Cedar Point does now have to produce such a show?

Here is a question if anybody knows. Where dose Cedar Point get the pryo for their shows like this. From what I've read this show will be followed by fireworks every night. I really like the idea of Cedar Point haveing a guy or two on site makeing the shells, I know larger shows like 4th of july would have to be contracted out, but if we're talking a few flashpots and a handfull of fireworks a night I could see CP haveing a full time guy or two doing it.

Originally the pyro crew was going to be contracted out just as pyro has always been done at Cedar Point. As for making the product at the park, no way. Anything used in this show is purchased from a company like Kellner. RWS has an idea of what kind of shell they want in the show, they find a company that has that product or can make what they want. That company then sells them what they need and it is shipped to and stored at the park until show.

Give me a few days and I will have all the info you want on the show.

Have you watched the B-roll video, though (the one with the better sound)? The sound in that video isn't half bad (i.e. the recorded music sounds "normal" to me), and I still think a lot of the singers don't sound too great...

Don't get me wrong, I'll keep an open mind when I see the show in person. But so far, I'm wondering whether this show will really succeed in engaging park guests.

^Yes I have watched that video and for what you are trying to judge, the audio is still of a horrible enough quality for me to make a judgement. Call me crazy but I am the kind of person who typically does not pass judgement on something until I see it in person. I also know that these are not broadway singers and they are not going to be amazing but the quality of singers are not going to be the factor in if this show succeeds or not. Especially since the target audience for this already listens to crap ;)

I was able to witness one of the soft openings last night and I'm VERY impressed. Not only is the show very well done but the energy definitely carries over after the show when the DJ just plays dance music. It went a full hour past park closing and people (kids, teens parents alike) were dancing and having a great time. And not just a few here or there, it was darn near everyone. Even I found myself groovin to the beat a few times (as scary as that may seem:)) with the group I was with. It's definitely an awesome way to end the day and a great addition in my opinion. There were many big wigs out watching the show, (Hildebrandt, Ouimet, etc etc) and I think they were pleased by the outcome.

Even though there will be people who don't enjoy the music played, they wont outweigh the people who will enjoy the dance party afterwards. There is a reason the Disney parks add DJ dance parties all over the parks when they are busy. Regardless of music played, people love the party atmosphere and this show will succeed no doubt.

We were at the show last night as well, and I was very impressed. Best show CP has put on that I have seen. Started at around 9:15, and when we finally left around 10:45, the DJ was still going strong. I am 43, and normally don't dance in public, but had an absolute blast dancing and goofing off with my two teenagers and 6 year old. This show is much much more than I ever imagined it would be. While I enjoy the current music they played, it was nice they threw in the occasional song some of us "old timers" could relate to. Seeing how this was just a soft opening, and I'm sure they have some tweaks to make before it officially kicks off, I am greatly looking forward to the final product. Kudos to CP and the production crew that put this on. This is well above and beyond any show I have ever seen at CP.

It'll be interesting to see what parks it expands to in 2013, I know they mentioned expanding it if it's popular. Are the bleachers in the former WildCat spot open yet or is it still blocked off?
