Mantis is louder then Raptor, Raptor got new wheels last year so it got a little quiter then Mantis is.
Oh, and Mantis is a "he" not a "she"! Haha!

I think mantis has the loudest drop. Magnum Loudest Chain lift. Wicked Twister or dragster loudest launch.Wildcat is pretty loud too, sounds like it is going to fall aprt. and Iron Drgon is probably the clankiest
Then Thrill ride um...Probably Demon Drop or Skyhawk maybe Power Tower..
What makes that "roar" anyways? Is it the wheels? or is it just the vibration of the train going through the supports?

I know that the arrows have a loud chain lift! The Magnum and Corkscrew have a loud chain! Alos Mine Rise and Gemini do. But like I said before I love the roar of the B&M coasters!!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
I was told it is the hallow supports on a B&M that gives it that great roaring vibration. I don't know if this is right or not.

Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!
I love the sound of the lift on Magnum. Mean Streak is pretty loud too, with all that squeaking and roaring. The best sounds though are at the front entrance. I love hearing BS go by and hearing the drop of DD.
It's the hollow vibrations of the ride supports. All those purple supports are hollow and if you put your ear up to the support as the train is going over it is very loud. The second part of the ride was supposed to be indoors, not jurt imagine that sound, indoors!

Wow. Mantis was supposed to be indoors? My friend who worked it never knew that either!
Speaking of indoors, I think DT can be the loudest sometimes! I guess only the employees will be able to hear the sounds.
What? Since when?

It's a combination of the track and supports. All B&M track/supports are hallow so they pick up the noise and vibrations and sends it thru the track and supports. But when you have a B&M with the supports filled with sand, it nulls out a good percentage of the noise. So what you hear is mostly in the track.

^The type of wheel is also a factor as well. Mantis wheels are a harder material than whats on Millennium or any other newer Intamin for that matter... that harder material creates a louder vibration. That transmits through all the supports and it's amplified by the hollowness of them.

I'm glad they've found newer better materials since then.:)
And that's the beauty of Intamin track. Very little hallow cavities for transmitting noises. Most Intamin noise is in the supports...which they fill with sand anyway.

Mantis by far.
Although you can hear Top Thrill all the way around the park when its going up...?
So stoked for 2010 :]

Intamin does not automatically fill supports with sand. Maverick is the only one of the four at Cedar Point that does. The only other one I can think of that I've personally been on that did elsewhere was Storm Runner at Hersheypark.

I never heard anything about Mantis at one point being designed with a portion indoors.
As for Maverick's supports, I wonder if that is because of it's proximity to Lighthouse Point and Camper Village.
