Longest Waiting Line

Doesn't mean I make idiotic statements implying something different.

You only think it's an idiotic statement because the joke went flying over your head. :)

I've seen a lot of new people on these boards in the past few weeks. Before you go criticizing some of the veterans of the forum, you may want to establish credibility first.

There are many of us who have been around these forums for YEARS who get each other's jokes.

So, relax, take a chill pill, and hang around a while. I think you're going to like it here!

I missed the joke, back when I first replied. See, there are so many absurd things stated, usually as absolute fact, on these forums that it gets frustrating, and that was what I had first assumed was happening.

And listen Bud, I've been on these forums for a long time also (different account), but either way, I don't need the permission of some Pointbuzz Jedi master to call out idiotic statements, or poor attempts at humor, either. These are discussion forums. One cannot make posts without the possibility to getting criticized. Such is the internet. If you've been around as long as you say, you should know that by now.

End rant.

Now see, I don't think it was a poor attempt at humor. If you read these forums like everything is factual then I guess you can sometimes get caught up in that. You should have been able to spot the sarcasm of Jugga's post, I thought it was funny.

Really? "Veteran"...."Credibility"..... so sitting around here with the rest of these yahoos for years debating and guessing what the next big move may be...gives you credibility? It sure is fun to log into here every once and a while to see what everyone has their panties in a bunch over this time. You guys spend all year debating back and forth what should be done or could be done, getting all hyped up because a webcam isn’t working so that you can’t see the same view you've seen for years. So you're here flexing your muscles thinking you're all big and bad... well to somewhat quote the movie the waiting... being a veteran cool guy on a super cool coaster website, "that’s like being the smartest kid with down syndrome" So why don’t you take your own advice and take a chill pill, it’s just a bunch of fun nonsense to keep everyone entertained until something important happens in your lives. Let’s try and keep the seriousness for important things.

I also hope this new ride has a high ridership capacity. I'm afraid there are going to be record breaking wait times (if there was such a thing). This is the first new ride since the introduction of the fast lane system. I know Gatekeeper is part of the FL plus and cost more; but, the people buying FL plus are going to be marathoning this ride because it is new and to get their money's worth. Unless they have something in place to accommadate that, the wait in the normal line will increase significantly. I see FL plus being more of a problem than the regular FL because it only includes 2 rides. I could see 4 or 5 hour wait times easy.

Schroeder, this is not a place you are forced to be. If you don't like the people here and the jokes we make, then maybe you should look for another community.

Back on topic. As someone who waited in Gemini's opening year line (yes, I'm old I guess, haha) and saw the openings of MF and TTD, I can say without a doubt that the worse line I ever saw by far was for Millenium Force. There was international media covering the opening of this coaster. Yes, it was a big deal at the time and that year had the biggest overall attendance I can remember (about 3.45 million people). The longest line I saw opening day in 2000 for MF was 6 hours long and the line went through the entire queue, snaked down through the Frontier Trail, and ended about where the Glassblowing house (Snake River Falls viewing bridge is now). The longest line I ever saw on multiple trips in 2003 (including opening day, I still have a home movie from it) for TTD was about 3 1/2 hours. Yes, MF's line was alot longer but we knew about the hype for MF ahead of time (with the preview card being passed out in 1999) but the building of TTD was cooler IMO because the park didn't announce it, they just kept building the tower up higher and higher in the middle of the park and didn't say anything. That was beyond cool.

Not the longest line, but I remember waiting just over 2 hours for Demon Drop.

Demon Drop.

That boggles the mind if you weren't old enough to be there. :)

Was Millennium Force ever as bad as Corkscrew at its worst?

Long waits for Dragster barely count because of mandatory downtime...

Corkscrew used to have epic lines? Jeez, that's hard to imagine with the line-up CP has today. Corkscrew needs a good bulldozing at this point in time, but this is just my opinion.

Epic does not even begin to describe Corkscrew's lines. And people were freaked...out...but yes, it really does put things in perspective.

I was too young to be too exact on a time length, but yes....epic. :)

Wish someone had some old pictures. :)

I remember waiting regularly almost 2 hours for Blue Streak and more than that for Magnum. Mean Streak and Gemini had very long lines too. Not many rides have staying power in terms of long lines. But many of them had them when they were the new ride in the park back when overall there were fewer rides.

When Iron Dragon came out, I was around 10 years old and I remember my dad, brother, and I waiting in line for 2.5 hours in the evening after my mother and other siblings had long since headed back to Camper Village.

Of course, it was a way cooler ride, and totally worth the wait, with the original paint scheme and surroundings.

We waited 4 hours for Dragster on it's opening day. But I seem to remember that everyone in the park was at Dragster... the rest of the park was pretty quiet.
