I used to be a seasons pass holder to GA,but now its much too crowded and claustrophobic. All of the rides have 2 hour lines, the ambiance of the parks sux, and the food is bad to mediocre. After I took my grandkids to CP and KI,they didnt even want to go to GA.My wife and I went once last year, but had to leave after only 3 hrs.We just didnt enjoy it,I wish it were otherwise.

Chitown,Great America is a park with Six problems.
1. The town board feels that six flags has enough, even though they approved a water park to be built by another company.
Great America will get what it wants in the end. SF decided themselves not to construct the waterpark. If you go the Gurnee site, you can listen to the zoning meeting regarding this. THEY GAVE APPROVAL!!
2. Any new exciting ride must be smaller than any ride they already have.(city law)
Wrong. Gurnee requires a zoning variance of any ride over 125ft tall. If Great America wanted to construct a coaster taller than Raging Bull, they would get the approval.
3. Are you excited about the new rides this year? All 5 of them could go in Kiddieland.
Actually, I am. For awhile, the park has just been installing coasters. They were lacking in flat rides and these new additions will be a welcoming. How can you not like it?
4.The only thing that would excite me would be another X ride like at Magic Mountain. Even though it's not even open 7 days a week.
That sounds pretty one track minded but it is your opinion.
5. Six Flags is going to make money as long as it's the only park inbetween Milwaukee and Chicago. Where else do you go?
Now that CF has bought GL, where is their competition now?
6. I feel that six flags, if they ever build anything new and BETTER it will be at Magic Mountain. After all it's 1500 miles+ from Ohio. Check the ride map there, You will see that they have their best rides there.
Besides X, what has SFMM installed recently that would be classified as new? Does better automatically mean. Its your opinion that they have the best rides in the SF chain.
I want the BEST and CEDAR POINT tries to give that to me EVERY day. If anyone tries to beat CP, I'll bet they will build it bigger and better.
No problem. If you feel CP is the best, thats great. I like it to, but I also enjoy other parks and SFGAm provides.

I wasn't trying to shut you up. Just pointing out a couple things.
Heck, I wish CP and SFGAm were both in the Chicago area. :)
Go White Sox.

Going west, it's 210 miles to Six Flags Great America. I'll make that trip at least twice this year - of course, with my way-cheap- renew-by-mail Kentucky Kingdom pass.
For what it's worth, I like SFGAm. It may be my favorite park in the chain. If I drove past it every day, I'd stop once a week for sure. You just have to pick the right days to go; a Saturday in July is a huge mistake at either park.

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!
My wife and I both are coaster freaks and since then nothing around here in southern Ga even comes close the the excitement at CP. Orlando is ok and I can fall asleep on anything at SF over Ga. So this year we are getting season passes and have planned 2 trips for a week each and maybe another. An 800 and something mile trip is hard to do too often and with 4 kids flying is too much hassle
