long distance season passers

I guess that all the people who are willing to travel long distances many times just for CP,proves that CP is the best.

The irony is that I went to school right next to Riverview park in Chicago, but at that time I had only a mild interest in amusement parks or coasters.

I'm sorry to say this Allan, but wow that must have been a LONG time ago. My mom talks about riverview all the time. I never saw it except for pictures and I'm 33. She said the youth of today don't know what it's like to be scared on a ride. The parachute ride??? She says is the scariest thing she's ever seen.

There is only one Cedar Point. And as long as six flags corp. keeps losing money, I don't think there will be anything to challenge it anytime soon. It's a short drive (5 hours from Chicago) to go for a real amusement park. After CP, Great America reminds me more of Kiddieland.

Derek, dont be sorry :),Im 67 and Id rather be old than the alternative.I did go on the parachutes once and it was scary, but the RIDE was the Bobs.I never rode it Im ashamed to admit, but it was kinda a rite of passage for teens in my day.

I have four kids older than you Derek, and they all love CP>.as do my granchildren.

6flags is just not worth the money any more.I used to like it years ago and Kings Islad was great until 93, but since Paramount bought it,I dont care for it much.

I am 730 miles away, but that probably does not count since I get a VF season pass. I usually make 3 trips to CP a year.

I'm a new season pass owner and I live a little north of Detroit about 2 1/2 hours away from CP. I go three times a year plus MIA is about the same distance as CP is from me. Planning on going to MIA for the first time this year, exciting!!

Front seat rider, what is VF Pass?
I think he means ValleyFair, another CF park in Minnesota.
Hi:

I want to be able to walk to CP from my house. I assume this means I would have to buy one of those uber-posh houses along the 'secret' back road. I'd better start saving.

BTW, I live about 40 minutes from CP.

Stimpy,that is not fair :(
i live in austin but dont have a season pass, go once every year though
Since July of 2002 I have lived in crappy Lake Charles, Louisiana...that's about 1,250 miles (20 hours) of driving. I just got my '04 pass in the mail. I flew to CP on opening day last year. I'm moving back to the great state of Ohio in June!

I just got a season pass this year and I am 480 miles away from CP and will go probably 3 weekend trips. One in May, one in summer, and one for halloweekends.

Hey I spent 5 years up the road in that lovely wooded preserve known as "Ft Polk!" And at least once a summer i made the 20 hour drive home, the worst part was the back roads from Leesville to Hope Ark., and always spent one day at the Point, In the same 5 years i only went to SFoT one time and NEVER went to Astroworld, only 3 hours away!

Funny is that this year I actually have a Knotts pass, and thats a 4 hour flight from here! (INDY)

From all the posts here, its obvious that there are many many dedicated CP devotees who are willing to travel great distances .And here I thought I was unusual....hardly...LOL :)

Don't you think that is a little extreme? I love CP as much as the next guy, but Great America is a well run park and has enough coasters to satisfy. Being that you live near SFGAm and like coasters, why wouldn't you visit?

Put a little variety in your life. :)

Wow, thats a lot of miles. I get mad when I get stuck at a light and it takes me 30 minutes to get to the point!

Chitown,

Great America is a park with Six problems.

1. The town board feels that six flags has enough, even though they approved a water park to be built by another company.

2. Any new exciting ride must be smaller than any ride they already have.(city law)

3. Are you excited about the new rides this year? All 5 of them could go in Kiddieland.

4.The only thing that would excite me would be another X ride like at Magic Mountain. Even though it's not even open 7 days a week.

5. Six Flags is going to make money as long as it's the only park inbetween Milwaukee and Chicago. Where else do you go?

6. I feel that six flags, if they ever build anything new and BETTER it will be at Magic Mountain. After all it's 1500 miles+ from Ohio. Check the ride map there, You will see that they have their best rides there.

I want the BEST and CEDAR POINT tries to give that to me EVERY day. If anyone tries to beat CP, I'll bet they will build it bigger and better.
