Live Web Cams

Exactly. If it's already packed I don't see any reason to drive an hour to wait in lines when I could just go a day later. If Cedar Point is packed it's bonfire and weenie time at home.

For me, it's a 2 hour drive. And I leave around 9 or 10AM each time I go, sometimes earlier if I want to use the early entry. The webcams don't help out that early in the day because of the bulk of the crowd is still yet to arrive. If I got there and the lot was full, I would just cut my losses and go back home.

We usually go for the afternoon or evening and stay until closing so the webcam is pretty useful for us.

Normally, I go on days I know won't be too crowded. I never go on Saturday's or holiday weekends.

When in doubt, just go and have a good time. Better to be at CP than to sit at home.

Agreed! I could be so happy just sitting on a bench in Frontier Town or across from the antique cars back there listening to music and people/coaster watching all night. It's ridiculous!

I also use the TTD cam for the parking lot to determine if I go for late afternoon/evening. Any empty spots seen from the parking lot/main entrance cam will show if people are starting to leave for the day.
Back to the live webcam topic, when I see a view I like,I do a 'print screen' and save it as a jpeg.I've got 416 webcam pics saved from 2007-2013.

Very cool watching the lightening strikes on the PT cam as it looks across the bay. Only thing is PT's lights wash out some of the sharpness. Still very neat.

You boneheads need to learn how to roll up the extension cord for the fluggegecheimen when you're done with it!

Another day, another new camera position. This morning one is pointing at Maverick's first drop and the other at Raptor. The Raptor cam shows basically a great shot of the entire ride.

I continue to be impressed with seeing a new and different vantage point each day.

These are great, I wish they'd add about 4 more.

They are adding another live cam and taking down the stills soon.

I wish they would keep the still cams, and add another live cam.

I wonder how much time we have left to get friends to save our pictures posing in front of Pagoda cam. Last time I could coordinate the timing with somebody at home on their computer the light wasn't good.

can be done with an Iphone, got a few when I would go with a friend,he would bring up the webcam,I would line us up,he'd do a 'save pic'. worked good.

My kids and I don't have iphones so the simple way doesn't work for us. It actually started just as my husband calling us from work telling us to let him know when we were in front of the Pagoda so he could look for us. The first time we actually managed to be there when he wasn't being called away for an emergency I had him save the pic but the sun was setting and it just didn't come out good.

Well one of the live cameras is giving a good view of the entire parking lot. You can see how crowded the park is and it is even more clear than the still cam. I often use the parking lot cam to decide on our many spur of the moment trips to CP. If it doesn't look too crowded, we often head up after work or I get off early. The park is getting pretty crowded today. We won't be heading there today after all.

Just saw Dragster have a rollback! The actual ride tower isn't in view but you can see part of the launch track and the track near where the Finish sign is. Saw the train launched down the track, waited a little, then saw it come backwards along the same track. I wish the camera would have been facing the actual tower but oh well.

It was clearing the hill quite slowly before a rollback about an hour ago. :)

I like it pointed on the launch area of Dragster. You can see the catchcar.

If they do eliminate the static dragster cam, I hope they at least have one of the live cams showing the parking lot until mid afternoon like they did today. That way we can still tell how busy the park is on any given day. This would help with the spur of the moment decisions. Otherwise, I will stick to days I know from past experience should not be busy and give up on spur of the moment evening dinner trips to CP.

Yes, if they keep something that can give a good idea of how many people are there other than just looking at the crowds walking around.
