I forgot all about that. Thereused to be a tram that would drive people back and forth in the parking lot too.

The Live Entertainment venues actually used to use nearly all Live Music.

Centennial Theater had a rather large orchestra on the back of the stage.

Red Garter Saloon featured a Live Band.

Lusty Lil's had a Live Band.

There was a preshow in the Good Time Theater/IMAX Theater waiting staging area that would feature a drum/trash banging group.

There used to be a Country/Fiddling group in the pavilion near the Mine Ride and Skyhawk area.

A couple of small bands used to roam the park called the Hobo Band and The Beach Band.

I know I'm forgetting some...

All of the theaters used to have two different shows each day. One in the morning and early afternoon and another show in the late afternoon and evening.

In the 1970's I think there was a "Funhouse" located in the vicinity of where Giant Wheel and Wicked Twister are, it was close to where the Rotor was. I recall it being multi-levels and having a mirror maze as well as some sort of spinning tubes that you walked through, and possibly some slides to exit if you chose. What was the smallish coaster with tiny two or four person cars that I think was near where Matterhorn is now or near where the Frontier Sky Ride entrance was? Something like that would be a good "beginner" coaster for my 7 year old autistic son.

The fun house was called the Upside Down Funhouse because of the upside down room that you walked through. It was a lot of fun and featured a spiral slide for the exit.

The small coaster was a wooden wild mouse ride called Scamper.

The coasters didn't used to have gates in the load area; guests were expected to know better than to put themselves in danger. You were told to "stand behind the yellow safety line", usually on a numbered paint spot. Blue Streak used to load on the right side of the station. The BS queue was in front and along the side where Calypso sits now, and the entrance was in the front.

Just say no to trims

I completely forgot about the tram (it was white & blue, wasn't it???) and the funhouse. I love that little slide at the end.

You are right about the blue streak lines and loading. The numbers were painted within a circle, if I recall correctly.

And there used to be a Karaoke spot near Centennial Theatre...I think you were given a tape with your recording. You'd be line for the cable cars and have to listen to horrible singers. Ugh.

I remember the Karaoke booths, but I believe they were next to Pagoda, not near Centennial Theatre.

I remember the karaoke up by the theatre. Especially when a friend of mine did a Carpenters song there.

I'm with Pete - pretty sure the karaoke booths were near Pagoda.

What I'm remembering was Star Trax Recording Studio by the Centenial Theatre. That's were the awful singing was coming out of:

Right you are, but they must have either moved them later or they actually had two. I remember the pain of hearing the singing in the vicinity of Pagoda very well. Thankfully I didn't walk past Centennial too much, so I must of been spared the pain of that.

I have a hazy recollection of it around the pogoda area as well, but this location stuck with me because, like I said, a friend of mine went in and did a Carpenters song there. When was it at the Pogada area?

The karaoke/recording booths near Pagoda were called Superstar Studios. They also had an option to record a video of your recording at the Superstar Studios video booth near the current Pinks hot dog location.

Last edited by Detroit Basketball,

It is now a gift shop, but if you look at the back wall you can see the recording booths.
