Does anyone else remember being able to park along the Blue Streak and being able to walk under the Blue Streak to get in the park. You came into the Park between The Mill Race and the old Merry Go Round (that now sits at the Main Entrance).

I once had several of the centennial coins, but unfortunately they have disappeared.

Before the one price admission policy, they used to have a ride ticket program wherein you could walk right into the park (like under the blue streak). You had to purchase tickets to actually get on the rides. Like at a county fair, the type of ride determined how many tickets it took. I remember carrying the booklets around in my back pocket hoping not to lose any. The next phase was a once price for everything option along with the ticket system. If you did the one price program, you got a wrist string held closed with a metal clip so the ride entrance host would know to let you on without collecting any tickets.

I still have some of the tickets. They came in a little booklet.

Can you post a pic of one of those tickets? Would enjoy seeing one again.

I have a cedar point brochure from 1963!

My grandma gave me this book on the great lakes that she found at a garage sale when I visited her house a while back. i opened the book to skim though the pages when i got bored, to look at it. Then, hidden between two random pages, this brochure fell out. I was like "seriously?" my grandma was laughing too :)

since it was in between the pages for so long i guess, it is perfectly preserved ;)

This may have been mentioned and I did not see it. The Giant Wheel used to be at the final turnaround of Millie.

^ I didn't see it mentioned yet. The remains of it is the cement slab to the left of Millennium's entrance in between the final turnaround and the train station. They used to use it when Millennium opened in 2000 and set up temporary queue rails there, but now, to my knowledge, it isn't used anymore

Jumbo Jet sat where Disaster Transport is (I still call it Avalanche Run if I'm not thinking) - what a crazy ride Jumbo Jet was, I have heard that it's still operating somewhere........any updates from anyone??

Jungle Larry had a zoo and great animal show somewhere under, or in the area of the Corkscrew....this was a staple show to see in the 70's

Behind the Snoopy Shop, used to be Barenstain Bears...but I do recall that there was a miniature golf course there way back, before Challenge Park, but they had the right idea.....charged $0.50 for a round.

The Corkscrew & Gemini were unequalled rides anywhere when they were new

Some things will never change and shouldn't.....for example, the pillary on frontier trail, still attracts & creates photo memories today just as it did in the 70's and before (how many folks have had to wait for passers by?????)

Before the Breakers Tower was built, there was a walkway joining buildings at the hotel that seemed (at least to me) to reek of history, if only those long gone walls could talk......

Digressing a bit, but why not, Hotel Breakers & Hotel Del Coranado were built at just about the same time, early 1900's. The architecture of both hotels is interestingly similar, particularly with respect to the rotunda among other things. Now to make things really interesting, the classic movie "Some Like it Hot" was shot at Hotel Del, and Marilyn Monroe says at one point in the movie that she can't remember if she is in Sandusky or not. Perhaps food for more discussion later.

Yes they were:

Gemini was the tallest, fastest & steepest coaster in the world when it opened

Corkscrew was the first coaster to feature 3 inversions.

Hotel Breakers & Hotel Del Coranado were built at just about the same time, early 1900's.

Close, But, Hotel Del Coranado opened in 1888 whereas Breakers opened in 1905

Is there a basement/shelter under the original Hotel Breakers? I have heard that there is nothing below grade at the Breakers, but once I saw a door open in the main hall with stairs leading down......where to???

The 1966 park guide is great, where was the chapel located? This is the first time I have heard of such a place at CP.

Also interesting to note is a Detroit phone number for CP.
Wonder if CP saw Boblo Island as a threat in '66?
