Little Cedar Point Facts/Info

Is there a basement/shelter under the original Hotel Breakers? I have heard that there is nothing below grade at the Breakers, but once I saw a door open in the main hall with stairs leading down......where to???

That's the secret Cedar Point utilidors! Few people know about the underground passage from Hotel Breakers to the Main Gate entrance. The Lemon Chill Guy told me about it. ;)

Too bad you need scuba gear to use it. ;)

This kind of stuff makes me wish Cedar Point would have followed through on that rumored boardwalk idea back in the 90's. It could have been similar to the Lost Kennywood area at Kennywood. Of course, CP's would have been better. ;)

If you use scuba gear you can go down there and get to Millie's green train

A little off topic, but what is the boardwalk idea? I've heard about it a lot this past year, but never before.

It's essentially the idea of turning the beach front into a more traditional looking board walk with the ever so enticing inclusion of a beautiful GCI coaster as a compliment. ;)

^Sounds good to me:)

This is also off topic.. But when was the last time Breakers was updated? I know the Sandcastle was recently a few years back. But I do not remember hearing anything about breakers.

Ok gotcha. I thought it had something to do with the boardwalk from Breakers to the beach entrance. Thanks

Here's an interesting Cedar Point fact: the last roller coaster built at Cedar Point using a traditional chain lift was Mantis back in 1996. 5 Roller coasters have been built since then, and none of them use a chain.

Kinda makes you wonder what the next roller coaster to be built will use.

Hotel Breakers added the Towers and East-side sections in 1997. Somebody correct me if this is wrong, but the only original parts of the resort are the Bon Air section, entrance, and rotunda.

For a brief year or two, there was a double ferris wheel located at the enterance of the park between the cable car lift and the carousel.

Back in the late 1960's to early 70's you could purchase various forms of admission (seniors, park only, park & rides) that were identified by a piece of string with a small metal can (in the shape of a wedge). Kids wore them until the string rotted off their wrists to show off where they had been.

The Cedar Creek Mine ride was only the second or third steel coaster ever built. The first was the Matterhorn in Disneyland.
For ages, there was a McDonalds located directly across from the enterance. It was the last stop before "park food" - and they did big business as a result.
Back in the 1960's you could easily arrive at the park by noon, leave by six, and pretty much ride everything at least once.

Jr. Gemini was Intamin's first rollercoaster.

I found that little tidbit a few years ago, when Maverick was being built. Like myself, my kids, especially my daughter(13), loves the geekyness of the rides. She's always pointing out who the manufacturer of rides are, even on TV. (Dad, that looks like an S&S, like Power Tower).

Ok, here is an easy one. What used to be where Dragster is now? I had only been to CP once before Dragster was built, and I can't remember what used to take up that space. I think I remember something Chinese themed, but maybe that was just the Iron Dragon area.

Troika approximately across from Corkscrew's exit, another Dodgem approximately where the tower sits, and Chaos in between.

Did Power Tower always have the signs above the heads of the riders?

I vaguely remember it looking different (or I am thinking of something else).
