List of must haves?

While you are correct on the repeaters function, it is still against cp guidelines (As I would have done it already had it not been the case)to tamper (including any attempts to 'enhance' ) their infrastructure. You are also correct that CP has fiber lines running.....to CP that is..to the corporate building that is...within the park itself....NOT to housing. Housing is a completely different network, not just vlan. Without going into too many details that need not be disclosed there are multiple hot spots within the housing areas, there is (albeit in my opinion poorly configured) load balancing setup as well as (again sadly an old) a switch which has even throttled back bandwidth in hopes that the stream would not be killed.

4g is indeed coming. I've seen the line ran, I've been told where the tower will be so it is factual this can be confirmed by talking with a verizon wireless employee as well as a CP employee. While I can not speak with personal experience on the 4g usefullness especially verizons...I do know it is indeed coming. I also agree with you on WiMax and as such it was slowly introduced last year...and is being introduced even more on a much larger scale this year.

EI

Well...Just don't get found out then :P...If anything they should be happy we do that lol...It takes alot of load off the hotspot considering they connect to the repeater vs. the main hotspot...

Also, there's not a T1 line to housing???? That's pretty ridiculous already....Lols...

Alright, if it's coming cool (for verizon kids :P)...Like I did say, the only thing is 4G doesn't have as much penetration power...When I was in Atlanta, they were one of the first to launch a WiMAX network, and I will be honest, I was staying at about 1 out of 3 bars the whole time, and when I entered the airport, my connection dropped immediately...As soon as I switched to 3G I had a perfect signal...So inside housing, ect....I think 4G won't even exist...However if you're out in the open, and not alot of buildings, ect. (like maybe over near 250, ect.) the service 4G offers is phenomenal compared to 3G when you actually get the connection...

Haha seeing as I have NO idea what you guys are talking about someone will have to hook me up once we all get there. Lmao. =)

Yea. It's going to be right next to commons dorms where East of Chicago Pizza used to be.

That's the dumbest thing I have so far going on this season. East of Chicago was the best thing for employees being that you could fill up all day on the cheap with good food. Why the hell would they change it?

You actually don't have to root your phone to use PDA Net. I use it on occasion with my un-rooted Moto Droid. It's pretty easy to get setup (just download it from the market and follow the directions) which is good because that makes it easy to purge and reinstall every 30 days to keep your access to secure sites.

And yah, definitely no T1 going to housing. Not even close. They do ok considering what limited resources they have to work with, but it's still pretty bad. One of my friends actually used a dial up connection from his room and found that to be faster and more reliable than the wireless.

I'm glad I found this thread. I'll be making good use of my CR-48's free 100MB of data every month. ;)
