Lima News article

Ok then, for everybody who reads it, what an idiot! Why would somebody even bother to reply here, defending his armpit of a town? Some people are very easily enticed...

Hmmm... who is more worldly... someone who grows up in Nowhere, Ohio (or a city named after a bean) and never goes anywhere, or a group of people who travel all over the country visiting amusement parks.

I visited Lima once for a radio gig interview. Boy was that a mistake. I mean, as soon as I saw that it was a step down from Mansfield, I knew I was in for trouble.

And yes, Cleveland and Cinci (and Columbus, Akron, Canton) are paradise compared to Lima. I'm not going to comment on The Glass City.

Well, that jeff crum guy is dumb. I would love to live in just about any other city than Lima and so would nearly everyone else who is stuck living in Lima. I can just about say that this guy is over 60 years old, for that age group (60+) is the only group of people who defend lima. But now that I think about it, there are a few good things about lima.

1. back country roads are allways no further than 10 min away so if you want to race or max out your car you can eaisly do so

2. if you get hurt, there are two realy good hospitals in town

3. (for some people, not myself) it is real eaisy to buy drugs, beer, and sex just about anywhere you go in town

Well thats all that I can think of. Oh, another thing, from asking people if they have heard of lima at amusment park, I have found out that most of them know lima by the place where Teddy's (an adult toy shop) is located.

For a group of people who have never lived in Lima, let alone even been there, you guys sure are experts on it...give it a rest already, the site is supposed to beabout coasters at CP and all you can write about is wal-marts and high schools being torn down!!???
OK Jeff, I'll bite whats wrong with Toledo?

I live in Michigan but am more Toledan then anything. We have a lot going for us if you haven't visited in the past decade.

COSI right downtown on the waterfront is a great place and just as good as the one in Columbus.

The Mud Hens just got a beautiful new stadium right downtown that is as pretty as any ball park I have seen.

The Toledo Zoo is consistently ranked as one of the best in the country.

The Toledo Symphony is very good and does many great concerts throughout the summer at the Zoo Ampitheatre.

The Toledo Art Museum has one of the largest art collections in the US.

We have concerts at many venues across the city ranging from rovk to classical to everything in between.

There are many great clubs in Toledo .

Many very nice convention centers.

Traffic that isn't bad at all compared to other comparably sized Ohio Cities.

The third busiest port on the great lakes.

Many many top quality hospitals

And the best part Carty Finkbeiner is no longer the Mayor

Come meet me some time Jeff and I will show you everything Toledo has to offer. I think a lot of people see crap there when in all reality it has so much to offer. They don't realize it's as big as it really is. 4th largest city in the state.

Its a heck of a lot cleaner and easier to get around then Cinci, Cleveland, and Colubus.

Welcome back Magnum riders how was your ride?

I guess Toledo looked pretty crummy driving through, but the actual city is quite fun IMO. You were right about the COSI, but the one in Columbus is a hair better. lol. And the zoo is great, and of all that I've been too, it's one of the best. Toledo is great but it looks bad on the outside IMO.

I think Columbus IS the belly button. It seems its always full of lint - lol. You know, lint isn't too bad, but is certainly isn't great. That's Columbus! The best parts are COSI and the nice theatres. And of course City Center.

Anyways, back on topic....where did the topic go? I guess now it's why the bean town is so horrible.

Also, does somebody's info disappear when they delete their account? Or does it stay? Well, even if not, somebody can give that Jeff Cruman guy a little peice of our mind, if your really bored and are a loyal to this site. I would never do it, but somebody feeling *hurt* by his statements can. You know MillenniumXL 200, morons make me laugh too. :)

Toledo isn't terrible... but it does suffer from an image problem. A good friend of mine is a TV news anchor up there and she badly wants out. Take that for what it's worth.

Columbus is actually a pretty amazing place, and has become one of the best areas to live in. The north suburbs in particular have seen unprecedented growth and everything is new. Hey, there's more than Wendy's in Dublin!

I would say anyone who was a news anchor in Toledo would want out. It is a pretty small and insignificant tv market, unless your name is Corporal Klinger.

I never met an Ohio city I didn't like.........

Good point, for those of you who didn't notice, I posted the link thinking you could offer thoughts about the article itself, not about whose city is better, if I was a mod, I'd have deleted this thread by now, I surprised myself by reading through the "my city sucks" or "that city sucks even though I've never been there", I was surprised to see the comment above (quoted) about the article, wow.

Well that's the beauty of it... I get to decide what's fit for discussion.

Been to Lima. Hated it. You know, come to think of it, I could do without most of the flat part of Ohio. There's just so little that's interesting in that part of the state and terrain is boring. St. Mary's is probably the only redeeming thing out there, and even then, you have to be a boating fan.

This thread just keeps getting better and better. All of the people who love lima and have seen the link to this tread are just comming on and posting that we are all nerds. Yet I don't think that I have seen a single one of those people actualy say anything good about lima (hummmmm.... I wonder why????). Just watch, in the next week or so the lima news will run an article regarding CP fans and their hate twards lima. Which will be followed by the few lima fanboys writing into the paper bashing CP and this site. Then one of us will write in defending CP and this site, but the lima news won't run it in the paper, thus creating a completly one sided story. Just watch, there is a 90% chance that what I just said will come true.

Also I will now get more e-mails asking why the lima news has the "worst writers in the world" and why I bash the lima news and the city of lima.

Jeff, thats the difference between suburban people and rural people. I could do without the entire eastern half of Ohio. Just give me the rich, flat farmland of the western side of the state. I don't care where I live in life as long as it's in the country surrounded by good farmland. If I can't see a mile across the field I don't like it. Sure places like Hocking Hills, the Cuyahoga Valley and Ohio Amish Country are great.

But heck the amish country just west of me in Indiana is more beautiful in my eyes. Besides teh fact that I see Amish people everyday where I live and my Dad being the retired farmer he is drives them places.

BTW Lake St. mary's is not that great as it is just way to shallow for much of anything. I could ski better without fear of smashing into the bottom on the Maumee River.

Lima isn't the worst place I have ever been but it's not but it's not good either. I do go there very often for shopping, but Toledo is just as close and has so much more to offer. heck Findlay is just as close and I would rather go there then Lima.

BTW Katie Holmes is from Toledo a definite plus ;)

What difference does it make really? Jeff you live in a subdivision, I would despise living in a subdivision. It's all how and where you grew up.

Sad but true, dude hit it on the head. We're all geeks and you're living in denial if you don't believe it.

If you can't beat em', join em'!

I can live with geek status. I mean, it's better then people who degrade other people to try to get their point across. I've never personally been to Lima, therefor I will not drop to the Lima residents level.

Every town has a certain something to give to society. My town is the smallest town to ever have an NFL team (2,000 residents). Oh, you might know the Player/Coach of the team as Mr. Jim Thorpe. You know, greatest athlete ever? So just to let Mr. Jeff Cruman know, because I know he will come back to read this forum, if you don't like what you read here then please leave, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

The Proud Geek ddogg.

I wonder if Mr. Cruman would call me a geek to my face after meeting me, a 48 year old wife and mother who works full time and has a life. If he didn't know me from this forum, he'd have absolutely no idea.

It's funny how he complains about the "geeks" here making generalizations, but does the same exact thing himself.
