If they used red lighting on the red track It would look too monotoned, all red. That would give the illusion that the track were white. Possibly some accent lighting on the canyon and lighting up the hill like Mantis for example would look odd. If anything, they will try to make a natural lighting theme.
Tony said at ACE Winter SOAR at Kings Island , that something will be going on inside the tunnel. The Maverick Videos do not show this. You will have to ride to see what is in the tunnel.

7 TTD rides.....1 Roll Back
3rd train of the Season on MF! 2007
maybe only the start of the tunnel will have lights and the right before the launch its"lights out!" as for outside; i would like to see the horseshoe, main hill, and turn around over the water after the tunnel all have lights. as well as the "close calls" with the rocks and stuff so that effect dosent get lost.
this is gonna be a fun ride at night. *** Edited 3/13/2007 8:29:38 PM UTC by cpfreak08***
im a freak for cp
Cedar Point has the whole "Strobe Lighting is Used on this ride" on their signs (and on the auto spiels back in 2005 [ie maXair]).
Now if they could fix Millennium Forces lift hill lights to they way they were before they got all weird like, then that'd be a pretty nice imorovement to the park.
2012 - Magnum XL 200 Crew
Yeah, the lighting department at CP doesn't seem to have a very big budget. This past season, I think half the lights on Magnum's lift were burned out - ya know, the racing ones.
Personally I think a pitch black tunnel would be very effective. But, the use of lighting could also enhance the sense of speed if done properly.
I don't think they need lights in the Tunnel, because it would be Great LAUNCHING Fast 70mph through the DARK TUNNEL. It is Fun at every other Coaster at the POINT. I have the Problem which will hurt me if the Strobe Lights will be on. On every other Coasters that have Lights I have to Shut my Eyes.
I've Rode the DRAGSTER 121 times since 2003, and some what around 400 times on the MF 2001-2006!!! If anyone wants to know how many times with any other Rides or Attractions; I'll tell ya, because I started my CP JOURNALS 2001-2006. I went 195 times 2001-2006!!

There is no "lighting department." The ride has a budget that includes lighting. The problem is that inflation, new technology and scope creep tend to hike up the cost of lighting between the time it's budgeted and the time it's actually purchased, sometimes resulting in something less than what they would have liked. We'll see how creative they are this time.

So I created a department that doesn't exist. But, maybe it should. LOL!! What I meant by my comment was the lighting for rides usually looks great when its installed. But, with time, the lighting burns out, isn't replaced, or only half works. Case in point, Magnum and Millennium's lift, Magnum's tunnel, Dragster's tower, most of Disaster Transport, etc...
Its all well and good cool lighting is designed and installed on rides. But, a well designed ride takes into account ongoing maintenance costs. If you can't afford to properly maintain something, you shouldn't even bother to put it in. That was really my point with putting lighting in Maverick's tunnel. In some cases, less is more.
The issue at one point with the lift on Millennium Force is that the lenses for the lighting instruments simply get dirty. The first year, when they became very dim, the rubber seals inside were vaporizing from the heat (they were apparently not cured right or something) and that vapor was depositing on the glass.
