This is going to be my first year as a lifeguard at Soak City. Stoked levels are off the charts. Sitting at the top of a slide all day > Hitting on old people as a server at Cracker Barrel.
Im going to be a lifeguard this year. is it going to be more exciting than working at a public pool? i reaaaaallly hope so! anybody who's been a lifeguard here could they fill me in on a typical day?
Thanks!!
It is nothing like working at a public pool... I work at a public pool in the off season and I HATE IT. Public pools are boring. There is more action, more people to watch, more expected of you. Working at soak city is hard work but a ton of fun!.. And its not sitting at the top of a slide all day lol. you will rarely be at the top of a slide...but you should be really excited! i made some of the best friends ever working at soak city last summer and cant wait to get back there!
2010 Soak city east crew
2011 soak city west ATL
Do we get to pick what crew we are on? Cause I know there is like east west and beach crew right? I just really don't want to be a guard at a hotel pool.... =/

^ I suspect CP/PKIdude should be able to answer that for you. I would imagine there's not much of a choice, although I seem to recall that the resort/beach lifeguards are somehow different from the SC guards.
You get to suggest where you want to go. But it is up to the lifeguard instructor to place you, which usually depends on your swimming ability and how well you did in the class.
as 99er said, they also depends on your personality and where youll fit in best.

I Just got hired this past weekend and was wondering if anyone had any idea about the housing situation up at the point. If so send me a message because id like to know more before jumping into the water. No pun intended.
You can find a six year old thread on lifeguards but you can't find a current thread on employee housing. hummmmm...and you were hired!
