Hi my friend and I are probably going to try and work at Soak City this summer as lifeguards, and I was wondering how the lifeguard crews work. Do you get to choose the crew you are put on?? Which is your favorite crew? Also if there are any tips about lifeguarding at Soak City in general, please share them with me!
I don't think its updated anymore but try this:

It will pretty much answer your questions. If you still have questions after reading that, private message me and I can answer them for you.
Be prepared for the Ripcord crew to hate you. :)

Picture this. You either stand on top of a slide, walk back and forth on a 10 foot stretch of concrete, or hand out innertubes for the lazy rivers for hours on end. It's not your typical lifeguarding job. Do yourself a favor. Work at RipCord instead.
Or go ahead and be a lifeguard, and get at least 20 of your friends to be lifeguards so that the Ripcord crew doesn't have to play the role of lifeguard when Soak City is "understaffed".

Or go in the middle of lifeguarding and ripcord, and sell tickets.

But the cashiers also get to play lifeguard sometimes, so I guess you could cashier and lifeguard unintentionally...

Anything involving a bathing suit, a flowered shirt, a referee shirt, a Pepsi shirt, a yellow shirt and a dustpan, a plaid grandpa shirt, a black shirt with barbeque sauce on it, or pushing little go karts, doesn't compare to wearing a highliter-yellow shirt and black shorts and working at the best two rides in the park. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Well I work at a water park right now so I am used to handing out tubes, saving people who are stupid and think they can swim when they really can't etc. I know soak city will be a lot bigger with a lot more guests but I don't think I would be happy working as anything but a lifeguard. Also for anyone who has been a lifeguard at soak city before do you get a lot of hours??? I would like to have at least 60 hours a week if not more. Needless to say I am a workaholic.
For the most part, you should have no problem at all getting 60+ hours. At least you won't if they really are as short handed as they always made it seem whenever they'd demand 5 people from Ripcord to stand at the top of a damn slide all day.

haha they do that at my water park too except it is the front desk workers that they make stand on top of the slides it seems everywhere is always short guards
Haha... glad to hear they still send Ripcord folks to the top of slides... I dreaded those days....

They send anyone they can get. I have seen the Sky Ride and Wicked Twister crews at the top of slides before. And when they have extra, Ride Prides. Back in the day when I was a red tag, I enjoyed a day of slide work. It was good for working on a tan and it beat actually having to work at my normal job. I was always the first to volunteer.
I just got a job as a garud, they called me for my interview and said i was in. i cant wait to go back to watching people spaz out in 3 feet of water.
