Yeah. They've barely moved over the past month, now it seems they might have this ride done by Thanksgiving!

I wouldn't go that far but it sure would be nice.

What is there to support the theory of an inline twist on the launch side? There's nothing peculiar about the way the newest, vertical pieces of track are set up on the launch side... in fact from the angle of the webcams it looks exactly like Xcelerator - it will twist and "level out" to complete the top hat at the same time. The interesting thing to look at is the track on the "down" side... as if it wasn't already clear by looking at the supports, it is clearer now that there will be an inline twist on the down side.

If you look closely at the new piece of track on the launch side, it appears to have a slight inward tilt. It is most visible from the ground level cam, but it is not up very often. I could be wrong, but I was just curious if anyone else saw this.

Also, I do agree that the downward side will be inline. The way the last piece of track moves away from the tower would support this. Look at the beachcam for further re-assurance.

* It now appears as if they are adding to the tower. They have really done alot of work today.

I thought they were finished, but it does indeed look like the tower will be added to tonight. Wow! So much has been done today!

I know what it is. They workes have no power at home do to the recent storms so they are staying at work late tonight
rollercoast03, Xcelerator also has that "inward tilt" on its pullup, and it still only twists 90 degrees. (pic)

will the launch system use hydraulics or some type of electric motor (lim or something)...i would think that would be the only choices....does anyone have an idea??? tnx
Hydraulics, probably. That seems like the most logical. LIM's, like on WT come pre-mounted. Hydraulic launch is the most probabal. But who knows what they could do next.
DEFANATLY HYDROLICS. LIM's nor LSM's can catapult a car that fast (0-110 in under 2 seconds, geez, that fast!)

It'll work a little something like this.

Wow Montu, that's a very impressive explanation... thanks a lot! I knew the basics of the hydraulic launch system but that page covers EVERYTHING.

that was a very good explaination. i would agree with you in everything you said.

If your not having fun, what are you having?

Their starting to build another level now.
The piece they added to the top of the back column was this one. The end nearest the camera is the top.
Next piece going up on the launch side column is this one. It's been sitting at the base of the tower for a few weeks. The support arm looks to be positioned to support a vertical piece of track. The arm should be pointing toward the MF track on the island.
Can't wait till tomorrow!

Looking at the track at the very top, it looks as if the top-hat is going to be bent away from the tower at the top - as if a giant grabbed the top and tried to "peel" it off the tower. I now understand what Jeff meant when he said the top-hat wouldn't be 90-degrees. It also supports the twisting 270 degrees clockwise on the way down: after the train crests the top-hat, the track will twist so the train is on the side pointing towards the back of the tower, coming down at an angle close to, but not exactly 90-degrees. The twisting continues on the way down as the train passes the point where the track is closest to the tower, by then it will be back on the side pointing away from the tower into the pullout. I'm not sure if the tower would get in the way of doing this b/c I haven't seen close-up photos of how this latest track is mounted, but this is my best guess as to how the track will twist.
