Meeting people on here before you go is definitly the best move to make, so that way when you get to the park you don't feel alone. There are always past Cedar Point employees that would love to help you out with anything that you may need help with, including myself. If you need any advise or have any questions feel free to IM me on AIM, my screen name is Bootz3456 same as on here.

In my two years experience there, I have had approximately 0% luck with moving in with random roommates of whom I have never met. I'd definitely suggest making arrangements beforehand. Oh, and live in the 1500s if at all possible :)

I somehow got lucky with a roommate last year. It was horrible when he moved out and the airconditioner went with him. :(
I'm rooming with a friend this season, which should be cool.

yeah, sorry Craig, we're rooming together this summer. Last season when i got there, it was a little confusing with rooming, but it all got worked out. When I got there, they were having trouble with housing, since i think about 300 of us all showed up the same weekend, never helps. So I was put in a room with 2 other guys over at Commons. It was a great time i thought. One of my roomates had his computer and was really cool about letting me use it, and then he also had a tv/dvd player and a fridge, he ROCKED, so Cody, if u read these, U ROCK! Anyways, i liked the commons dorms. I had a lot of memorable times there, with the fire alarms, and the one night that the place i was staying in the power went out and the fire alarms went off. We didn't get to bed till like 4am, no air conditioning, it was awful, but life went on, it was just one bad day that i can think of. The rest was great. If you make friends with the people who scan your card to get you in, then it really makes it nice to come home. On top of that, if you make friends with the ladies in the store, then you're in good hands. They watch out for everyone, THEY ROCK! Anyways, Room mates come in all different ways when you're at CP. You'll make friends, people will move in and out sometimes, if people quit. It's a lot of fun. And Craig, i'll bring the fridge.

The desk workers in the store are awesome, I'll vouch for that. Don't know how many times they helped me out last summer.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Hey i'll be looking for a roommate also. You can find me on my myspace.......myspace.com/hockeystephen. Or you drop me an IM.....i'm coasterfreaksp.

If you're used to have a barbed wire fence surrounding your home and having 5+ officers look you over on your way back to your room when you come home from work, then yes, it can become just like home. ;)
I actually had pretty good luck. I didn't wind up starting fulltime until June and by then, a lot of rooms were booked. I wound up just taking a room and the two guys I wound up rooming with were pretty cool. We had a lot in common. They both worked at TGI Fridays and worked real late, so I'd usually get home before them, and leave in the morning before they even got up. Later one left, and the other switched to Breakers to be closer to work, so for a while, I had no roommates, and slowly acquired 2 more towards the end of my contract. Overall, I felt I got really lucky in this regard, compared to some of the stories I've heard.

You were very lucky, haha. My boyfriend roomed with 3 guys who, despite Jeff talking to them about it numerous times, slept in his bed, and, on our last day, bled all over his sheets and pillows. (It was the grossest thing I have ever seen.)

Yeah, if it's at all possible for you to arrange to room with people you know, do it. I got relatively lucky my first year, but my second year kinda sucked until things finally settled down and I had my final "set" of roommates. Of course, by that point it had been arranged, haha. I'd never go back to having randoms, though, there's just too many people with too many..."eccentricities"...to make me want to go through that again. There are other, better ways of meeting new people than having to share a tiny space with them. For what it's worth, I say roomming with people you've only met over the internet is only marginally better than roomming with strangers, but that's just my opinion (I'm picky about roommates, though).
Don't freak out about it completely, though, if you can't find someone to live with in advance. One good thing I can say for CP Housing is that they are very flexible with allowing people to move around. So once you've met your crew and some other people (and I guarantee that there will be plenty of people who will be looking for roommates), you can easily move.
One of the big reasons that I'm choosy about roommates is that for a lot of situations, you can be held responsible for things done in your room by your roommates. This is true even if you technically had nothing to do with it (this is especially applicable in terms of drinking and/or drug use). I'm not trying to be a wet blanket or say never to drink or any of that crap, but it's something to remember, especially if your roommates' transgressions exceed an illicit bottle of Captain. It's something that doesn't get mentioned on here or at the park very often, but I've seen people fired for it. If you find yourself in that kind of situation, let your TL, Supervisor, or Manager know. They can get you moved quickly to get you out of it and avoid employment or legal trouble.

If you can find a roommate early I would suggest it. I roomed with some real dirtballs in the commons apartments. The guys in my room were nice enough but the other people in the apartment were gross. I pretty much only slept in there.
In 05 I came down here with my friend Kevin and we stayed in one of the apartments. Our housemates were alright, but we lucked out with our direct roommate Justin. He turned out to be normal, hehe.
In 06 Kevin and I fully planned our roommates and all was good until the desk people f'd up and gave us a weird guy that worked at Famous Daves, we called him Cocoa Pebbles, long story. But in the end it all worked out.
In 07 I didn't end up working until the end of the season and I had a rather creepy roommate, eeek.
And now I am currently residing in sunny Sandusky with some of my friends here and am staying here during the season.
If anyone has questions about housing at all or basically about anything at the Point, feel free to IM me at Top Thrill Ryan, or email me at ryan.woirol@gmail.com
