Mantis Man is right on. The guard let us in with no problem, he even told us that they had been testing the lights earlier in the day, and hopefully we'd get a glimpse of the testing. We were in there for an hour just walking around, and enjoying the beautiful day, all while taking pictures of TTD and MF.

I think Thrilkill just got screwed with a "negative nancy" security guard. Better luck next time.

It probably depends heavly on what officer is at the gate. I've ventured up to CP in the off season plenty of times, and one time it's, "no you have to turn around", the next its "just don't go past the second gate". It really depends who is up there.

Maybe it's just me, but driving from Michigan (and yes, I live in Michigan again.. no more Texas crap for me~!) just so you could see it, and that's it... would be sheer torture.

It all depends how far a drive it would be for you. If you're within a 2 hour drive, it's worth it. I live in Cleveland, that's about an 1 1/2 hour drive. It was worth the drive. That's why I started this post. If you can do it on a clear sunny day, it makes the trip that much more worth it.
