What are you talking about?

Dave, do you think that the reason they want to push you back is because they also want you to sink further into the seat? There's a fairly good slant there (though nothing like Skyhawk's). If you could straighten your legs, I don't think you could really push off of anything.

I think he's referring to back after the construction tour you said there was rubber bands on the seatbelts instead of a stitched in go/no go line, and you argued that it was indeed a rubber band.

^ Thanks, Ben.

Yes, I was referring to this. It just goes to show you don't HAVE to be at the park to be able to tell what things are from pictures.

Jeff's avatar

Wow, you really need to get a life. Who remembers something like that? There was a rubber band on at least one belt when I was there that day. Perhaps there was stitching at the time too. Who cares? Are you telling me I don't know what I had in my hand at the time?

No offense to halltd as this goes to pretty much alot of the posters out there, but this is why I post less and less on PointBuzz or anywhere else, seriously. You get crucified for being wrong or even being right if someone disagrees with you. Sure I don't see eye-to-eye with Jeff always, but to bring up something so insigificant such as "OMFG it's a rubberband YOURE WRONG!!! LOLLO-ROXORZ" from five months ago is just mind boggling.

Get a freaking life! Who the hell cares? At least one point in our lives we are wrong and some people are wrong more than others. Get over it! The online pissing matches make for bad content much like responses that take up pages of forums that pick apart every single sentence of a previous post, all the while taking everything out of context. These are the posts I end up skipping. This kind of crap drives away those who are actually knowledgable about things and want to give their input yet they just don't want to put up with the crap that happens.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, I can't be the only one who feels this way.

You're not wrong, and you're definitely not the only one that feels that way Rob.

Do you want to know why everyone else does it? Because the precedent is set by the webmaster. That's why. Jeff goes out of his way to try and make my (and other's) posts look uneducated. The rubber band case is just one example. People brought up the yellow stitching and he immediately was like "you guys weren't there, it's just a rubber band, you don't know what you're talking about...". When people call him out on it, he calls them a cry baby or tells them to get a life. Then he directs them to his little blog where he makes fun of all the posters on his websites. Yeah, real classy. If Jeff hadn't made such a big deal about my opinions and thoughts on things, then I wouldn't have taken the two seconds to find an old post via Google.

The same applies to others too, though. If someone has an opinion or suggestion on anything park related, there's also a member to say their thoughts are dumb, unfounded, pointless, speculative, etc... Even the people that obviously put effort into their posts are knocked down. Yet, when new people come on and post mindless drivel, it's allowed to continue.

Well Rob, you obviously didn't read his post. Or something. :)

Well, I have to say I see a little of both sides here. But Tim, I have seen you make fun of people (LOL!!) just as the people you say put others down. When anyone does that, it does scare off those of us that are not as learned in this realm as Dave, but still have an opinion.

But I also see the need to correct someone with erroneous information. I think it simply could be done without making it hurtful or personal. All I can say about the restraints is, I am basically small (5'4, 110, well maybe 115 ;)), & I hated getting my head hit on the twists. If I could figure out where to keep my head situated throughout the ride without ending up with a headache, I would like the ride better.

heh, I remember lots of things. But don't crucify me. I just have a good memory, and thought the whole argument was stupid.

For me (I'm an imposing 5'7"), I didn't find the twists on the first half of the course to be problematic. I simply had to anticipate the transitions (even though it was my first time riding) and keep my head as forward as possible, and I was fine. However, on the two weird dive things on the second half of the course, I wasn't able to properly anticipate them, and thus experienced a good deal of head banging. It was certainly not a deal-breaker, but it was definitely noticeable.

See, it's comments like that that fuel the hatred around here. If you thought Tim was out of whack, why did you have to go an antagonize the situation?

I have no sympathy for you and think Tim's comment was rather humorous, and I remembered the rubber band comment because I knew it wasn't one. He just beat me to it.

In all fairness (and, yes, I am a hypocrite), its people not letting sleeping dogs lie that fuels the 'hatred' around here, as much as it is anything else.

Good lord. I have the answer for all of you:

Don't like it here?

Don't come here anymore.

There must be a million websites on the internet. Lots of them are coaster related and a few of them are even focused on Cedar Point.

If you don't like what happens here then, by all means, be an adult and choose not to return. It really is THAT simple.

But, the constant "bitching about the bitching "and the "he's not treating so and so fairly" and the "smack downs just for the sake of making yourself feel like a man" is just so tired.

But the other issue is the number of new "what will the crowds be like" posts or just the sheer mis-spelled, no-punctuation, chat-speek posts that have been cropping up.

When you post a link to the FAQ and the other posts, or to the forum guidelines (in the case of the AvBvC threads) you get jumped on for not being friendly to new posters. For some reason having standards is taboo and everyone should be able to post how they want.

Jugga...that isn't anything new. Every summer the same exact thing happens. The kids get out of school, they don't have anything else to do, they come around here. In late-August those posts are going to drop again.

I guess we should be happy the kidies aren't surfing porn or trying to figure out how to make bombs.

Why? Both of those will result in less teen pregnancies. ;)

I know it's a cyclical thing, and to be honest, I don't mind the posts so much as the reaction when I post a link to the FAQ or to another thread. Its the reaction of people when I do that somehow I'm mean for not posting a 10 page dissertation on why the crowds are going to be heavy that day.

There's hardly a monopoly on that. Many others participate in the sarcasm, antagonizing, thread hijacking, etc., that occurs on occasion. Some people even complain about certain behaviors / personality-types when, in fact, it is their own style as well.

I have no sympathy for you and think Tim's comment was rather humorous

Must have been OK to antagonize in that situation? See, also: paragraph above.

I haven't noticed much negative reaction to simply providing a link, a simple answer, or a friendly nudge into the right direction. When the thread gets derailed, or 10 people need to tell the original poster how stupid he/she is, then there's a problem. It's usually better to let the thread pass you by and let a moderator take care of it, than to make a comment outside of "check the FAQ."
