Johnny Rockets being replaced by arcade.

They turned the food court in the original carousel pavilion at Kennywood into a Johnny Rockets a few years back.....

A few mentions of Fascination....

Hand is in the air....if CP wants to have a vote for it.

Yeah, I thought about Vegas after I said that. I haven’t been in years except to pass through the airport, but I’ve noticed on videos that they’re in love with the various burger places found around the country. Johnny Rockets, Steak n Shake, Shake Shack, White Castle and In-N-Out among others have casino and strip locations. Many of those are regional destination fast food brands (is that a thing?) and Vegas has visitors from around the world who would be thrilled to try one or all of them. Makes sense.
It’s no secret that malls in the US are dying and that’s where a lot of JR’s around here could be found. Strip malls too. Maybe the company found a way to make up for flagging sales and keep the brand afloat by hooking up with amusement parks. Not only did Cedar Fair parks bite, but so did Six Flags and places like Kennywood.
As for Cedar Point, have we noticed that they are trending away from well-known fast food brands? Add Johnny to Subway, Pink’s, and Chick-fil-A and the sad thing is there will be visitors who will be disappointed. Breaker’s Coffee Shop converted to Perkins so that’s in the opposite direction. What’s left? Chickie and Pete’s, Famous Dave’s, Friday’s, and Melt, but I suppose those are more sit-down locations.
Heck, I don’t know. It’s seems like an odd business with no rhyme or reason.

I would argue that the definition for this "arcade" has literally nothing to do with games. And an open format could house anything. Including food stalls. But hey, if you think you already know what they mean without actually knowing, no one will ever make you rethink your position. It could be games, it could be food. I'm happy to be able to admit I truly don't know.

Maybe this will be the Beercade that I'd love to see in the park. Walk-up bar with an open-area arcade around it. They could even serve quick-serve snacks if they wanted to.

Just a comment on Johnny Rockets; I just watched one of those "Undercover Boss" episodes, it was Johnny Rockets. Hilarious attempts at singing & dancing by the Boss. I'd be equally inept.

I'm curious, why is Cedar Point Park LLC registered with a Texas PO Box?

Cedar Fair headquarters in NC makes sense but Texas seems odd to me.

Still haven't been able to uncross these circuits...

Yeah something is telling me that they’re using the term “arcade” in an architectural sense and we’re not going to see it turned into Coliseum2.0

Something tells me that the term “arcade”, as applied to an amusement park, means one thing and one thing only. Coin or credit op redemption games in a room.

Well, I sure was incorrect in my assumption that this was just fabricated. Spelling aside, JR is still on the list of dining locations while the previously announced places leaving are no longer on there.

Oh well.

As was mentioned above, bringing Fascination back in some fashion would be a dream, and RCMAC you are correct about the old jitney arcade being replaced by a First Aid.

The one that cracks me up the most in Vegas was the Heart Attack Grill downtown. People over 350 lbs eat free, they call their burgers the double, triple and quadruple Bypass, they cook their fries in pure lard, and if you don't eat your entire meal, the scantily-clad "nurses" will paddle you (I think you can decline. I would hope you could anyways. Videos show these girls really winding up and taking much joy in making grown men yell out in pain!). Oh, they also sell packs of Lucky Strike cigs in case you didn't feel your arteries closing up after your meal!

I would absolutely disagree. Coliseum 2.0? Nah.

It does seem too close to the current arcade to have both of them be arcades. But putting an arcade in the Johnny Rockets location seems to be a better fit as it is close to the carnival games area. Sort of like what King's Island does with their Coney Island area. The arcade in the coliseum seems to be out of place in that context.

Maybe this is the first step towards renovating the Kiddie Kingdom area.

So the old arcade will be moved there... that's intriguing. Maybe a dark ride at the old arcade...

Just another unfounded theory... If they are planning on an actual game arcade there, maybe move some of the coliseum machines to a smaller location at Johnny's this year. Close off the back half of the coliseum for storage for a while. Then move the rest to a new location in the future and reimagine (or demolish) the colliseum into whatever a few years from now.

Tony has confirmed that Johnny Rockets is out and will be replaced by an arcade.

Confirming the JR arcade does not mean the original is a goner. They had many arcades over the years besides the main. They had games for a while in the front of the Pirate ride, there was a crane arcade next to Pink’s, Starbucks was an arcade, Gemini Frestyle was an arcade, Jitney was actually both first aid and build a bear. There was also one outside the magnum gate.

Every arcade is a beercade if you believe in yourself.

But by beercade do you mean 1) a place where one can consume beer while playing coin-operated gamery or 2) beercade where one is merely strolling through a covered passageway with arches along one or both sides?

Because beercade can mean more than one thing, ya know.

Y’all crack me up thinking that there can’t possibly be a games arcade in that location because there’s already one 50 yards away. As if CP will just shutter the space rather than think of a way to encourage patrons to spend money.
