It's so nice out shouldn't Cedar Point be open today?

JuggaLotus's avatar

Not necessary. The only reason they are saying snow is because the low is supposed to be 1 degree below freezing. So, there could be snow coming down, and some possibly accumulation on the grass, but there will be none to worry about by the time its finished (if it even starts).

Plus Ive been there on days when its snowed in October, that didnt stop the throngs from being there ;).

Why is it that the same weather that gets everyone pumped out to go to Halloweekends in the fall turns off people from going in the spring?

Please dont take that question too seriously, I one day at CP when it was that cold was enough. I did not enjoy having to put on 7 layers, two winter hats and huge puffy gloves in order to enjoy my midnight Magnum rides.

My all time favorite trip ever to the park included 40 degree temperature which meant 7 layers were necessary. It was ridiculous, but that's what made it fun.

Here's how I see it. When it hits 60+ degrees in April everyone whips out the shorts and t-shirts since it is "warm out". When it hits 60+ in August/September everyone whips out the sweatshirts.

We're ready for the warm weather now, but in Sept/Oct. we're ready for it to cool down.

I'm ready for 100 degree weather year round.

Yeah, same here. Whatever happened to our warm weather, Al Gore? ;)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I agree with bholcomb i absoultely hate the cold weather but 100 degrees might be a bit excesive :o)

Cedar point = LOVE ♥

100 degrees is no good. It makes everyone sweat too much. When you sit behind someone on a coaster the sweat flies off them and hits you in the face. Quite a nice sensation I must say, Uh, no!

I agree with that, actually I get sun sick, so I can't go on days when it's really hot. I went one year back in the 80's when I was a kid, 5 people crammed into a Dodge Omni, had the hatchback down and got so sick from the heat I just puked up water all day long.. last time I'll ever go to Cedar Point in that kind of heat.

Needless to say, I went back with my mom to the hotel for the rest of the day in the nice air conditioned room we had.

That's why I go in May. I'll take 50 degrees with a chilly breeze over 95 degrees and 100% humidity any day. Plus the crowds are much lighter.

Your right about that, I too take as many days in May as possible.. also late August until October as well. I hate the hot, steamy sun that you can cook an egg on the ground type of days.. ugh.

Must be no one cares to celebrate the one year aniversary of the snowstorm on April 11th? well, in Lansing, anyway. :)

Instead of snow this year we have a tornado watch in effect right now.. how's that for celebration! :) LOL (in Wayne County Michigan)

In Wayne County?

That's not a tornado, its a BullS*** Storm coming from Detroit City Hall while KKK is being questioned.

Yay tornado watches for Michigan! *looks around* Yeahhh...no!

So stoked for 2010 :]

Even today isn't all that bad and this is the day we were supposed to get snow.

Oh yeah now see why you just dont " open " CP because it was 40 stinkin degrees today and snowed lightly!..thats why its not open until May 10th to play it safe people~!

JuggaLotus's avatar

So what should they do in October when its "40 stinking degrees" and drops freezing rain? Should the close then too?

The park opens when it does, but its more to do with staffing and time to get rides maintained than it does with possible weather.

John

^..Yeah ok you must not know your stuff about CP if your saying im saying they could just " close" becuase of bad weather. You dont just open a park becuase its 60 degrees one day..wow and you certaintly cannot just "close" a park..haha..weirdo

It's supposed to be in the 60's all week. CP really could open in the end of April.

Well isnt it to bad that they already set the date for May 10th..cant you people just realize thats not going to change?
