Does anybody know how much say, a coaster like Bizarro at SFNE or Formula Rossa is down? I wonder if those Intamins also experience the same problems.
Also speaking of Intamin, they are building a new record breaking ride at Ferrari World.

You know, that phrasing bothers me, and enthusiasts always use it. It implies that Intamin chooses to build something. Ferrari World is building a ride, and they've commissioned Intamin to do it.

To me, that phrasing suggests that Intamin is building a record-breaking ride of their own volition; the park the ride is at seems secondary. Ferrari World is building a record-breaking coaster, and has hired a company to oversee the construction.
I have ASD and very easily get lost in the details....
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
I'm at a toss up on this one, but technically companies such as Intamin and B&M design rides and oversee construction, correct? The actual construction is performed by contractors, so technically the contractors are the ones who build the rides.
Unless I am mistaken and companies such as B&M and Intamin have welders, iron workers, electricians etc... The correct statements would be: Cedar Fair paid for Banshee which was designed by B&M and built by contractors.
I apologize for the phrasing I used. It was just what came to me when I was typing so I said it.

I certainly understand the business reasons for going with B&M over Intamin given the track record of the latter.
However, that is very disappointing to me. I think the sense of height and speed are diminished with B&M's wide gauge track. Fine for loopers where height and speed aren't the focus. But for a hyper or a giga I prefer Intamin's track and rolling stock.
I also think that a significant part of the sensation of a rollercoaster is rate of transition, whether that is speed or a turn or element-to-element. Wide gauge track and trains I think minimizes this a bit. For example, I get that "lose my stomach" feeling much more on Magnum than MF, though the height and speed is less. I theorize that the reason for this is that Magnum has a greater speed transition going down the hill (you start off slow as opposed to MF where you are thrown over the top of the hill by comparison) and there is a notable change in the angle of drop about a third of the way down Magnum's hill. (Yes I know they are both narrow gauge track- I'm simply illustrating the effect of transition rates on ride experience, and I think wide gauge train and track are inherently less capable of more abrupt and rapid transitions).
If B&M had built MF from the exact same Stengel design, I postulate that the ride experience would not be as good for these reasons.
And I just think B&M track and support structure is an eyesore, whereas I think Intamin track and MF-style scaffold support looks like a work of art.
A note on Formula Rossa, since it was mentioned in this thread. I rode it a couple of months ago. What is noteworthy to me is that there are magnetic trim brakes immediately after the launch that go all the way up the first hill. As soon as that 150 MPH launch is reached, the ride is immediately throttled way back to what feels like MF speeds. So, I wasn't all that impressed compared to what we have at CP. It was also interesting that the whole Ferrari World park, including FR's queue and station is enclosed in an indoor dome due to the excessive desert heat- with the notable exception of FR's course which is outdoors. And, you have to put on goggles before boarding the train due to the speed and desert sands in the air. Crazy!
I feel the exact opposite about the look of the coasters. I think the B&M support system looks great, Gatekeeper, at least in my opinion, is one of the best looking coasters around. I think that it's an awesome sight and I spend time watching it everytime I visit CP.
I think the B&M hypers look great as well, such as Diamondback. Fury 325 seems to be another great looking coaster although I have yet to see it in person.
The thing I miss about Intamin is how every coaster was different. I feel like every B&M coaster is similar with the only difference being the trains. Millennium, Dragster, Wicked Twister and Maverick are all unique and different. In my opinion, Rougarou, Raptor, GateKeeper and Valravn? are similar with the only difference being the trains. This goes for other B&M coasters as well.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
I keep waiting for the Intamin trend to change, but Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa last year indicates things are still the same as always.
Falcon's Fury scheduled opening date: May 1, 2014.
Actual opening date: September 2, 2014

So does the closure of both Zumanjaro and Lex Luthor at both Six Flags parks a couple weeks ago. Although I'm not sure if it is Intamin's fault, but maybe attaching drop rides to existing ride structures isn't a good idea :)
From reviews I've been reading, the Fury 325 experience rivals MF. I don't think manufacturer changes the experience. I think MF wouldn't be much different if it was a B&M ride except it would use a chain but that doesn't really affect the experience.
And I do like the B&M supports better, it doesn't obstruct the view as much as the grid supports on other rides.

Though B&M supports are nice, I don't think anyone can honestly say that MF is an ugly looking coaster.

I was a the park last week and I acknowledge the reliability issues with Intamin compared to B&M and its a shame because I really do enjoy Intamin rides more than B&M.
Look at all the people that cheer when getting off of Maverick, MF and TTD. I never heard the same level of cheers on any other ride in the park. It just doesnt make sense though for parks to keep dishing money out for rides that are not reliable.
It sounds like you haven't been on Raptor or GateKeeper.

When I worked Raptor, it was amazing how loud the train full of people were when we asked "How was your ride?"
Raptor, yes!
Gatekeeper, not so much after the first year hysteria wore off.
