iron dragon paint

Well, the public sees about 5,106' of Magnum if they ride. My analogy of the car in the driveway holds plenty, and you explained it for me somewhat. Few people see what I drive, even fewer care what it looks like. Millions go to CP, ride Magnum. Therefore it should be presentable to keep the reputation CP has. I'm not saying Magnums current state detracts the appearance/cleanliness in a major way, but anyone (enthusiast or any guest) can appreciate a bright, shiny steel structure, compared to the same structure that is faded, and has spot rust. Bottom line is CP knows its due for paint, and in the future it will get done. I just think most of us thought it would have been done by now instead of a few rides that did get painted, because of its greater need (not saying the others didnt need it), and its popularity.

I ask this with all seriousness, Is there really an overbearing amount of rust on Magnum? And to put a little side note on this issue, just how much of Magnum does the public see up close? Of course they see what is in the station, and the very first part of it but when looking up so far you really can't pick out good/bad paint can ya?

And btw, the analogy of the car in the driveway doesn't really hold a whole lot of water. Not that many people take rides day in and day out with your vehicle, and to the average guy that may be jogging down your road and sees it, he thinks little if anything about it. Trust me, I see it through your eyes, I really do, but like I said, the average park-goer really doesn't care that Magnum hasn't been painted since it was born.

They can also appreciate new restaurants, paint job on ID, paint job on Snake River Falls, new siding on the dodgems, more cabins on Lighthouse Point, an indoor waterpark in Castaway Bay, a new section of roofing for Breakers, and I'm sure there are more.

It is just not Magnum's turn yet.

Yes, I think its sort of fun going back on opening day every year and trying to point out the "minor" things in the park that have changed from the previous year others may not notice easily.

Patience is a virtue, possess it if you can, blah, blah, blah, and I forgot the rest of the poem.

Don't worry. Paint will come to the Magnum and it will be shiny again. And there will be much rejoicing. :)

Caution: Foamy isn't quite as "PC" as Strong Bad.

I'll pass. Monty Python never caught my interest.

Maggie will get her paint, and when she does several people will have to change their underwear. Maggie's gonna look nice!

Not so much moved...more like changed the angle of it so that it faces the front of the park more. You can see a picture of it here.

I have a comment about Iron Dragon. I've noticed in the Cleveland cam that there are lights going up the first lift. Has it just been a long off season or were these not there before?

I'm pretty sure there have always been lights on both the lift hills, but I don't ever remember them being that bright.

It looks much better now. Does anyone remember when the first lift hill would go up half way and slow down to a complete stop then start moving again? I'm sure it's fixed now...

It does that by design. I think it slows down until a block is clear. It's the same reason that when running three trains, MF's lift speeds up at the top. It does this when the last train has moved completely into the unload station and is clear of the holding brake (or whatever they call it there - safeties maybe?)

If I remember correctly, they call them the safeties on Iron Dragon. But yes, the lifthill has had lights on it in the past.

Aren't the Iron Dragon lift hill lights usually off though? I figured they are there if the train needs to be unloaded on the lift at night.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Maybe they used to use the lights at night. Perhaps I could search for an older picture of Iron Dragon at night.

I noticed a couple lights last year but not as much as what they've added this year.

since we're listing all the new stuff... railings and buildings have been painted all over the park. They went crazy painting railings and buildings this year.

Arms down.....Arms down.....Arms down.......Arms down.....Arms down....Arms down...(you think they would get it the first time?!)

2004- Demon Drop (first year)

To add to that, so far the Sky Ride building closest to the main gate has been painted blue, kind of a royal blue maybe. It looks.....interesting, but I kind of like it.

EDIT: Just another question, from the breakers cam the breakers parking lot looks like the lines were repainted, I wonder if that happened also?
