iron dragon paint

with the new paint on iron dragon im guessing the mist on the final helix wont be of much use

What does new paint have to do with the mist? Makes no sense to me.

meant with the bright yellow, it wont be as noticeable
I don't know about you, but I think that fog can obscure any color. It won't have any effect on the mist.

I would think witht the yellow paint it would think it would look more noticable..

I processed in yesterday... Iron dragon is NOT YELLOW... it is REALLY REALLY ORANGE. the webcam has it right people... it's orange! Oh, and I don't know where else I should put this and it's insignificant enought to make a whole new thread.... Snake river falls is currently being painted. And dodgem had some cosmetic work done.

WHAT ABOUT MAGNUM!
I knew Dodgem was being resided or something like that because the company my dad works for did that. I was hoping he would get to work on it so he could take me in the park with him this off-season ;).

Dragster120, Magnum isn't going to be painted this year.

2004 Stats coming........after May 8th

The fog will continue to be noticeable because it isn't going to blend in with the yellow. The fog is somewhat translucent to opaque, so it appears white, so the fog will still be noticeable. It feels good in the hot sun, just don't like the source of the water.

Magnum has not been touched.... believe me... I was picking up litter at magnum for a good 30 minutes today, it hasen't seen any paint this off season. I don't think it's going to either.

It's a damn tragedy...

Will Foamy be the next Strong Bad? I guess we will see...

What is up with everybody and their paint woes? Does the color of the paint or the state of it on the ride itself actually take away/add to the ride experience itself? Will any of you not ride Magnum because it's paint job hasn't been completed? Sheesh.. a tragedy? I think not. For a real tragedy, watch your nightly national news for about 5 minutes.

As for the added experience to the ride....

When they repainted Raptor there was an immediate and noticeable difference that the ride was overall faster and therefore more intense throughout the entire ride. This is most likely because it cuts down on friction since it finally got its rails painted. It would be awesome if Magnum could get that kind of result out of it. But if not for enhanced ride experience, how about that it would really be nice to have Magnum look new again. It's an icon of the park and it's a shame to see its supports all rusty and its track all dull. I know that Raptor and Mantis look vastly better now that they have been repainted.

I wonder if the acquisition of Geauga Lake had anything to do with it...like they didn't want to stretch their resources too thin maybe?

Will Foamy become the next Strong Bad? I guess we will find out...

Caution: Foamy isn't quite as "PC" as Strong Bad.

From a distance, Magnum looks fine. Only a small portion of the track is inside the park, so repainting Magnum won't have the impact that repainting Raptor or Mantis did. The station looks fine, and that is really the only thing that is very noticeable from the midway.

Cedar Fair is probably being conservative because they dont want to over spend and go int o debt like Six Flags did
The car that sits in my driveway is for getting me to where I want to go. If it starts to rust, its time for a paintjob. It would look unapealing, appear I dont take care of my property, and the value would lower. It would still run and drive, but what would others think when they see it? Magnum definately needs its paint, I thought for this opening season it would maybe have it. I guess not. CP will get to it soon though I am sure.

But seriously folks, does the average park-goer really give a rats arse about the paint on a coaster? (Heck, some of them just point and say stuff like, "lets go ride that big blue one Dad!") Nah, they're just stoked that they're there at the park and getting to ride the cool coasters and other attractions. Sure, it'd be nice to see every coaster shiny and new with a purty paint job (just look what a difference it made in Mantis) but when folks get to frettin' about the faded/chipping conditions of paintjobs it's getting a bit over the top don'tcha think? ;)

Yes they do, and thats why CP paints coasters when they need it when they can. Picture yourself or any "average park goer" walking through the park if they didnt. Its not over the top at all. Its one more thing that adds to the oustanding cleanliness of the park. Does anyone here think rust is a good thing on a steel coaster? That is a whole other issue why it matters.

You just solved the problem. CP must not think that painting Magnum this year is necessary, or don't have the resorces available because there are other things to do in the park. It is not that big of an issue.

And the purchase of WoA has nothing to do with CP. The money allocated to CP and the other CF parks for maintenance and beautification was bugeted over a year ago. It's not like Monty is going to just want to one day say "Hey, we are painting Magnum today", and it is done in a week, this is a planned event.

It is possible that it could be painted during the season like a portion of Mantis was done last year. ID was done in the off season because it is more protected from Lake Erie than Magnum. Don't sweat the small stuff!

I ask this with all seriousness, Is there really an overbearing amount of rust on Magnum? And to put a little side note on this issue, just how much of Magnum does the public see up close? Of course they see what is in the station, and the very first part of it but when looking up so far you really can't pick out good/bad paint can ya?

And btw, the analogy of the car in the driveway doesn't really hold a whole lot of water. Not that many people take rides day in and day out with your vehicle, and to the average guy that may be jogging down your road and sees it, he thinks little if anything about it. Trust me, I see it through your eyes, I really do, but like I said, the average park-goer really doesn't care that Magnum hasn't been painted since it was born.
