If you consider a telephone line to be an "internet-ready room", then consider all of Cedar Point Housing to be "Internet-Ready"....lol....there is NOTHING else available but dial-up!!!

What'd you mean? Like a Cedar Point account that we dial into and CP covers the actual 'net line? That's a pretty interesting idea.

Well, if you've got a newer cell phone and free nights/weekends/whatever then you can use that for your laptop or whatnot. That's probably what i'll end up doing, as I get speeds a little quicker than an ISDN line. One of my buddies has an 802.11 card in his laptop and I've got one in mine, so I'll share the connection.

Is it wrong to feel like a nerd right now?

I know setting up 802.11b on a T1 would be "simple..."

But cost effective for the park, and enough bandwidth?

Bandwidth probably wouldn't be any more of a problem than getting a phone line to dial-out for dial-up access, now that I really think about it. I remember the phone lines being all used up for hours at a time occasionally last season, and not being able to dial-up because of it.

It all comes down to cost-effectiveness and whether CP would see the benefit in providing this type of benefit to it's employees. I believe it would be a very popular and widely used benefit...

Most of the people I know have 802.11b in their homes right now. I have a desktop, laptop, and Pocket PC connected 802.11b.

It's an expense without a return on investment. I'd be really shocked to see it ever happen.
