Can ANYONE name a coaster that is only L-TH-B and basically only makes a big oval shaped circuit?
Uhm, while it's not in the same layout, Hypersonic XLC at PKD is pretty much a launch, tophat, brakes. The tophat doesn't have any twist to it, as it's more of an exaggerated hill rather than an 'element' as we've come to think of a tophat. It also has a bunny hill. But, that's as close of a comparison you'll find.
Face it guys, this is what a "rocket" coaster on crack is. I imagine this to be the signature rocket coaster, and further installations at other Cedar Fair parks will look more like Xcelerator. Everyone in the chain will be getting either a Wicked Twister close (Steel Venom, anyone?), or an Xcelerator clone after #16 is unveiled to the public. Granted, that's simply my $.02 and not based on any 'insider' information.

Of course, I have also previously mentioned my other pet theory that somehow this will be a DUAL LAUNCH coaster with two trains racing up each side of the hill and then crossing somehow at the top. I am still holding out hope for that type of layout and I think that the evidence is that the Intimin Project name is apparently "Dragster".
Not with magnetic brakes, it won't. Xcelerator hits the brakes around 80 or so. It is not as smooth as MF, but nothing like a friction brake hard stop at much slower speeds. I wouldn't be surprised if the magnets are designed with a bit less pull on #16 than they are on Xcelerator, to further smooth out the stop.
It's going to HURT people if it simply grinds them to a stop after hitting speeds in excess of 90 MPH!!
The major costs for the ride are the launch system and building that huge tower. For a relatively small cost, they should be able to stretch the ride out with additional elements.
