What's wrong with Greyhound? I'm not from the US so not very familiar with Greyhound... I will arrive in New York City, spend a few days there and then travel to CP... I was thinking about travelling from NYC to Sandusky with Greyhound, instead of Amtrak. But I get kinda suspicious now, because of all the negativity about Greyhound. :)
So please... enlighten me! :)
It's been in my experience that Greyhound stations are usually places where alot of the vagrants of society congregate. I had a friend who used to take Greyhound alot during college and she'd always get harassed by homeless people. It's pretty much nothing but crackheads and bums. Occasionally you'll find someone who is just one of the two, but thats pretty rare. Even less frequent will you find someone whose neither.
I hear the Cleveland station ALWAYS has police officers. Thats a positive.
Greyhound has always been like the least expensive way to travel and often the only way to go shortest distances. Amtrak is often not terribly practical for most travelers. In Europe, trains and buses are common and even cheaper. In the US, most people drive or fly. Gasoline is cheaper too in the states then Europe by comparison. Theres just more reliance on cars here which is why you're not going to really find the upper or working-class people waiting for Greyhound.
I'll be traveling Greyhound. I'm a caucasian female. I will live.
gonna say, where the greyhound station is in Sandusky, you won't find any homeless people. But there is a teddy/ porn shop across the street from it.

ok there is absolutely nothing wrong with greyhound one of the best and cheapest ways to travel but there are some crazy people sometimes on those busses .. some tips to thank me later on ...
Never lose track of your Changeovers ( switching Busses )
Always try for the back seat by the bathroom bring a blanket and a pillow and keep your head and valubles by the window ..
if some one asks you if you want to change seats say no ( the back seat is of course the bed ) . if you give up the back seat your giving up the bed and you will want it if your traveling from NYC to CP !!
Always be wary of the time the driver gives you for break , he will leave with out you!!
at each changover get your own bag - dont have someone else get it cuz it might not get to you when you get to CP .. and stuff could be broken...
if you have a problem talk to your busdriver right away! they are very helpful and are very nice ..
Hope you decide to take grey hound ... Nevermind those other people that have talked bad about it... I always have fun when Im on one and yes everyone should experience GREYHOUND once in there Life ,.. have fun and cant wait for CP '05 ..
=)
