How do I get there?

I will have to fly to Ohio to get to Cedar Point. I was wondering how I'd get there from the airport. Is there a shuttle service that takes you to Sandusky? Coming from California this is really the only choice I have as far as transportation is concerned. Does anyone have any advice as far as how I'd get there?

Thanks!

You should be able to find your way from there.

Yeah new year, and finally got my license, well back in august. Im in need of a trip to the park.

There's no shuttle service, per se. You could contact a place like Tom's Cruz (www.tomscruz.com). Their web site indicates a one-way trip from the Cleveland airport costs $60. That doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me.

I would call Cedar Point HR. I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened and they'll probably have the best solution for you.

You have a couple of options. From Cleveland you can take amtrack or greyhound to Sandusky. Those options are much cheaper if you have time. When you get to Sandusky just call a cab. They don't use meters in Sandusky. They will charge you $5 to $7 for the ride. But I do know I've seen CP do pick ups at the greyhound station. But I don't know the guidelines to get that pick-up service. It seemed only internationals got that treatment. But I'm sure if you call HR they can help you.

Alright, if anyone out there is flying into Cleveland airport the afternoon of May 15th and wants to go in on a stretch Hummer limo from Tomscruz with me let me know. If you want the Excursion instead, tough.

I was thinking of taking Amtrak but then I don't know how I'd get there/how far it would be from the airport? Any tips there?

The problem with Amtrak is that there are only two trains from Cleveland to Sandusky each day and they're both in the middle of the night.

Greyhound has several buses a day. About $15 from Cleveland to Sandusky. To get to the bus station from the airport, you'd have to take the rapid downtown to Tower City. Once downtown, it's a 15-20 minute walk to the bus station or transfer to a bus from Tower City to the Greyhound station. Or, you could take a cab from the airport to the Greyhound station.

Like I said, call HR and ask for their advice. Maybe I'm just old, but to me it's worth the extra $30 for airport-to-door service.

Thanks everyone for your help. I really need to keep this easy and as affordable as possible.

Amtrak wouldn't work. I've figured that out because theres no way I can be at the station at 4am.

The next choice would be Greyhound. I will have alot of luggage with me and taking public transportation in an unfamiliar city alone on top of that doesn't sound like a great option. Taking a taxi to Greyhound might cost $20-$30+ just getting to the station when I could use that money going the direction I need to.

Does anyone know if there are any inexpensive shuttles that go to Sandusky and service the Cleveland airport? Red Vans and Supershuttle are the ones out here I'm familiar with. Basically you share a ride with a few people going in your direction and it may or may not drop them off before you, just depends. It's way cheaper then a taxi or limo (about $25/45 miles) but easier then public transportation.

Just trying to keep it inexpensive. There are nights at Louies to think about :P

Any more info would be appreciated, thanks!

ooh you can drive with me!! i'm driving from washington, but going down to death valley first to see all my friends. yes, i have friends in death valley.. i know that sounds weird.

Showing up for work at CP in a hummer limo...why didn't I think of that?

Still looking around. Haven't come up with many options under $100. Ughh..

Maybe if I end up with the Hummer limo I will pick you all up who are waiting at the employee shuttle stop :P

LondnLish- Hmm, that could be possible. When are you processing in? Feel free to instant message me if you want to talk.

sigh.. you're going to late..I'm processing in april 25th. looks like I'm still driving solo.. ahh i hate driving! And I might be so tempted to stop in vegas and just never leave.. Maybe I'll do that on the way back from CP in october.

Awww fun times!! Brings me back to 2002.

Taking the Greyhound from the airport works out to be around $50. The way I did it was I flew into Cleveland, Took a cab to the Greyhound station ($25) took the greyhound to Sandusky($15 one way) and had CP pick me up (just call housing to have that arranged, They'll only do it if your going to process in and they have the time) or you can get a cab from one of the local companies, they charge around $6. Chances are you'll get there after HR closes, but you can still get into housing, just make sure you have your contract!!

If you have any more questions from a fellow Californian who's done this three years (this is four) I'll be happy to help!

I'd definitely go with the Greyhound route, it's not that expensive and gets you there quickly enough -- just make sure you fly out a day early or something. You can *DEFINITELY* meet some interesting guys on the bus, if you get my drift. Hehe. Of course, some of them are sort of.. well.. "unstable", but taking the bus is an adventure that everyone should take. Just be way wary of anyone wanting a close encounter in the bathroom. :P. Cab fare is relatively cheap once you get to Sandusky and the chance of "mishaps" is much lower since the taxi driver is emplyed by the cab company.

Where are the queens at?

Looks like I'll be flying in the night of the 14th which will get me to Cleveland around 8am the next day. I should be able to hop on the Greyhound to Sandusky and get there in plenty of time to process in and pass out from exhaustion then wake up and go to Louie's!

Oh, I can't wait for the Greyhound station...and the bus ride. I'll be clinging to my suitcase the entire time and probably pretending talking on my cell..and probably crying. I just have to sit by the person that has the least amount of bodily waste on their clothing and I should be fine. I would try to look more cracked out and unattractive but then I'm afraid I'd be treated worse and handed money in exchange for bathroom encounter offers. I don't think anyone can escape a Greyhound station unscathed. But if anyone has tips on that, let me know.

Thanks for the help!

Both times i processed in i was there between 8 and 8:30 and didnt have to wait in line for anything, but that was also in March so who knows. As for the greyhound thing, i feel sorry for anyone who has do deal with that. I've never had to thank god but i feel for those who do.

The Greyhound route looks good for you. I'll quote from the paper I got with my contract:
"During a significant part of our season, Cedar Point personnel will be at the Greyhound Bus terminal in Sandusky to provide transport to Cedar Point."

Good luck and see ya there!

oh wow, another person who is from california coming yay!!! I am from riverside. I will not be processing in until june 20th, I was actually going to be doing the same thing as getting to cp from the airport. But a friend of mine is in akron is going to take me, so I lucked out. I hope to meet you, are you excited as much as I am?
