Hotel Breakers - Haunted?

I'm not quite sure what forum this would go under, so if it needs to be moved, please feel free too....

Just wondering if anyone that has stayed at Hotel Breakers has had any..... odd occurances.... happen to them while they were staying there.

My wife and I just got back from our annual trip to CP and for the first time, we stayed at Hotel Breakers. We had 2 different things happen to us while we were staying there that we can't explain and we were just wondering if anyone else has had things happen as well.

I've never stayed there, but I know that other people have claimed that they have had odd occurrences too. What exactly happened during your stay?

4 summers of employment in ride operations does stuff to you.

I found this in an old post:

There is the old Hotel Breakers, where seasonal employees are sometimes housed. Go left at the top of the steps on the top floor and walk out to the balcony facing the lake and you'll feel yourself being pulled over--if you're a girl. The story goes that a couple at the hotel knew they were going to be separated and made a suicide pact, then jumped off the balcony here. The guy fell to his death but the woman held onto the railing and pulled herself back up, which is pretty much typical. His ghost tries to pull girls over the edge into eternity with him, so be careful. Another part of the old hotel was the site of a suicide; a girl killed herself in the shower. Residents sometimes hear crying and see their shower turned on and off by itself.

And for that reason, and that reason only, I bring my own, non-haunted, camper to the point. ;)

The haunted carousel legend has always interested me. Are there any former employees on this site that have any first hand stories about it?

When I stayed at Breakers for CoasterMania this year, I was asked by one of the maids if I saw any ghosts. Didn't see any though.

There was a thread that had another story, it had one about Hotel Breakers, the Frontier Town Carosel, and something else I forgot. Pretty interesting if you ask me.

Brian, you cannot come on here and say that "something" happened to you and your wife, and then not tell us what happened. :)

These stories have circulated for years. I've stayed at the Breakers since the early 60's and have never seen or felt anything that I would remotely consider paranormal.

Of course, I would not consider myself a believer in haunted places, and my ability to see ghosts probably directly increases in proportion to how many beers I've had at the bar.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,

Time to call in the Ghost Hunters ;)

I just remembered I have yet another story again happening at CoasterMania, during the morning ERT I went into the restrooms by Skyhawk, when washing my hands the hand dryer kept going on and off, remember I'm the only one in the whole place. Then when I went to use it the thing it wouldn't turn on. I suspected that it could have been due to the humidity that day since it was so high, but I don't know. This could make a great Halloweekends attraction, The curse of the haunted hand dryer. :)

I have always stayed in the older sections of the hotel breakers and have never seen a ghost. But, if i ever do- i will ask them if they like rollercoasters and would they like to ride the dragster? I have a room

reserved in the twin section for halloweekends and i will be on the lookout.

Actually the carousel story apparently has had many variations...one includes maintenance workers swearing they watched the thing turn on by itself and spin backwards, with the music playing backwards as well.

Then there's the guy who created the horses, supposedly the "haunted" carousel horse that used to be on display during Halloweekends housed a human heart, I think it belonged either to him or his true love...this particular horse has a very sinister look to it, seperating it from the otherwise cheerful look of the carousel..

The hotel breakers has been investigated before, I believe...and many, many people have had "experiences" mainly in the older parts of the hotel.

It would be pretty cool to see an episode of Ghost Hunters done on The Breakers. I love those boys. :)

The woodcarver (Paul). He has been at the park for 20some years. I have never asked him about the hauntings. But, he might have some info.

I have heard that the middle horse in the Town Hall is somehow associated with the carasoul (Sp?) story.

Peace, Mikey

This thread goes WAY back, but there were some good stories..especially where Chief Wahoo talks about how the Shining was originally suppose to be filmed at Hotel Breakers.

As for the topic of the thread, I have heard the Mary story many times, by several people since this was posted six years ago:

^ Wow, I remember that thread. I was posting as IVAN. I was 15 then, and now I am 22. I really have grown up on this site. :)

I have spent the night in the haunted part just to see if the rumors were true, and avast! they are!

I heard random noises and this was at 2 in the morning. I went out to the haunted balcony and I felt a force trying to pull me downward.

ask me for my facebook.

Ok, so here's what happened....

One night, after park closing, my wife and I went to the gift shop that is in the back of the main lobby. I was standing in line to pay for our stuff and to my left, about 15 feet away, is a rotating stand which holds several different kinds of plastic mugs. I just happened to turn and look at it when I see a mug come off of the rack and fall to the floor. There was no one at the rack, no kids running around the rack.

Now, the interesting part is that an older lady, a teenager and I all witnessed this. We looked at each other and kind of said, "Did you see that too?" without saying a word to one another. The older lady did say, "Now that was weird..." The teenager then picked up the mug and placed it back on the rotating rack.

I know what you are saying, the mug might have been loose, and it just fell. And that's exactly what the skeptic in me wanted to believe. But the mug simply didn't just fall. It was flipping around like it had been flung off of the rack! If it had simply fallen to the ground, it would have been no big deal, but this mug was spinning and flipping like it had been flung, and not just fallen from the rack....

Incident number 2 happened that same night. It was 2:15 in the morning. I know this because I was having a hard time sleeping. It was very quiet in the hallways. No noise, and our room was directly behind the elevators, so we could hear when people were coming. All of a sudden, there are 5 LOUD bangs on our door. Scared me to DEATH and woke my wife up immediately. I run to the door and look out the peep hole. Nothing. I grab some clothes quick and open the door. Nothing. No one in the halls, no sound of the elevator. The only noise is of the flourescent light right in the hallway in front of our room is now flickering. It wasn't flickering when we got to the room, nor had it at all during our stay. I walk the hallways. Nobody. Not even the sound of a door closing or of a key card beeping in someones door.

Again, the skeptic in me says that some kids were playing a joke, but you would at least HEAR someone in the halls running or closing a door. I heard nothing and I walked the whole area afterwords TRYING to figure our what happened. I can't explain either of these events. Very weird....

What do ya think?

Once Cedar Fair moves all the administrative offices offsite, they will no doubt be looking for a caretaker to tend to the Breakers during the long, cold winter. Any volunteers? (Jack Nicholson need not apply).

^Unfortunately, under the Kinzel rule, the administration is here to stay. Permanently.
