Have You Been On Both TTD & Kingda Ka?

Turbo Jaw= I have rode KK and I had head banging and my shoulders were bruised after riding. My Girlfriend felt none of that. Did you know that some ops do stapple and not even know it. The person could of had one of those ops having a bad day. I noticed when I am in loads 1 or 2 on Dragster I seem to get complaints about the lapbars being to tight on people. It is caused by me using my left hand I dont do it on purpose it just happens. When I am in loads 3 and 4 I dont get the complaints, using my right hand. As for there launch it does go in pulses that is how theres is programed. If I rememeber correctly when TTD first opened ours did it.

I know it pulses. I never said it didn't. I just said it isn't as noticeable. I was just trying to make your points less exaggerated so people don't think even worse of KK for "stealing TTD's idea" or whatever. I do see your point on the roughness though. When you first go in to the 270 degree spiral it is quite a jerk into it.

Im sorry but I just have to get this out. KK does not have a 270° twist......it's almost 270 but it's not.

Ok, I feel better now.:)

The downward spiral actually twists slightly less than 270 degrees, because the second hill is angled back toward the station rather than parallel with the launch track. On the other hand, Top Thrill Dragster's brake run is parallel to its launch track, so it spirals a full 270 degrees on the way down.

TTD's brakerun and launch angle out to the tower as well. This makes the twist slightly more (not less) than 270 since it has to twist a little more inward.

Wikipedia is not very reliable when it comes to exact stats like that.

You can see it here:

Think about how wide the tower is compared to the unload station. *** Edited 11/9/2006 12:11:13 AM UTC by Gomez***

I never said Dragster doesnt do that as well. It's just that, like you said, the angle towards the station makes the twist slightly more (not less) than 270 since it has to twist a little more inward
Heck Marc knows! It's 90.88° and 270.88°.....right?:)

In fact, if you look at the tower from the side just right, you can tell the west side of the tower is farther in than the east side. Though, of course, the difference is very, very small and not very noticable.

Sort of like this pic:

Though that's not the true angle I'm talking about.

A rideop on my last trip said 270.88 degrees when I last rode and I was the only guest in that station who knew right away what he meant.

I never said you didn't know, but the Wikipedia person didn't.

There's only few people who can carry on a conversation about this. I'm proudly one of them. :)

Top thrill dragster is better it gives you more of a smooth ride unlike kingda ka where it rips your head off

270.88???? Who measured and where is it stated as a fact? First of all, if it is angled back toward the station, it would definately be less than 270 degrees. It is a simple geometric fact that 3/4 of a complete rotation is 270 degrees. For it to be angled back, it would be slightly less than 3/4 of a turn which would not be 270.88 degrees.

If I'm not mistaken, the long, "flat" lengths of track (launch & brake runs), are not parallel. Based on that, 270.88 would be realistic.

Brandon

KK was down 2 weeks before testing and was down half way during the summer. The only reason Six Flags built it was because they are hurting for people. I got a feeling it will be the normal Six Flags coaster. SBNO. They are trying to go head to head with Cedar Point like they have tryed to do for years but they finally realised they cant. And they sort of lost the coaster battle when they put Superman up for sell at the Six Flags Magic Mountin park. I know they knew the problems that TTD had its first few years of working. I am glad Cedar Point got a hold of the problems and fixed them to where its only down maybe a few days a year. I never rode KK but i seen pics and i think TTD is better.

^I have to disagree. Six Flags Great Adventure looks to be a nice park. KK was built because the tallest & fastest coaster thing sells big time.

Was it stupid to build the ride knowing the problems, YES; was it built to compete or try to better than Cedar Point, NO.

As of right now, there is only one roller coaster at a Six Flags park that is SBNO. That is Flashback at SFMM, which is going to be dismantled soon.

It was at the time it was built to go head to head with Cedar Point. They been for years trying to go head to head with Cedar Point since they are #1 park every year. Since the Ceo they have now is putting it into the ground they hardly are posting high numbers in the money and people areas. Hense the reason for them selling the parks last year. Why else would you build the tallest and fastest? Me didnt say that SFGA was bad. At the time KK was built they started posting numbers of the people going in and the numbers were down. Pretty soon they will be selling the bigger parks like they did Geauga Lake.

I can't agree and I just don't understand what the point of comparing the two rides are. Both were built for the sake of having the world record and give guess a hell of a thrill.

Dale - have you been paying attention lately? Six Flags WAS tanking, Snyder has been making some good changes and is turning the chain around. There might be one or two more parks up for sale, but I would be surprised to see any of their biggies sold at all.
