I think that the upcharge haunt is an interesting idea.... depending on execution. If you are paying the upcharge for your group to go through essentially alone, without the "conga line" that often happens through haunts, that might be worth extra $10 per person.

I'm infinitely more excited about Eden Musee because it's unique to Cedar Point. For example, after experiencing Corn Stalkers at CP, I felt like I could check it off my list at KI. It's sort of like how I'm dismissing Dinosaurs Alive at CP and other Cedar Fair parks after experiencing it at KI.
But the haunts that share a name are not alike at all. Besides the name the only thing they share is the theme, that is where any similarity ends. Club Blood at Cedar Point is NOTHING like Club Blood at Dorney, same with Corn Stalkers. It would be like comparing Leviathan at CW to an Intiman Hyper named Leviathan at Worlds of Fun.

I feel like Cedar Point already has enough up charge attractions
How many does Cedar Point have? All I can think of is DA.
I personally would not pay for an upcharge haunt, and I know my friends/family wouldn't either.
Unless, of course, they planned on making it "Premium" as Knott's berry farm is doing. I've been to haunted houses that are definitely above the quality of CP's, they did cost around the price that Knott's is planning on charging.
But, I'd really prefer that instead of making some amazing haunted house and charging for it, that they focused on improving the haunts they already have.
^^Besides for DA, none of the Upcharge attractions are in the park. They're all in Challenge Park.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
I suspect part of the reason the maze is an upcharge is because a maze, by design, will have very low capacity.

I would fork over the full 60 for this just to be able to do it alone. I think a big part of the draw is to have the option to do that or at least be part of a very small group as opposed to doing the conga.
From what the article said BGT is doing something similar and has been selling out the last two seasons.
Why leave that money on the table?
Quick question for everyone, we have never gone to Halloweekends and are planning on going this year probably a couple times. My question is are any of the haunts open on the Sunday of opening weekend or is it just the shows and decorations that are up then?
On the Sunday of opening weekend only the indoor houses are open. Outdoor zones do not open on Sundays until Columbus day weekend.
I thought they added the outdoor zones on Sundays of every weekend of Halloweekends last year.

Parking? That's not an attraction, nor is Fast Lane. And you pay for regular parking too, so I guess that's an Upcharge.

Nope, Simply because the park closes early on Sundays and it doesn't get dark till so late. you can scare in daylight, but its always more fun in the dark!

...if they're different experiences, who cares what the names are?
When the names are unique, especially so thoughtful that they throw back to CP history, I guess it's just an instant good first impression for me. It's a feeling like, "This park cares about maintaining its own identity."
Fast forward to the Six Flags scenario. One of the reasons why I've never visited a Six Flags park is because they seem so generic in my mind. I don't feel like taking the time to research that the Batman is sweet at Six Flags X, and the must-ride Superman is at Six Flags Y. In reality, the Six Flags parks are likely just as unique as Cedar Fair parks, but the naming put this generic, forgettable experience in my head.
This is why I'm a little frightened to see CF starting to duplicate things a bit more at its parks, like rebranding all the water parks Soak City. If it's helping the business, then I guess it must be done, but I still won't be happy to see it.
I don't see a problem with putting Windseekers at multiple parks. It's just a thrill ride, like a Screamin Swing or Topple Tower. I don't like duplicate coasters or coasters with the same name. Like all those dumb Vekoma Boomerangs. I'm indifferent about renaming the water parks Soak City, it's a good name I guess.
If the rides or attractions are identical at the various parks, using the same names doesn't bother me. The identical rides (excluding some popular flats / drop towers) are more so what bothers me. lol
If its a ride that is exactly the same like wind seeker go ahead and give it the same name, if they decide to rename Millennium Force and call it Leviathan because its the same type of coaster and they are both blue, not that they ever would, but that I have a problem with. don't give two unique rides the same name.
Haunts are a little different the name reflects the theme more than anything, is the Cornstalkers at KI in a water ride like at CP? do they have all the exact same props? Are they laid out the same? do they have the same people working in both? the answer is no, all those things make the experience what it is. One ride can be exactly the same as another but one haunt will never be the same as another.

So you're a Screamster this year? I'm going to my first Halloweekends this year, I have no clue what to expect.
^You'll love it. I would have suggest Happy Jack's since that was my favorite...but hopefully Eden Musee will be really good. Eerie Estate is another good one. But you can't go wrong with any of them. And I like watching the precession of Screamsters down the midway and the Overlord speech. And to all you Screamsters out there, kudos on even acting your part during this speech and along the midway. It's fun watching people who stand in the middle of the midway get freaked out when Screamsters, walking to the Overlord speech, stare at them and try to get them to move out of the way.

I can appreciate that, though more so when it comes to rides. I dug reusing Shoot the Rapids, even if the ride is literally worse than 10 billion indestructible zombie Hitlers.
