Halloweekends '04

Here's the scoop. Werewolf Canyon will be expanded and you will now exit towards the petting farm.

Toxic Tunnel of Terror will be replaced with The Lair of the Vampire.

CarnEvil will be a new "frightzone" on the Wicked Twister midway and will be themed as an Evil Carnival with Carnies etc.

I also noticed on the sign that on Sunday October 10th, they are staying open until 10pm. Does anyone know the reason for this? I was thinking it will be somewhat of a test to see if they can keep a late crowd on Sundays, maybe in the future? With the Saturdays getting to be horribly busy and the Fridays really picking up last year I think they may be able to pull it off. The only thing I dislike about Halloweekend Sundays is you really can't do all of the Halloween stuff because it just isn't dark long enough. It's just not the same to go into a haunted house in daylight. If all the Halloween attractions were to be open Fri-Sun nights I think it would be great. *** Edited 8/6/2004 3:51:22 AM UTC by Shorty***

I figure the reason they're open later on the 10th is because the 11th is Columbus Day. The park is also open later on Sunday, September 5 - the day before Labor Day.

Is WereWolf Canyon a haunted house and what is it like is there props and real actors inside? And does it take up thunder canyon? But is Pharoas Tomb scary and realy 3-D?
I was wondering why they were building that walkway behind the petting zoo barn (referring to the extended werewolf canyon). I hope they don't just make it a longer version of the same quality though...I felt so bad last year watching all those poor people stand in 1.5 hour long lines just to be horribly dissappointed by it.

The new fright zone will be cool, although it may be a little tougher over there with the beach breeze to keep the smoke from blowing away too quickly, assuming they'll use smoke to the same effect as the original fright zone. *** Edited 8/6/2004 4:43:01 PM UTC by mantis_man***

According to www.aaronradatz.com and www.chrislinn.com , it appears as if Aaron Radatz and Chris Linn will be back this year to perform during Halloweekends!!!
Is anyone else disappointed that the Toxic Tunnel of Terror is being replaced, and the crappy Pharoh's Tomb remains?
I am... Toxic Tunnel of Terror is one of the best Haunted attractions they have there!

Toxic Tunnel was getting very, very old. It was time for something new.

Yeah but that spinning tunnel (vortex? black hole?) made it worthwhile alone. The rest of the haunted house, take it or leave it... Lair of the Vampire sounds pretty wild though, as does CarnEvil. Hopefully that'll play off people's very real fear of clowns.

who is afraid of clowns? I love clowns, the more demented and scary they are, the better they are. I really can't wait to see what they do for the CarnEvil, although nobody else in my group wants to go through it, they've alreday decided that they won't like it, so I'll have to go in by myself.

I was wondering who went several weekends last year? I travel from GA to halloweekends every year for my one trip to the point that year. However the past 2 years I've managed to go on super busy weekends and it really wasn't too enjoyable. I think the second week of october last year. The line for WWC was too long to even attempt to wait in. Anyway is there any weekend that is usually a little less crowded or is it purely weather dependant?

Thanks

It seems like Halloweekends as a whole has been gaining more and more popularity each year, so its getting the a point where a large crowd is guarenteed on Saturdays, while Fridays and Sundays will also have a decent crowd.

As you mentioned, the only thing that really matters is weather, and as cool as this summer's been I suppose this fall could be a little chilly.

I agree mantis_man, the crowds seem to get bigger and bigger every year, even on Sundays, which is when I'm usually there.

A little FYI about Oct 10:

The park is staying open later because of the next day being Columbus Day. Also the resorts will be open for people who want to stay that night.

Snake River Falls and White Water Landing are usually open. And yes, I've seen people riding SRF in September and October. It's pretty funny. Disaster Transport's cue opens at the 'repair bay'. There is a emergency exit that they let people in at, sealing off Pharose Toumb<sp?> completly from the ride.

I'm still trying to con the family into going to the park when we buy our season passes for '05. I don't know why they don't want to go. Oh well, I hope to meet a lot of the people from here in '05.

CarnEvil is recommended for adults only...Does that mean no one under 18 is allowed?
I think it means mature audiences. Like how the main Fright Zone is not recommended for children. I think you can still go if you’re under 18. Do you think they will close rides over there or you'll just have to walk through it? *** Edited 8/19/2004 12:46:43 AM UTC by crashoverride***

That's a very good question I wondered the same thing. I halfway think they might make like back walkways with just like a ply-wood wall seperating the CarnEvil from entrances to lines. But I don't know we'll see.
I never really found any of CP's haunted houses to be exceptionally scary. I did however, love that spinning tunnel on TToT. That alone was worth waiting in line and enduring the rest of the attraction. Whoever is in charge of creating these things hopefully "got a whiff" of the kick butt haunted houses at PKI. Out of the 3 I went to at that park, I liked 2 of them really well. (I can't remember their names for the life of me)
