Halloweekends '04

I dont know if you've been to the park recently, but just like every year recently, the halloweekends items are beggining to show up in the park. This year, the signs show that there are two new haunted houses (replacing the old ones?) "CarnEVIL" and "The lair of the vampire". Werewolf canyon will be back along with fright zone of course. Maybe this week i'll take pictures and post them.

That sounds cool, Where did you see these new haunted houses? I am going saturday i'll have to keep and eye out.
I didnt see the haunted houses, but there are those signs (one is by the happy friar in front of raptor, and the other is in the back by White water landing) and there are advertisements for it there.

It also said that Werewolf Canyon would be expanded as well. They must be getting more Christmas trees for it. ;)

Christmas in October! Can't wait.
It also states that there will be three haunted houses, so two of the old ones sound like they are biting the dust.

I also hope the CarnEvil one is like the clown themed 3-D haunted house at Kennywood from last year. Great stuff!

On Saturdays and Sundays, all rides are open. Fridays have a limited number of rides running.

Werewolf Canyon is one of the haunted attractions. It is located in the trough of Thunder Canyon. The trough is adorned with pine trees decorated with lights, supposedly creating a forest-like atmosphere, but Cedar Point missed the mark once again. It feels more like you're shopping for a Christmas tree to take home. (Although, it has been expanded this year, so we'll see how it looks this time around.)

The haunted houses are mildly scary. If you are easily scared, they may be slightly frightening. If you do not scare easily, you won't be frightened, however you may enjoy the props and scenery. They have been fun to go through in the past.

I would like to know which two houses got the ax this year. If they were counting my vote, Pharoah's Tomb and the mortuary school would be out.

Is Disaster Transport open? It looked as though Pharoahs Tomb replaces DT, or do you go through PT to get on DT?

Also, are any water rides open (although you'd have to be insane to get on SRF in October)

Thanks

John

Honestly, I can't remember how long they keep the water rides open. I'd be willing to guess they are open right up to the time before Bonus weekends.

Disaster Transport remains open. The normally fenced-in side entrance is opened, allowing Disaster Transport riders to bypass the haunted house and enter the station as normal.

All right. I've just got to ask the inevitable question. Is the park generally crowded during Halloweekends? (It doesn't really say in the FAQ section and the hours for those days are kind of unusual.)

FrontierDale,

I was there last October to "enjoy" the busiest day that Cedar Point has had in YEARS. It was sunny and 75 degrees on a mid October day. The park got slammed.

This year, we are skipping HW and trying to "play the crowds" the weekend before HW starts. It's after Labor Day, the kiddies are in school, and the bonus of HW isn't happening yet.

Now if I can arrange for a forecast of rain and then not have it happen...

MrScott

Mayor, Lighthouse Point

Sundays + Halloweekends = Very few people

(Generally.)

is WereWolf Canyon a ride or walk through attraction and what is it like and also do they Decorate ythe rides for Halloweekends and what is the best Haunted House there?

You walk through Werewolf Canyon. The entire park is decked out for Halloween. I, personally, love going to Cedar Point during Halloweekends more than any other time.

As for the best haunted house, you'll have to wait and see for yourself.

There will be one new haunted house - Lair of the Vampire. CarnEvil is a new fright zone. The original Fright Zone is also being expanded.

Now that just leaves me with a bunch of questions.

Does that mean there will be a fourth haunted house? If not, which house is getting replaced? Or is the new haunted house being built at an all new location? Where's the new fright zone going to be?

As before Pharoahs Tomb replaces most of the walk-thru portion of the DT queue, however DT will remain open, will have a much abbreviated queue and the entrance moves down closer to the exit of the ride.

The new Halloweekends additions sound intriguing.

I know the new CarnEvil Fright Zone is going to be on the Wicked Twister midway. As for the other haunted houses, I have no clue.
As far as I remember, water rides are open until closing day of last year, and I remember riding WWL most of October!

Well, Thunder Canyon isn't open. It is turned into a walk through for Halloweekends. WWL & Snake are opened up, but sometimes Snake River will shut down if the weather is crappy and the ridership is low.
