Good Buy Day 2016

Good Buy Day this year is on Sunday, October 30th. Doesn't look like there's any specifics as to what will be on sale like past years.

Last weekend they were doing a very good job of being low/ out of stock of perishable items and explaining as there was only one more weekend left to customers. They were offering different side options or drinks if they were out of something at food stands.

Even at Surf Lounge they were doing this with non-perishable and perishable alike. I think they must've gotten someone new or better trained F&B manager about better inventory management, as it seems it was much better handled this year then in the past.

This maybe why they haven't posted what is available. (that or they realized a crappy frozen hot dog will taste exactly the same when they thaw it out next May ;-) )

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

We're planning on going, so it will be interesting to see what's available. We haven't been to closing day since 2011.

We are going on Sunday as well, I was wondering if they would be out of a lot of things. Since we are getting free all day dining both Saturday and Sunday I really hope I'm not stuck with hot dogs all weekend, but I won't complain since we are comped any way.

Unfortunately, this lack of advertising didn't entice me enough to come out today. Not letting guests know what will specifically be on sale like past years kind of ruins it in my opinion.

Getting in your last rides for the season isn't a good enough reason to go out there today? I'm not out there today, but for other reasons. If I had planned, the lack of advertising wouldn't keep me away.

Last year you didn't have to pay for the last rides, you just reserved as a pass holder. This year you have to pay to be one of them. Another reason why I'm disappointed in this years good buy day.

I'm not a typical complainer or Debbie Downer by any means, but comparatively, it's just a total let down.

I'm at the park now and very disappointed. The only deal I've seen is $7 souvenirs cups. Nothing else. Many rides are inexplicably closed and those that are open are reduced capacity (only 1 train for magnum earlier, now 2. One for corkscrew. Two for MF. Dragster trains are not even on the track.

Not a good end to the season especially since we did not renew passes for the first time in probably 10 years.

The reduced trains could be due to the damp weather today.

It hasn't rained since noon.

I think staffing is also a major issue in October. Even on the busy Saturdays only red side of Gemini was running, and two trains on Magnum the past few Saturdays I was at the park, and the line was over 45 minutes.

I guessed that and find it to be an unacceptable excuse. Perhaps they need to pay more to attract those workers willing to stay later in the season? But to produce a very sub-par experience is not OK in my view, especially when ticket prices, food, etc all remain the same.

Don't even get me started on the food lines Saturday. Thank God I don't eat that crap but if I did, I'd be furious.

Forgot to mention.... the winds now are absolutely within tolerance for rides (i.e. TTD) that aren't even making an attempt to open. Unacceptable.

If you don't eat "that crap", why would it matter to you if the food prices are the same?

On the last day of the operating season, I'm not surprised that operations are minimized.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Here's a possibility for you: Dragster had a mechanical issue and they deemed that it was too expensive to fix for one day. Magnum has a past of issues of crashing on damp days, and Millennium was running 3 trains, so I dont know where you're going there.

In other news, they were running Millennium in torrential downpours today and was one of the best rides I've gotten on it.

Also, a ride op stopped the Eagles after about 4 spins because of snapping. Apparently you can't snap them now even though I've been doing it all season, and there's no signage telling you it is prohibited.

Edit: MaverickLaunch, there's a reason you made over 600 posts and only have 50 up votes. Every post I've seen you make is a complaint.

I retract my earlier statement about the wind. It's stronger than I thought as I stand in the station for GK. None of that excuses a widespread crappy experience overall, but I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong.

It's so bad that even wicked twister is only running one train!!

Winds are uncharacteristicly coming out of the east which is unusual and why I didn't feel it earlier.

Still no food deals, anywhere.

Tomorrow I'll be posting my 360 fly around of TRFKA mean streak.

I noticed too with lack of Food Stands they had Food Trucks to offset not having to staff all food locations like last year. They had volunteers running food stands last year! Saving them money so they could run out of perishables!

It was a disaster all around. With the margins they run (and I love as a unit holder) it led to a crappy closing day experience overall. The food trucks were awesome!!! As a BBQ competitor I especially respected the amount of work it must have taken the BBQ near skeleton crew to do what they did. Amazing. Dude must not have slept since August.
