I was looking for one all day, even toward closing when I knew that they were all taken. Congrats to all of you who got one. I was fortunate enough to get the 4th to last train. I managed to stay to see the last riders, which got on around 930ish.
Terror Island Screamster 08', 09', 10', 11'
^^^ I saw a guy in a Maverick first rider tee shirt and fleece with one and a big smile on his face. I wondered who he stalked.
Then I saw Tony Clark later in the day and shook his hand complementing him on a nice season. I almost jokingly asked if the Maverick nuts were waiting outside his office door, his parking space or his house ; )
I met a nice gentleman at the end of the night in line who flies for FedEx and travels all over the place and has Tribe, Browns and OSU season tickets. So we had something to talk about. We stayed in line together skipping the single rider line so he asked if we could ride the front row (which is hard to do as a single rider). They said yes. So it was nice way to end the season. Last year I got a rollback on TTD.
We got off of Mav after the park had officially closed. I saw the Willie Wonka winners : ) waiting by the entrance. And the GP line was still outside on the wooden ramp. So they had to wait a while. None for me thanks. I saw Mr. Hildebrandt in the control booth preparing for the big event.
Sidenote I liked ride op Jenny's Maverick carving in a pumpkin they had in the station. Nice HalloWeeknds touch. She was one of the better ride ops/spielers this season. So I don't know if she got to spiel the big event or if Tony did.

I kept my eye out but saw none. Around 7 on our way to TTD I saw John Hildebrandt and Tony heading toward the front of the park but neither had any golden tickets.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

We looked for it most of the day no luck. I saw 2 people with golden tickets one said Tyler had it on and he found it around 330 the other kid said he found it by the offices around the arcade. We got off of Maverick close to 9 pm and I saw them waiting to ride but there were still quite a few people left in line I wonder how late they were there.
That would be me.
I was just walking down the midway going towards Demon Drop and my niece said to me, "well I think all the golden tickets have been found." I told her she was probably right. Then no more that 5 minutes later I spotted Tyler about 50 feet down the midway from us, then I looked really close and there it was... The Golgen Ticket around his neck. So I RAN to him, leaving my family wondering why I ran away from them so fast. Then Tyler at me and waited for me to ask the question. And I nailed it. Then he gave me the ticket and I got a picture with him and my guest rider. My niece.
The old west was never that wild. I had the last ride on Maverick!!!
Got it. Thanks for clearing that up, Raptorqueen. Man too bad, I'm not coming that day.

Hahaha that guy with the Lime Green single rider shirt. I always see him in the morning always first at the gate. I remember him opening day this year. We owned him in the sprint and got first train on MF of the season. Then I saw him closing weekend on Friday in the morning. We were sprinting faster them him blowing him away on MF. Then I saw him again on WT. I beat him 2 times in a row but didn't go back on WT again so I let him go in front of me. Lets just say he was happy after he was screaming at his friend "BEAT HIM YOU CANT LOSE" I mean come on nobody was even on the ride it was a walk on the whole time. Me and the 2 people I was with wasn't going to change anything.

No, but when I read the blog, I couldn't help but think they have a big Snoopy at the front gate with a sign that says "Sorry, we're closed." Ya know, ala National Lampoon's Vacation? LOL!
Did anybody else find the wording "release the hounds", in the OnPoint blog, curious as a reference to what's new 2008 ?? I know T&T can be cryptic at times.... just asking
^^^ I totally agree. I wonder what, if anything, it means. In some of their previous blog entries there were some things like "we're not ready to let the kittens out of the bag." with the kittens reference or "we've been busy as beavers preparing for the 2008 season." with that beaver reference.

John Hildebrandt said he had a 10 year old kid waiting for him at his parking space when he pulled in.People are ridiculous.
I wonder if he called security since those parking spots are in an employee area? Granted they are not fenced in from the Hotel Breakers side. But a great idea since i'm sure he had one of them or knew who did!

How dare you beat Bob only I can do that, and when he lets me. Don't you know Bob has more rides on Millenium than you will ever get. He probably has more rides this year than you have had in your lifetime.

^ Oh. That's ummm.. great.
Yeah, I like roller coasters and all, but I've never been in to the whole "number of rides" pee pee waving contests. I just don't get it.
I mean, 1 time or 100 times, we've still been on the same ride, and we both probably enjoy it. Candidly, I think that after so many cycles, even the world's best rides can get mundane and predictable.

I rode MF closing weekend with Single Rider number 3. He's a nice guy who was fun and not aggressive running over people. But number 2 almost ran over number 1 down the MF exit ramp. I was hoping the older number 1 wouldn't have a heart attack : ) But he seems to be in good shape. I rode a JC Homecoming weekends Mav ride with number 1. I don't care for number 1 or 2's over-aggressiveness pushing their way thru like it's life or death getting on rides. It's kind of funny and kind of annoying at the same time.
I don't know his name but I've spoken with the Maverick rider who had more than 400 rides. I see he's in the winner photos in the blue and red jacket but it looks like he got on as a friend of someone on the next to last train. I'm glad he got on. He's a nice guy to talk to in line.
I have a short video clip of his ride count clicker in the Mav queue as part of ride op extrodinaire Jenny's Maverick station pumkpin footage (there's another thread about carving logos into pumpkins so it may show up there too). It was all shot during the same ride so I kept in one video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18sj4O_BwCk
I'd normally think the clicker thing is overkill but he's a fun guy so I think it's fun to ask him how many circuits when I see him from time-to-time.
I like keeping track of rides but to tell you the truth I have to go back and look it up since I ride just about all of them. Whereas he only rides Mav (400+), Magnum (2,900+ rides) and MF (500+ rides) so it's easier to remember.
I can see it the other way too. Why keep track. But well what the heck why not. Something to do if you ride enough times. I like the people who have fun with it and don't consider it a contest.

I ended Maverick with 138 rides and was a first rider and a golden ticket last rider. My seat # was 5a on the last train, copper. I am also apart of the 2008 Maverick Crew.
Maverick Crew 08 and 09.
Is that bad that I still practically remember the quote verbatim yet I didn't even have a chance of going closing weekend '07? :)
