Hey,
One Summer, my brother and I rode Gemini about 30 or so times at CP over 2 days (while riding other things as well). This year we plan to make an exclusive trip early in the year to ride Gemini as many times as possible in one whole day. Does anyone know if 100 rides is possible in one day?
I'd like to get from 50 to 100 rides on it since it has always been one of my favs, and the line "usually" moves quickly.

Question: How do you explain the actions of millions of people who wait hours upon hours to be dropped down a hill???
Answer: You don't...
I wouldn't know firsthand, but a quick piece of advice would be not to go too early in the season, because all 6 trains might not be running which would make the lines longer. I know that Gemini has to wait to have a certain number of people for the weight too, so if the lines are extremely short that could affect your goal too. Have fun! *Grin*

Figure 6 to 7 rides an hr on "dead" day during the early season during the week and its still gonna be hard!! I'd say you get between 70 to 80 tops on a 10am to 10pm day 12 hrs day. This is with or without the use of the 6 trains..that doesn't matter too much...

At Coastermania last year, I ride never got over 10 minutes. Ususally around 5 minutes, actually.
the ride itself is 2.5 minutes right there...by the time you load and unload, enter and exit the queue and reload again..I guarantee you its 10 minutes per ride minimum..no way your doing rides at 5 minute intervals between....Like I said..6 to 7 tops per hour...

Your best bet would be to start early in the morning, even when we only have one side running. The line is so short we often have to let people ride again in order to keep the train full. Even when the line gets longer, it's still pretty much a walk-on until 11:30 or so. Then come back later in the evening. We have many riders that just get off, run around, and get right back on again. And definitely come in the middle of the week when the park is less crowded. Even when we run 6 trains, the crowd is so much bigger that it doesn't make up for much time-wise. I support you in your quest. Let me know when you get there and I'll see if I can help you out a bit! :)

Okay...I KNOW we had to be pushing under 10 minutes to ride, and get back on. My brother and I are young, in shape and fast. The year we tested this idea, we would ride the middle (no line and straightest jump to the exit steps), jump out and run through the exit and back on. we were REALLY hyper that year I think. But I know we got more than 7 rides an in an hour. But last year we didn't do it because it seemed like they were screwing everything up in the line.
Both times I went to CP (I live 4 hours away so I don't visit a whole lot a year) we saw that they closed the line toward the front, which really locked up the line to the back. And since a lot of people would want to ride in the back, that congested the station and stopped people from getting to the front. Eventually, station workers were saying you had to move to the front even if you didn't want to, which I never want to. I thought that line to the front was to eliminate that kind of problem.
Also, they seem to lock the last two cars off a lot when it's slow. If they need a weight limit, why do they do that? Last year, the line was so long I hardly wanted to ride it. and it was mainly because of those reasons. I loved it so much before because it was a great coaster and a walk-on.
So, I can only do this thing if
a.) 6 trains are out there.
b.) they are racing on both sides to keep the line moving
c.) They don't lock up the last two cars to make the lines even longer and
d.) people smack hands around the turns...It seemed last year that they didn't race a lot when I was there, and when they did, people weren't being very friendly :)...
That's a long post, sorry!!
And thanks Gemini Princess...maybe I can arrange my trip there when you're working so you can hook us up on our "quest" and keep those wheels red hot.

Question: How do you explain the actions of millions of people who wait hours upon hours to be dropped down a hill???
Answer: Ask someone else...I'm in line for the Gemini, baby!!
My record for one day on the Gemini was 39, most later of it later in the day. It took about 5 hours of almost nonstop power riding from about 5 to near close to even accomplish this. At the Very least, from the time when you depart, the train, queue, and get on the train again will take 4-5 minutes You can sit in the train for up to 4 minutes so at the very least it will take 8 minutes for one ride, which comes out to about 7 rides and hour like Jeffrey Spartan said.
Other things that will factor in are weather, and down time. Time lost due to The crew will never a factor because they are always great, and also it looks like you might get some help in that department :) . Ride on the Red side, because that it usually less crowded and it's quicker to reride
I have also considerd just riding the Gemini all day, but never thought of attaining the goal. I love the idea :). The Gemini is my first, and favorite coaster. One day I will get 40 laps in to add to my masive total.

Hey Joe, sounds like you should join us in our journey. We could always use some new company on our laps. I have to go out and buy one of those ticker things to keep track of my rides...

Welp, I guess we's jus' gonna have ta prove ya wrong. If we can get Gemini Princess (I hope to get your name later) to help us out, like yanno, let us ride on a few times in a row, and it's a lite day with no break downs, I think we can get 100 laps! I'll need to plan this out a little more, yanno, to tap in bathroom breaks and a hot dog or something, but I think we could do it, and still have time to get an MF ride in! Okay...maybe that's pushing it. 2 MF rides... :)
GP...The groupies are here to worship you...*bow*

With the bathroom right there, and I think I can go a day with just eating French fries It's going to make it easier too.
I suggest a day, like Tuesday or Wednesday in Mid to early June when the park is open till 10. If CP didn't mess up and used a near identical schedule as last year, the last week of May (when it was open until 10) would be a good choice. I am out of school the Second Sunday of operation (my calendar evolves around CP) so whatever day you want, I should be good. It should also be a day that Gemini Princess works. It would feel like meeting a celebrity if I got to meet the TL of my favorite ride :) :).
We should do some planing closer to the event. I think with a little luck, and a lot of running, WE CAN DO IT! Even if we don't hit 100, it will be well worth it.

This brings back memories of the days when my brother, sister, and I used to spend the last hour of the day running on and off Gemini as many times as we could. We would always get a lot of laps and the atmosphere was amazing. Now my last ride of the night is usually Magnum. Because it's a fun night ride and very convenient to the Camper Village exit.
I love Magnum and the other newer coasters, but I do miss the days when Gemini was king.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
Well, I'll be there 6 days a week to help you out! I'll even incorporate your quest into my spiels all day long if you like. We'll make you guys Gemini Celebrities and all the other guests will know just how dedicated you are. Perhaps a running total of your laps for the day? I can't wait-it will be a hoot!

I hope you achieve this because I think that will be fun!! Like most people said, walk-ons in the morning and there are walk-ons at night too! I got 5 walk-ons on gemini and I had to wait for magnum the 2 times I rode them both at night and I think that was about 2 hours--most of the waiting was for magnum so I don't know how long it took to ride gemini those 5 times at night.
WELL HAVE FUN!!
