Gemini 100 this year??

You want a challenge?  Mantis... with one giant beer from the Red Garter every hour.

This old lady can't even ride witches wheel once without getting dizzy anymore.  And I used toLOVE that ride.  Too bad CP wouldn't give us a coaster for a day.

DD would rule, as would Mantis.
I'm in for the "DBCahill Mantis Marathon":)
See Jeff: That's what *I'm* talking about. Though I personally wouldnt find that too hard as I could just about sleep on an Enterprise. Now if you changed that to the Monster instead..."Clean up, in aisle 6!"

Yeah I could easily see a bunch of people doing the Woodstock 250(insert sarcastic laugh here)

When it's all said and done it's real and it's been fun but was it all real fun?

I think either Iron Dragon, Demon Drop, or Power Tower would rock.  But Jeff's idea about the Witches Wheel would be awesome too!  I'd love to do it this year since I missed it last year.  The only thing that sucks is I can't ride matis or raptor since the new rules were enforced.

Just wanna add. I think for Power Tower it should be 50 up and 50 down! :)

I loved the idea of the Gemini 100 the first time I heard about it.  My friend and I are going to try a Gemini marathon in the spring, don't know if we could do 100 though.  I'm totaly up for a group marathon on any ride.

"Mean Streak would be better if they replaced the square wheels with round ones."
Power Tower would be fun, but I would say a fun one would be on the Dodgems or perhaps a day when we try to ride all the rides at Cedar Point. For a coaster, Mine Ride would be really fun(and it would be a challenge if they aren't running two or three trains...). Mine Ride is 100x more fun when there is a group of enthusiasts on it...

I know many of you think that it would be cool to do the [insert ride name here] 150-200, but you have to be realistic. There are many things that come into play while marathoning. I have marathoned before, but not to the extent of the Gemini 100 group. So I'll just give some general info that some of the would-be participants should think about.

1. The hours of the park are important. If it's only open for 8 hours, you'll have less of a chance of achieving your goal than if it's open for 10 hours.

2. Predict the numbers of the crowd the day of the event. Going on a Tuesday or Thursday late in May, or early June would be the best bet.

3. How brutal the ride is to your body. After a few dozen rides on Mean Streak or Mantis, you'll be begging for some pain killers. This is one reason why the group chose Gemini last year.

4. Capacity: This definitely came into play last year in the planning phase. There was a fairly big group, and there's no way they could have made 100 if there was only one train instead of two.

5. Know the limits of your own body. You can have the most mind power in all the world, but if your legs aren't in tip-top shape, there's just no way you'll be able to marathon Mantis for too long. From running out of the station, down the stairs, around the queue, (if the entrance wasn't moved, then marathoning on Mantis would be out of the question) up the stairs, and boarding a ride that you STAND UP on with the G's pushing you through the floor, it will definitely take it's toll. I would predict some people collapsing because of fatigued legs.

6. Don't do it if you have to go to work the next day, or have a long drive home. You'll be extremely exhausted after the event, and I'm sure your blisters will have blisters at the end of the day. Having to drive home a few hours after marathoning can be dangerous. So I suggest power-napping before you drive home, or get a hotel if you have a long drive ahead of you.

These are just a few of the things a participant has to think about when marathoning to the extent of 80-100 in a day.

I hate to say this but I agree with Andrew.  Power Tower is perfect.  I say we do the Power Tower 60!

I am so in! I could ride that ride non-stop! Easy on, easy off!

So thats like 30 up's and 30 downs!

What about White Water Landing? Fast moving lines, interactive, beats the heat....what else do you need?

White Water Landing can take up to 20 minutes on hot day, and man if your going that way, you mine as well do MF 30 in May and get the same amount of waiting time:)

I think Corkscrew is a good idea. Enterence and Exit are close not long lines and a short on-ride time. Although I'm not crazy about the ride I think it would be fun.

DT marathon is not very possible. Especially with Wicked Twister the lines are going to be huge. 12 hours 30 laps you do that math.

beav, last year, a small GTTP group attemped a DT 80, but DT had too long of lines for them to get more than 30 I think.  At least they were proud of it!
Dan can vouch that a Magnum 100 is out of the question - not only would 100 rides be VERY hard to achieve, but even if you are young and in good shape, it would be very hard to last - much harder than Gemini.
If we couldn't find a good coaster to do it on, why not Power Tower?  Although it might get a little boring eventually, and I guess it's hard to interact on...
Hmmm - what about Blue Streak?  Not too fast but still exciting, short lines, and a close entrance/exit.

I dono, on the second to last weekend of halloweekends i did my own little marathon on DT and believe it or not i got 45 trips around on it. I was there the whole (can't remember the times theyy were open) but i had fun, so did the ride ops, they were lovin' it, (even got to sneak back through the door in "Alaska" back to the platform a couple times, well.. not really sneak I asked and they let me. it was a great time though!)
Great Fun on DT!

Whatever ride is decided , I personally think early-mid June would be a good time to hold such a event. Even perhaps on a Sunday in June(generally speaking, Sundays in June are pretty much empty.

I suggested/liked the Power Tower idea because it has close entrance/exit, it doesn't take as much out of you as some of the bigger rides, and it a short(and sweet) ride(thus more rides on it).

I think that the Blue Streak would work on the perfect day.  It is very possible to get 100 on that.

60 Power Tower Shots, up or down?  I'm game for 60 on that.  The White Water Landing would be great too.  I doubt that we could get 100 but close to it the line is pretty slow in the morning and at night.

What ever it is, I am there! I will put in my vote for the Power Tower marathon because of its "interactivity" with everyone else...on the ride and in the lines, but I am game for anything.
