Geauga Lake web site?

Hey, no need to be grumpy, but if I were cedar fair, I would demand that six flags release the site. No the new site would not have to be up, but the old one sure as hell could be taken down. Even a simple this site is under construction would do. I'm sure cedar fair's web developers will have the site up within a couple days after April.

I'm pretty sure the only people hitting the www.geaugalake.com site right now are coaster enthusiasses that know what they are and aren't looking for. I'm pretty sure the webmasters aren't worried.

Cedar Fair already owns the domain name, that's why I posted the WHOIS record. Even though CF owns it, they're pointing it at the Six Flags site until the deal closes, which we assume is some time in the next week or so.

What time does the water show start?

Speaking of the deal, does any body "in the know" know if it'll actually close tomorrow? Just curious, I had heard it might be pushed back to mid April now.

It'll be up tomorrow
Well, it could happen, but I am not Someone In the Know(tm).

CF is hard at work at the park though, that is obvious. I think the deal will close pretty soon (within the next two weeks).

Today I tried going onto www.geaugalake.com and it was blocked for porn
Peppermint, go to the first page in the thread, and read the posts. That will tell you why it was probably blocked for porn. To state it briefly, there used to be porn at that URL, as Six Flags didn't keep it, and a porn company bought it.

EDIT for typo

Sorry about the double post, but it might be better to post this seperately.

I spoke with someone In the Know(tm) on the phone today, and they said the acquisision (spelling?) wasn't done yet.

So just hold on, and if we are lucky, the deal will be done by opening day, with a new website probably coming closer to then.

I called the SFWoA/GL number today, and the recording said to check back after April 5th for more info and so on.
Ah I would love to know what is going on. I guess we're just going to have to wait another half of a week. In a month the gates to my homepark are opening. I don't know what it's called or the name of the coaster I'll be running to.

Who has to be "in the know" about it? If there's no press release, the acquisition isn't complete!

Jeff, meet the wall. You'd stand a better chance of convincing it that there is no conspiracy.

Personally, I've given up arguing with people abotu it. Let them think that there is some mass conspiracy to keep them out of the loop.

I am not saying there is a mass conspiracy. I was just stating the obvious, that being the aquisition is not complete. I needed to call the park (Cedar Point) because of a project my friend is doing involving the acquisition, and the person I spoke to to, who probably knew about the aquisition fairly early on, said it was not complete.

When the acquisition will be completed didn't even really come up in the conversation, if I remember correctly. Basically, I was told they were busy with, and it hadn't closed yet.

I'm not going to say who I talked to, as I don't want that person's office to be baraged with calls about when the Is will be dotted and the Ts crossed. They will when they will.

Can't recognize a poor attempt at a not too serious post?

I've notived a lot people use "In the Know" here. I know one thing for sure, I'm "in the know" about how I am not in the know. :) Anyways, eventhough i still look at GL.com everyday, I wouldn't care if they closed the deal on May 3rd, or June 1st. I feel very confident that it will happen when it is convenient for both companies.

I'm not completely sure, but it looks like they have changed the DNS, as it now redirects to sixflags.com, where it used to just point to the SF website, but with the GL domain name.

I am not sure if I made any sense, but I am a political science major, and not sure if I have the right terms, or even know them.

In other words, you go to www.geaugalake.com and a page comes up that immediately redirects you to sixflags.com? Possible, but if true they just did it...on my ISP it still just resolves to sixflags.com's server. Let me check something...

Yeah, from here they both resolve to 216.65.207.50, which is www.sixflags.com and is in an SBC address range. But through an online service, geaugalake.com resolves to 63.151.41.219, and shows that it is owned by Cedar Fair (and is in a Qwest IP range) Then things get interesting. If I enter "http://63.151.41.219" into Safari, the address bar immediately changes to "http://www.sixflags.com". On the other hand, if I enter "http://216.65.207.50" into the address bar, nothing changes up there, but the Six Flags page loads.

Interesting. Pity samspade.org is partially broken right now... :)

Sorry to go off topic here, but Safari is a great browser. That is what I use to view this site, except for when I am at work. :)

Anyway, since OS X has a nifty termial with a Unix comand line, is nslookup the command the one that finds all this information about where an address resolves to?
