gay at cp?

this maybe a stupid question..... but, im used to working at walt disney world where 99.9% of cast members are gay, so what is it like at cp? im 18 and gay, adn i hate being around people who dont except it and make me feel uncomfortable. i deal with that at home andi was just wondering how much im going to have to deal with it here. ill be working as a server at the fridays on the beach. and what are rotunda rooms? i hear people talking about them. do workers at fridays still live in regular cp housing, or is there a place by breakers that we stay, i know, stupid wuestion, but im just curious. if u wanna email me my email addy........ aberkrombieboi@hotmail.com

You'll be fine, there are people from all walks of life at Cedar Point. Sexual orientation is included in Cedar Point's harrassment policy. Rotunda housing is like an old rustic hotel, I would recommend you live in Common's. You'll be a lot happier.

Yeah, I wouldn't sweat it any. Most people there are really accepting of all types of life. You will meet so many wonderful people from all over the world and you'll have fun doing it. As for rooms, I don't know if regular employees can stay in the rotunda rooms.

The rotunda rooms are for employee's that work in accomadtions and they are also offered to employees that work at Friday's as well. The rooms are old hotel rooms that are no longer used for guests because of there worn out shape, but they're not all that bad if you like living in a old historic hotel which I thought was neat.

The good thing if you work in the hotel and live there is you don't have to rush around to get ready in the morning, you're close to wardrobe, the cafe, and an employee entance, not to mention the beach.

The bad part about living there is you have to park in soak city, and during the peak of the season the guard at the hotel gate (usually the old one) won't let you by to drop off or pick anything up, such as laundry and groceries.

(Please excuse any spelling errors, I typed this at 3am and my eyes were tired.)

i strongly reccomend that you live in cedars b/c there are a lot of gay guys that live there and you'd be a whole lot more comfortable there instead of commons b/c folks can be not only mean but ignorant and unless you're a strong person it's gonna hurt to walk outside and hear fagot this...or gay this...it's not cool....so like i said, you should look into cedars.....

Thanks genevieve...I lived in Cedars my first summer (2001), but I just didn't like it. I'm a strong person. Most of my best friends lived in commons anyways. But it's something you have to decide for youself.

I don't see a need to move into Cedars. All of the employees know that many of the guys are gay, so what? The people that make fun of/harass people are the minority themselves. I'm not gay, so I don't know what it's like for them to walk around, but I never heard of, or witnessed any problems with it. Bottom line, don't change your life, or living arrangements over a few morons.

anywho... blah blah. CP ppl are generally a friendly bunch...and the bums get fired their first month anyways...so whatever. Last year I had no problem whatsoever at commons. And the only 'gay' incident all year was while i was walking into cedars to cash my check, someone commented "dont go in there, its the gay dorm" I said "excuse me. i'm gay" and he appologized.

People need to chill *genevieve* If you dont mess with people, they wont mess with you. And if someone calls you a fag or whatever, put them in their place. If they say it again... well we all took that online training ;)

You're not helping though GMM, therein lies the issue. There's no reason to recommend Cedars to all the gay guys and commons to the straight guys or whatever. You can live wherever you want to WITHOUT having to worry about the kind of prejudice you were talking about, and I genuinely hope noone is buying into the idea that Cedars is seen as the gay dorm complete with power showers. This is simply false and only misinformed folks will say this, so when you hear it disregard it..

Well, Cedars is seen as the gay dorm whether it is true or not. It has had that perception for longer than most of you have been alive and it will continue to have that perception until the day it is torn down.

As for WDW having staff that is 99.9% gay, you are on crack. Those who are gay are comfortable with it and it is a working environment where people feel safe to be "out" but you are exaggerating just a wee bit.

One more thing about the Rotunda rooms. They are a far cry from "old hotel rooms". They are what the hotel originally looked like when there were only communal bathrooms. Rotunda residents share bathrooms that are in the vicinity but not in their rooms. No air conditioning (which can get rough when you are on the top of five stories) and they are very strict about parties/noise seeing as people who paid over $200/night are either next door, down the hall, or beneath you.

I do not practice an alternative lifestyle however I am happy to hear that CP has anit harrasment policies in place. I imagine that a few obnoxious homo-phobs are going to show up at first aid with mysterious broken noses and jaws. Just because a man is "gay" dont make him a sissy! And I pray to god that they stand up to the fascists!

Personally, I love Genevieve. She was always such a bright face to see in the morning at the gate (whether or not she wanted to be there). And she was so friendly (to me anyways), so I don't think she is trying to bash any gay people. She was just making a comment. No sense in getting all up in arms about anything.

Lemme just say that I heard from 5 or 6 different friends of mine that participated in happenings at Cedars so they are totally not false. Hell I even saw some of the bathrooms there and the shower curtains have holes ripped in them at the waist line. LOL More power to ya guys for it anyways! Trust me if I was like that at all Id be right there with ya!

Yeah yeah yeah I heard this and someone else heard this so it's true.... mmmmmk. And Magnum is sinking and Wicked Twister is being taken down and the Millenium force can do 110, too.

Anything that happens at Cedars probably happens with the same frequency at Commons. I've never seen holes at the wasteline at the showers, I lived there last year (came into the season late in June) and had ZERO problems and saw nothing like the rumors you hear. (I'm straight)

The whole point isn't to bash Genevieve or whatnot, it's to not scare newcomers who are probably reading these message boards and are now getting false, bad impressions that are being supported by folks who've "heard" about it. Let's not spread bull**** rumors, especially coming from folks who haven't even lived there. Consider the newbies reading this and are now gonna be (unwarrantedly) scared if they have to live in Cedars.
