GateKeeper plaza and new main entrance

A lot of you, and I myself, were asking him a lot of questions about the project. Now all of a sudden, you guys are worried about his future employment? As being a previous employee of the park, I understand a lot of things that should not be discussed in a public forum or social networking. I have seen some people get in a lot of trouble because of that. But why all of a sudden is everybody's opinion changing?

I myself, and I might be completely alone in this line of thinking, never really took Kiefz015 seriously. For someone to come here and create a profile and immediately become the "inside source" seemed entirely too trollish to me. IMO, his "info" wasn't that shocking either. I don't think it was anything that most of us who have followed the project couldn't make as assumptions.

As far as opinions changing of him, if you look back to the thread that the majority of his/her posts are in, there aren't many of what I consider "senior members" asking him for information. Those are the people I respect and usually listen to info and opinions they provide. I feel those members are the ones that realized what was being shared was either a violation of CP's privacy rights or not factual.

Its fine. I gave a timeline about the rest of the build season. And I can assure you that all the info i provided are actual facts. Its close enough to opening day now that you can just wait and see how everything will turn out. I answered all the questions, so lets look forward to the team finishing up this project! I can can just say it will look amazing when its all finished.

The saying goes, "Those who don't know, talk. Those who know, don't talk" (or something to that degree).

Like Nick said, you'll be hard pressed to see the senior members asking those kind of questions. There's nothing wrong with being curious and there's no persecution for asking questions (at least not from some). But there's some things that just can't be talked about and it's up to you (and everyone else) to recognize that. It may seem like a harmless question to you but having someone, who is not authorized by the park/supervisors, answer those questions can have repercussions (as previously stated).
In reality, there's nothing that we "need" to know about Gatekeeper's construction outside of what the park is and has been telling us. If you're truly curious, then the best route is to ask the right people. You can send an email to the park and you may have it answered. And if it's not, then it's either not that important or it's something that can't be discussed outside of the park.

Another choice is to bring it up (or have someone bring it up) at the group tour in March.

Just think, if we didnt have the internet, then imagine what people would be doing, itching for information about new rides and always wondering about what's going on. For example, Like back in the 80s when Iron dragon was new, demon drop, etc, they didnt even get webcam access to view rides from the parking lot or anything. All they had were commericals shown on TV close to the park's opening date. We are too spoiled with info on this ride :) why not let ourselves be surprised when the park posts pics on construction, and even better, be surprised when we are there on opening day :)

After doing this for 15 years, this is not the first person to show up and revel in the attention of obsessed kids dripping on his or her every word, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Just keep in mind that it can be a real career limiting move.

There have been times in my life where I would have believed what he said. The only thing that sounded legit, was the info about the lights (not sure who posted that)

As far as construction, I'm more than happy to follow along as Cedar Point does it.

I understand completely. I agree about finally having the luxury of having a webcam to see the construction progress and the OnPoint Blog (Facebook and Twitter also). I like to believe we're spoiled because of what we know about Gatekeeper, opposed to what we didn't know, or had lack of, back when Demon Drop, Gemini, and Iron Dragon were new for the upcoming season. However, he was a good believable source for a lot of us for the past few weeks, but the opinion from some have suddenly changed from wanting to know everything he knows, to believing his posts are now a little skeptical. Let's just thank him for the info he has provided for us thus far (whether you believe it or not). Especially seeing that he still would like to take part in forum discussion. We'll never know until we see progress on the ride with these next couple months.

It was better when there was no internet, and when the park never said much at all.

Was it though? Internet can hurt us and it can help us. As Annie pointed out earlier this year, "they're talking about us and that's what we want, right?" Without the Internet, how could they really publicize the ride and get people to come from all over the country?

Here is my 2 cents. I'm a long time reader since may 06, just started posting now. Over the years I have seen countless people come on here claiming to know everything about what Cedar Point is doing and ending up just putting their foot in their mouth. I'm not trying to rip on kiefz015 but to come on here and start sharing information about the ride the park doesn't want to release yet is just a dick move. Sorry. He and anyone else who wants to play spoiler, there not the ones spending 30 million dollars on the ride Cedar Point is, it's there ride and they have a PR and marketing department to release details about the ride let them do it! The fun part of discussing the construction is the speculation of what the final product will look like. We all have questions and wonder what the lights will be on trains or on the keyholes or what the entrance to gatekeeper will look like, those will be answered in due time. We don't need someone blabbering everything he knows about the ride from a construction buddy, who as Jeff said could probably lose his job for disclosing the information I'm sure it's a violation of there contract. It seems a lot of the longtime members ignored his posts, some of them probably know everything about the ride about are mature enough to keep that information to themselves as they know this is not the place to share it . That's all I got. Can't wait to ride this ride in May.

Maverick00,

The park didn't have a problem marketing Magnum without the internet, and the coaster paid for itself in its debut year. People lived pretty normal lives without the internet back then. Has the web helped and made things easier? Sure. It's just most of you really young users on here weren't around to experience the pre-internet days.

I am hoping the main footers for the Main Gate (keyholes) are surrounded by stack stone. I think this would look nice. Do you all know what I am referring too? This would look better than plane concrete. http://www.eldoradostone.com/products/stone/nationwide-profiles/stacked-stone/

^agreed, just what I've been thinking. I would love to see something like that, but I'm sure that have something awesome planned for those!

I would love to see some stone but not anything dark. I think brown or black stone wouldn't look too good. I think in the renderings it had light stone anyway which will look very nice.

I doubt they would have anything exactly like that, because it looks like it would be easy for people to climb. But I do think some kind of nice rock/brick/concrete pattern at the base of the towers would look nice.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

^ wow I imagine people climbing the towers :)

I posted about the lights going on the station. I posted that because it's nothing secretive. I work in the electrical field and thats all I will say. I can tell you that there is 2 Electrical Contractors working on the projects going on at the park. Firelands and All Phase Power & Lighting. 2 very good local companies.

Ride-on

I just think its funny how no one ripped on Kiefz015 until the "almighty" Jeff said anything. I mean, really? For what its worth, thanks Kiefz015 for all your info.
