Wow, I'm surprised about the ice fishing. Can you eat the fish?

You sure can. The area is not called the "Walleye Capital of the World" for nothing! Lake Erie offers excellent walley, yellow perch and smallmouth bass fishing, and the fish are fine to eat. A large number of fishing charters and head boats are available in the summer for those without boats. And, like I mentioned, ice fishing is popular in the winter. If you're a fisherman, a Lake Erie charter would be a great side trip when visiting Cedar Point. If you search for "Lake Erie Fishing" on Yahoo, you will get a ton of links.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

I have eaten a ton of Lake Erie Perch and it hasn't killed me yet.
How about a roller coaster down the causeway (and back) :)
We need a brand new woodie coaster. I gonna be real honest. I think Mean Streak and Blue Streak are extremely rough. Mean Streak is real boring and too long. We need to fix up our wood deparrment. Thats all I want for now.
The Blue Streak in the front car is so fun and not rough at all. Yes the Mean Streak is rough though. However even if you think Blue Streak is rough perhaps the new track will make it smoother. Arent they also redoing the first few hills on Mean Streak or something along that line??
Blue Streak rough? I think you've been riding too many Intamin's...all of a sudden if a ride isn't smooth as glass, it's rough. Don't go down to PKI or Holidway World, their coasters might beat you up so bad you might need to go to the emergency room!

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of # 16, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Yes, Intamin does make pretty smooth rides. Then we need an Intamin woodie!
No we don't. Intamin wooden coasters take away the roughness. That's what a wooden coaster is all about. Being wild, out of control, and just flat out crazy.

Intamin wood isn't so bad.

Look at those Intamin woodie trains. they are completely open air like MF. I'd like to try out those trains.
A few years ago, I would agree with you about getting a new woodie, but now, with two parks close to CP getting flyers, that's what we need! A huge flying B&M!
Back to the year round thread, I seem to remember at one time there was talk of a mainland casino. Don't know how possible that would be since I don't know Ohio gaming laws and how likely they could be changed.
I beleive Cincinnati has a River Boat Casino. Wouldn't Sandusky or CP be able to do the same thing out on the lake?
The gambleing in the Cincinnati area is actually in Indiana. There is no gambling in Ohio that i know of. Now if there is any sort of neutral waters in Lake Erie then a boat can take off and start the fun when it gets out far enough.
I believe it is federal law that a cruise ship cannot have on-board gambling between two US ports (and maybe not even when one end is a US port). I recall being on a short 3 day cruise from the states during which the casino was only open one night due to such restrictions. So, a Lake Erie den of sin would probably have to dock in CA, and may have to dock in one CA port, sail to another CA port, and then come back, gambling only between the two CA stops.

Edit: actually, I don't know if that was a federal statute or a state one, so it could work.

There are quite a few "gambling ships" down here in Florida. The only port of call is here. One popular one is called SunCruz Casino.

People jump on the boat around 6:00 or so and it cruises out to the legally established line that permits gambling. All of the machines turn on and away you go. About 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning the ship starts heading back in and all of the tables and machines turn off.

I don't know the legalities in Ohio but if it were legal I imagine someone would have come up with the idea by now.

How can there be neutral international waters in Lake Erie, an inland sea surrounded by the US and Canada??

If you remember Greg Reese's RCT recreation of Cedar Point. I made a triple-intamin launch coaster (Superman:The Escape) Going down the main midway. The towers where Red-White-Blue. I took out the Sky Ride though :(. Oh well.. you don't need it when you have a 500 foot blast machine in its place .. lol
