Funniest/most memorable coaster moments

Now I am sure there are other old threads about similar topics, but I thought I'd start a 2009 topic about coaster or other ride memories you've had.

Mine was opening day getting a rollback on TTD when everyone in the station got all hyped up about the constant rollbacks, like it was a rollback fest or something. Thats where I got my first rollback, and it was my friend's 6th! I know a lot of you have gotten rollbacks already, and share the same feelings. Let's hear your CP stories!

My most memorable ride in the past years was last year during HWeekends. My cousin, one of my best friends, and I rode Mille at night. Probably 10:00 or 10:30. Now as most of you know, I'm not the biggest fan of Mille. Don't really care for it all that much, but with the fog and stobes from Terror Island it made it super fun. As we were going over the 2nd overbank we could hear the BOOM from the cannon and it was just magical. My favorite ride on Mille.

Let's Get Weird.

My first ride on TTD was the first train of opening day 2007 in the front row, and I got a rollback. That was pretty memorable. And cold.

Most memorable moment so far would probably be conquering MF and TTD. Going from riding coasters with my eyes closed, to riding them front seat eyes wide open. Getting pelted with rain on Magnum a few months ago was pretty hilarious too.

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

My 15 ride marathon on Magnum at CM08 was fantastic, as was my first MF ride, my first Halloweekends ride last year (so much fog) and the two times I rode it while raining. Finally, my midnight ride on Magnum at Halloweekends 07 when the temperature was in the single digits, I looked like the Pilsburry Doughboy due to all the layers I had on and I never want to do that again but it was pretty neat, once.

^ Are you sure about that? I don't recall anything close to single digit temps during the 07 Halloweekends. That was actually the hottest Halloweekends I can remember, with daytime highs in the 90's on a few October weekends. Many Screamsters had to have face paint for several nights that year because the mask glue was sweating off. Now 06 was pretty cold, cold enough to produce snow flurries on a few nights. But I don't recall it ever getting much below 30.

^I was at one of those hot Halloweekends days in 2007, it was right around 90 most of the day and all the waits were well over an hour. I regretted making the trip up there for that.

06 was a real cold fall. I believe we got a couple inches of snow in Michigan in October that year, and closing weekend was pretty cold too.

Yeah, I definitely remember visiting CP in October '06, and wearing several layers to protect myself from the snow/sleet. Despite the temps & weather, it was one of my favorite trips to the park, probably because it was so unique.

Yeah, I remember sharing the cottage with John and it being cold. And someone got my car with Granholm signs. Ugh. :)

Wouldn't that actually improve a Ford? ;)

Bah. :P

Ecoboost is awesome.. Beyond Awesome. Thats all I have to say.

Isn't EcoBoost just a fancy moniker for direct injection? Ford's not the first one to that party, by a long shot.

2006 was when Corkscrew got the unneccessary seatbelts right? I remember their epic fail of 3-train operation. Our train left the station just as it started to sleet. We were back to the block brakes before the next train was out of the station. We not only had to wait while that one loaded, but then also while the next one was unloaded and loaded before we could finally get out. Sitting in a puddle of sleet with no way to avoid it (thanks OTSRs, you're still useless) absolutely sucked and is one of the reasons I won't ride CS if there is more than 2 train operation.

Direct Injection and Turbos.. Seriously, see if you can dig up the power graph on the new Taurus and check out how it the torque and horsepower go straight up. I've never seen anything like it and the power it puts out while maintaining the efficiency of a V6 (4cyl in some cases) is pretty amazing as well. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll send you a link.

on topic.

I rode Millennium Force the first year it was open for my first time in either the 2nd to last or last weekend the park was open that year. In a sense it was fun, but hurt really really bad. The weather was cold and terrible with sleet at times throughout the day. I wish I could get a hold of my old girlfriend who has our picture from that ride. Even though the pic is taken in the tunnel, our faces express the pain from being in the open 92mph air.

Found it, and that is impressive indeed. Still though, even combined with turbo, its not new. I think the only significant thing is that it will be throughout most of their lineup.

Brandon

Never said it was new. ;) Just awesome.

I got a good one. About three years ago three friends and I were getting on to Mantis on a HOT summer day it had to be like 95 out. We get all strapped in and the ride op yells CLEAR! train starts moving forward and as we are reaching the end of the station all you can see is a wall of rain. We got totally soaked. That was the best ride on Mantis I had ever had!

I have many awesome moments over the years, but One that was memorable for me was when my mother-in law got me on the Millennium Force for the first time. I wanted to try it, but the thought of going on that large of a coaster scared the crap out of me! Anyhow she grabbed my arm and off we went to the ride. I was doing ok until we were in the ride and heading up the hill. I am a screamer whereas my mother-in -law being the daredevil she is is usually quiet, not this time. We got to the part where it speeds up just before the first drop and she shouted out " Oh..." You can fill in the blank. Meanwhile I went to scream and nothing came out! My mouth went bone dry! I could not get any moisture back in my mouth for about 5 minutes after we got off the ride! I am so glad I rode Millie. I have rode it many times since, and now I know to make sure I drink some water so my mouth don't dry out!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
