Fright Zone on Saturday

How can you wait 45 minutes for the CP & LE Railroad? It can hold tons of people. The line can't even hold enough people for 45 minutes.
The reason why the line for the railroad was so long was because they made Fright Zone one-way, back to front. They were making announcements at the railroad crossing by MF that if you wanted to experience Fright Zone you had to start at the back and you could get to the back by taking the train.
They were probably only running one train like usual which would only be half capacity of the normal ride. I hate when they only run one train...takes 15 minutes for the next one to get there...then its normally full.
To all of you who were patient enough to wait for Millennium on Saturday, thanks. It was insane, but I think we did a kick a$$ job with the crowd that we were handed.

Drag Races: 8

There were days back in the 90's (Raptor year was the biggest ever...I believe) that were unbelievable. I am not kidding when I tell you that they parked day guests in and around Camper Village, down the road to Sandcastle, etc.

I have heard that Saturday was a record breakers in terms of Bonus Weekends. The company was certainly not prepared for it as staffing levels were very short.

I was there and even though it was very crowded, the ride lines weren't that bad. I waited a little over an hour for Raptor and about 1 hour 15 minutes for TTD after sunset. This, in my experience, isn't bad for any busy day of the year. All the coasters that I got on in the early hours were 30 minutes or less, and the rest were under an hour. Kudos to the ride crews for keeping up with the crowds.

The bad parts of the park were concessions and the Halloweekend only attractions, shows, haunted houses, ect. These all were really crowded and/or had really long lines.
I do know that this is the last Halloweekend that I go to when there is really good weather predicted.

Cedar Point Googlism

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

They were using both trains, and they were packing them to the limit. Every single available space on those trains was taken, every single circuit it made.

JohnDubya, I'm not really sure they could safely fit a whole lot more people in that park without it becoming a hazard of some sort. It was just incredibly full of people.

I did notice it seemed like there was more security present.

I was there (staying at Breakers Express) and it was packed.

There were people lined up in the regular line (not early entry) at the entrance for 2 hours before they could get in.

Near midnight it got better. there was a 10 minute line for Magnum and 5 minutes for Power Tower (up). Dragster's line was always out to the grandstands. Millennium Force's line was filled and people were lining up into the midway.

Dragster: 3 Force: 8 Twister: 9 Raptor: 9 Magnum: 16

Whoever didnt go should have. It really was not that bad sure it was crowded and the lines said that they were long but it was fine. The only long line I waited in was the Dragster.
From what I heard most of the attendance records were set in the mid 80s. Imagine two thirds of the coasters not there and how the lines would be then. Remember the park first broke 3 million annual visitors in 1978, so for 25 years the annual attendance has been pretty close.

Friday, September 18th, 2003 at 10:10 PM. It finally happened. Rollback on Dragster in the front seat of the gold train!

I was in the fright zone in the "mess." Myself, my daughter and her friend were walking through, and about halfway through we were shoulder to shoulder with other people. No one was moving and everyone was getting hot. After a bit...people started to shift a little, and I announced that I thought I was going to pass out...a man told me to "Go Ahead" and I squeezed past him with my girls behind me in single file, and we got to an empty space that was moving pretty well. After we exited at the skull (a.k.a. "Hank")...we sat there amazed at how it looked both ways.

At one point, people were climbing out of the fright zone over the wall that leads up to the skull. A family with a grandma wanted out...so we squeezed in the crowd next to the hay, pushed the crowd back and let the family out with the cute lil' ol' lady in it...the officer standing watching didn't mind. I saw Bill Sphen come check the "wall." The officers were there scratching their heads at what they should do about the crowds. At that time it was apparant they were making the skull area the entrance, after everyone got funneled out of the fright zone.

A little later we went back through, and every thing was good...even later, they finally started letting people come into the fright zone the other way. We sat back...talked with the Skull....made friends with "Harold" in the "Wall" holding up the Skull...and made friends with a screamster named "Pat." The only thing we rode this day was the train, later on in the evening.

Despite the crowd, and almost passing out in the "jam"... it was a wonderful day. So funny to see the cars parked at the toll gates though. We told the attendent that waved us to the restaurant area, (when we wanted to go to the back) that we were going to the hotel... we found a decent parking spot up close towards the Magnum entrance...we got lucky. However, we didn't get home until 3:30 a.m. We closed the park out, but traffic was stopped back at the Soak City parking lot. We pulled over by the Mean Streak and waited until we saw the traffic moving at a decent rate. I guess that's when the front lot became empty. Anyway...it was a beautiful day...and pretty fun!!! ::smile::

Just a question what have the lines been like on past Saturdays.

Im sure Cedar Point wasn't expecting a very big crowd as they did on Saturday. The gemini lines was probably all the way out and they only have 2 blue and 2 red trains. They should never have stored the other 2 trains cause it would have probably come in handy for this past Saturday.

Or they could have just not taken them off, not had a headstart on off-season maintenance, and not had the trains ready for May. With a shorter off-season, something has to give.

It was an interesting day. I was happy to see our crew handle it as well as we did. It's always interesting to see several thousand people waiting for any ride. I think it was packed like that because it was pretty much going to be the last day at Cedar Point with good weather for a long time.

Eddy the retard is awesome.

Can anybody confirm that Mean Streak's queues were nearly full on Saturday ? We're not talking about just the tunnel part directly to the entrance? All those turnstiles under the tents full...it's hard to believe. I haven't seen anyone in the tents for years (though I try to only go on uncrowded days).

I would have really liked to see this, but not be a part of it. I actually had a friend who wanted to go on Saturday, and I told him that with the outstanding weather, the constant advertising, and the tendency for people wanting to go on Saturday, attendance would be a nightmare. I didn't think it'd be this much of a nightmare though!

I can testify that the queues at Mean Streak were nearly full. A few more people (maybe a hundred or more) and it would have been full. It was crazy.

In perspective:

C.P. & L.E. Railroad - 40-45 min. wait.

Mean Streak - allmost full queues

Dragster - back of the line never got further than grandstands

Sir Rub a Dub Tubs - full queues

Disaster Transport - full queues out past Troika

Pretzels (by Dragster) - 15 minute wait

Bathroom (by Dragster) - 10 minute wait

Entering the park - 1 hour

Leaving the park (at close) - 1 hour

Power Tower (drop) - full queues

Some of us thought we would never see this day. Absolutely unbelievable.

The line for Top Thrill Dragster actually was out past the grandstand for a few hours, we were holding it off because it was so long. But we finally decided to do it because everything else was full also. When we got in line, it was between the station and the gift shop. It grew significantly behind us.

The Disaster Transport wasn't really that busy though after 6P.M. I didn't see it stretch pass Troika though because I didn't go look at it before 6. You might of saw the line for the Pharoah fun house though, that line was a fifty-five minute line that was always around Troika but Disaster Transport's alternate entrance never extended outside that I saw.

Oh yeah, here's another perspective for everyone. 2 hour line for Werewolf Canyon (though you get to see little kids cry because a werewolf walks around trying to scare kids. They got people who weren't paying attention to what was going around them. But they say it can take up to a five minute walk through but it was pretty short if you asked me. The exit signs written on the concrete wasn't good enough, I couldn't see it until I ran into the sides or something.

They might of been running two trains, it's just that some jerks just would not get off the ride. I like to ride towards the front of the car with the two seats facing each other and I went around twice and they still wouldn't get up. The train was full though and there was line that extended much past the ticker. (yes I know I was one of those jerks that wouldn't get off). Even with two trains, it wasn't going to help none.
