Fright Zone on Saturday

At the point on saturday you litteraly could not move in the fright zone it was so bad that only one guy jumped out at me. My dad had to hold on to my hoodie so he wouldnt loose me. It was crazy. did anyone have this same expirence?
It certainly was busy that night. At around 9:00 pm security made the Fright Zone one way—starting at the skull entrance and ending at Cedar Junction. In fact, I didn’t even get to walk the Fright Zone with my 8 year old
Werewolf Canyon had over a 2 hour wait to get in. We never got a chance to go through it. Same thing with the haunted houses. The lines were so long we never got into them either.

My brother did go on Sunday and talked to our friends that our ride ops. I dont know if the numbers are right, but she said that there was 60,000-80,000. I also heard that was the day the most people were there this season!

I have been visiting CP since the '70's and have never seen a crowd like what I saw yesterday before.

Next time, I'll hope for a little rain to keep attendance down... ;)

The weather was just TOO perfect.

Was the parking lot all the way to the back too? That makes the park really busy.
There was a bus trip from Eastern Michigan, So there was probably other university trips that weekend. I am so glad I cancelled my plans to go yesterday and switched it to this coming Saturday. My sister went and she said it was insanely crowded, lines for TTD were really long, more so on opening day.

The parking was atrocious. Main lot filled. Auxiliary lot filled. Soak City filled. They were parking on the grass behind the Cedar Point Rd entrance (all the way back to the bend in the road – and that was filled up as well) – I heard that they even started diverting cars (to where, I have no idea). It was an amazing sight from the Space Spiral to see the parking situation!

Every place was short-staffed (even the "outside" places like Boathouse, which had a 40 minute wait at 7pm and appeared to be out of glassware – serving in plastic cups, etc.). Lines were 10-15 deep at EVERY concession stand, throughout the entire day. Lines for rides were extremely long (for example, at 9pm Millennium Force line was through ALL queues, even the one to the left of the entrance, and out the front gate.) Top Thrill Dragster looked to be about 2 - 2 ½ hours (through all queues and out front past the grandstand) for most of the day.

It was the most people I've ever seen at the park, July 4ths and busiest summer days included. Absolutely AMAZING!!! BTW, CP did an EXCELLENT job given the circumstances and staffing. Kudos from this attendee.

P.S. 60,000 is certainly not out of the question – my uneducated guess would be higher – more like 70-80k.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millennium Force is sinking...

Yeah, they may have had a record. I cannot beleve this. I have been to Cedar Point Alot, when heading to CP, my party noticed that the road was jammed. We thought it was construction or an accident, but boy, they were almost ALL going to the point! I was so amazed!

I had to go through Guest Services (Sunday morning, Magnum entrance) to get in because I have a MiAdv season pass and the woman in there told me that she had NEVER seen a crowd like what came through Saturday.

Several Ride Ops (when asked about Saturday), said that they didn't even get home until 3 am, or later, and had to be back a 8 am this morning.

They did a great job dealing with the mess that was yesterday. They paid for it having to show up for today.

Kudos to them!

I feel bad, this young lady on the Mean Streak Crew was offended by a passenger. He swore at her, can you get removed from the park for offending a staff member?

Friday was even insane. The main lot was half-full, and I've seen fewer cars on weekdays in May. With undoubtedly crappy attendance the last few weekends, this is exactly what they needed to make it worth their while.

What time does the water show start?

Yes the parking lot was full by 5 PM when we go there. There were people so desperate that they were looking for a parking spot at 75 K and couldn't find anything. People were parked in the grass, I was one of hundreds of cars that parked on the marked pedestrian walkway going down the main roadway at the park. There was a very long line of traffic before you could even get to the booths where thy were collecting money for parking. There was nowhere for cars to go.

CROWDED MIDWAYS? Yes, Fright Zone was closed off earlier than 9 I believe. But it made the whole park a fire hazard.

MILLENIUM FORCE? Did anybody mind to wait in line? I just looked at it and I didn't see it that bad since opening season for that ride. I mean, it didn't extend out of the queu, by MUCH!!!

COLD PRETZEL? They were so busy, I wouldn't be shocked that they didn't give it to you straight out of the Freezer. This is all becoming hilarious, I hope I became part of some record.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

WOW, insane it was. As much as you wished the lines would die down by the end of the day, they never did. Millenium Force stayed 2+ hours all day, as well as Dragster. Mean Streak and Wicked Twister even had 1-2 hour waits! It was nuts. Yet I still had TONS of fun. I had always wanted to go to CP on a day like this and see the park shine in it's brilliance. It sure was amazing.

What is the capacity of the park? There is only a certain number of people the park can safely hold in case of an emergeny. It looks like the park was very close to this number. If you couldn't move in the midways, isn't that dangerous? Imagine all those people panicking all at once!

Ok, you say it was the 49th busiest day in park history, but was it the #1 busiest Halloweekends day ever?

I heard attendance was finalized around 53,000 people. To give all of you some perspective, this was the busiest the park has been since July 4th, 1999. By far the busiest halloweekends day ever.

In perspective:

C.P. & L.E. Railroad - 40-45 min. wait.

Mean Streak - allmost full queues

Dragster - back of the line never got further than grandstands

Sir Rub a Dub Tubs - full queues

Disaster Transport - full queues out past Troika

Pretzels (by Dragster) - 15 minute wait

Bathroom (by Dragster) - 10 minute wait

Entering the park - 1 hour

Leaving the park (at close) - 1 hour

Power Tower (drop) - full queues

Some of us thought we would never see this day. Absolutely unbelievable.
