Free Tickets for employees

Umm, to start off....dont EVER call me "Meggie"!! Another thing, exactly how old are you? Because, to me...Cedar Point is the best job any college student could have. Now, if you're older...than its good that you're not "livin the carny life" and it is time for you to get a "real job". Also, I could seriously care less about Disney and how much it is to get into that joke of a park...or should I say "parks". I was going to do the College Program this past season and I just saw how much of a waste it would be. I recently went to Disney World with a close friend of mine and I must say, that is the worst place ive been to. I mean, when I was a kid; it was amazing. But its so not worth that much. So, I think it would be a good idea if you, all your crap that you post on here and your Disney BS would just go elsewhere. Actually, no...its not my place to say that...say what you want. And ill just enjoy all the people commenting back to you on here that cant seem to stand you.

Explain to me how Cedar Point is the best job a college student could have. Working at Cedar Point is a lot of fun but its hardly a great job. For example, my friend is an intern with AMD (the computer processor company) making 22 dollars. Similar positions with Apple or Microsoft pay just as much and they even pay for housing.

Brian...me + you = tickle parties

I lurve you, Mr. Westbay...and another thing...I think me and "SoakCity2006" has things cleared up.

Okay, I'll put the caution tape back, then. Cedar Point may not be the ideal summer job for the college student that knows exactly what they want to do with the rest of their life, but for everyone else (including me!), it suits us just fine.

^I'll agree to that. For the moment, CP fits perfectly... I'm almost 25, I'm going through a divorce/separation, I just moved back to Ohio from CA, I don't have my driver's license, and I need a steady job for a while so I can save up some money and start my life back over.

On the other hand... I never could afford college and I'd eventually like to be a flight attendant but a ride operator's my other dream job, so... I'll take what I can get :)

Either way, CP works for me (I hope I fit into the "everyone else" category with what I just said).

Oh, and on topic... about the 4 free tickets, if I give them to my family, they'll only have to pay for 1 adult and 1 child so the tickets work for me too!

35 more days!

(edited for stupidity... lol)

So if you want more than four tickets, you would just go to HR, and they would give you extras discounted? And... What if family is coming up before that 28 days, what could I do?

With school and internships that will soon be taking up all of my time, this summer could be my last opportunity to work at CP.

They discontinued discounted tickets last season.

As for if you're family were coming but before 28 days, first consider that it's 30 and not 28, and then realize, there's nothing you can do about it. That's simply how the rule works.

I don't understand why anyone would say working at Cedar Point is'nt a real job, because this will be my 5th season, and I enjoy it. I almost did'nt work at CP, when I went to process in the line was so long, that I almost got back into my car and left. Something told me, just get in line, and do it. I'm glad I did, because I made aso many good friends, and had a great time. Cedar Point IS a real job, and with the way times are now, a job at CP just might be a real lifesaver. I'm already working, getting our shops ready for opening day, and I won't be done working till November 21ST. That's 8 months, not bad for a seaosnal job. Enjoy your free tickets!

That's my position as well, as I'm really hoping to get into the Disney College Program next year during spring semester, and from there, hopefully a full internship position with the Mouse. As much as I love Cedar Point, I can't ignore the fact that if I do well at Disney, I can move along with a true career much faster than I can at Cedar Point, or, any Cedar Fair park for that matter.

As for free employee tickets, my mom ended up giving them to a family/group of about 8, so that really made their day.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I think Cedar Point is fair with the 4 Tickets when I worked their My Family would come up for a week and I had Friends that didn't won't or need there tickets so I would ask them if I could use there's to get my family in and it would work out.... then one year i didn't need them and that person did So I gave them Mine.... Folks let's remember Cedar Point doesn't have to give them to you so I would consider it a Kind Jester on their part and enjoy them for yourself but Remember SELLING OF YOUR COMP TICKETS IS GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION

If they gave away more tickets they would make more money, at least from my friends. If I had 10 tickets to give away, I guarantee 10 of my friends would come and spend money in the park. Without those free tickets they won't come.

Do I have to ACK you over this?!

I have merely skimmed this topic, but I have a few things to add. As far as the whole "Cedar Fair is the best company ever to work for" garbage, are you people kidding me?! Yes, I love Cedar Point, and yes I absolutely love working there... but this is in no way due to the efforts of the company. The rides themselves and the people that we work with is what makes it such an amazing place to work. The company couldn't care less about you and believe that they can replace you in a second if need be. They are consistently lowering the bonus every year and will use any excuse possible to strip anyone of their hard-earned bonus before the end of the season. They screw hard working employees over time and time again in a number of different ways. Tons of favoritism is spread throughout the park as well. So yes, I too love working at Cedar Point, but I refuse to praise management that for one thing doesn't understand the proper staffing of rides and for another thing just plain couldn't be bothered with caring.

Secondly, MeanStreak'07, you have a nasty mouth on you. Just because you disagree with someone's opinion does not mean that yours is necessarily right. You should be able to present your opinion without tearing other people down or trying to make them look stupid; the point of this place is for discussion after all. Furthermore, the little segment where you rabbled on about hating Disney and how you would never even consider working for another company besides Cedar Fair, exemplifying your loyalty, was quite funny. Now, I'm not sure if this is in fact true or not just to be clear, but at one point I heard that you had applied for the Disney College Program and were obsessed with everything about it until they rejected you. Just something to think about before you go spouting your mouth off all over the site next time.

On the actual topic of this thread, I could have actually used more than 4 tickets the last two seasons. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any, but I don't think it would hurt them too badly to offer a few more. This should especially be the case if all of you are right and many people don't even plan to use them in the first place.

Also, take a moment to peruse the thread "2008 Pay Scale" where a large number of valid opinions have been expressed. I believe the following quote from MDOmnis sums up how many people feel:
"Thepride I had for MY RIDE motivated me. Beyond that, I did feelunappreciated, overworked, underpaid, and sometimes even lied to. It'seasy to see how someone without a love for the park doesn't make itthrough July." I at least know for a fact that it is a dead ringer for how I felt about the entire set-up.

Oh yeah, and don't even get me started on housing.

Excuse me, but I do not have a "nasty" mouth on me. Im just giving my opinion like everyone else. To be honest, the only person I had a problem with on here was "SoakCity2006" and we have things cleared up between one another. Just because our conversation about that isnt posted on here; I guess you can say im lying. Whatever. Most people on here catch onto me. I joke. Im sarcastic. But in no way am I trying to "tear other people down or make them feel stupid." And as far as Disney goes, you have no idea how ive ever felt toward that place and you have idea if I was accepted or "rejected". Im glad I didnt do it. I just need to finish up with actual school.

Can you get discounted season passes?

No.

Please don't yell at me if this was stated earlier. :)

On the FAQ page on cedarpoint.com is states that "as an employee you enjoy free access to Cedar Point, the Soak City waterpark..."

Then what is this 4 tickets thing about? Is that extra tickets for family/friends? Or is that how many we get and the FAQ page just spices it up a bit?
