Food in the Park

I think CP should add some fast food joints inside the park. Kinda like GL has some. I vote for a Chipotle. Who thinks that, adding those food places would be a good idea.

While I'm all for Chipotle food, the last thing we need is fast food crap that I can eat anywhere else (for a fifth of the price) inside the park. Johnny Rockets blows (in part because the service consistently sucks) and that's already one too many places.

I think the park demonstrated with Donut Time that they can do a good job building a signature eatery in the park on their own terms. Now if they can apply the same thing around the park and improve the quality of typical burgers and pizza, while offering healthy alternatives like fruit and vegetarian-friendly foods, that would be something.

I agree, they did a good thing with Donut Time, but I can't exactly eat Donuts for lunch or dinner, they're defenitly a good snack for a good price, but I'd like something besides burgers, and sandwiches for lunch or dinner. So if they could do something like they did with donut time but for lunch, that'd be good.

Can't wait for 07 season!

Some of the food offerings at the park are really good, but some of it is just plain bad. However, while there is room for improvement, I do not believe that the selection improves all that much when a park resorts to adding a fast food franchise. It's the same stuff I can purchase outside the park any day. Shouldn't a trip to the amusement park be an escape from everyday life, or did I miss the point?

BTW, has anyone tried the new selections at Los Gatos Cafe?

The food wish that I have for the park is healthy alternatives (besides just grilled chicken sandwiches) at the food stands. I just don't understand why I either have to go to a sit down restaurant or my car to get food that isn't fried, too much meat, or all sugary.

I'd love to see fresh veggies offered as a side, better salads (similar to what McDonalds, et al.) have, and fresh fruit that doesn't come candied or carameled. If they can cater to the "value meal" crowds, why can't they get more healthy stuff out of the restaurants and into the Stockade, etc. so that I don't have to give up so much riding time?

Heaven knows CP would see more of my money spent in the park. Until this changes, I'll continue to spend my money at the grocery stores, and keep hauling my cooler.

The vast majority of people don't go to CP or any amusement park for that matter to eat veggies & fruits, I understand what you're saying and it would be a good idea, I just don't see it happening.

Can't wait for 07 season!

I realized that you can eat a bit more healthier for about the same price if you have Joe Cool and head over to Lighthouse Point. Even without the Joe Cool discount, the food is fantastic.

You mean except for people that are vegetarians? Contrary to popular belief, not everyone eats with total disregard for what they take in.

Yeah, Jeff. But most don't think about THAT. It's just too gross.

That's my Jeff. :)

This is a sore point with me because I believe it is where Cedar Point is failing the public. It's difficult for vegetarians to find anything at all to eat when visiting the park. The foods I've found are iceberg lettuce salads (yuck), french fries, popcorn, pretzels and breadsticks. What can you make a meal out of? I haven't asked whether or not the pasta sauce and pizza sauce is vegetarian (sometimes made with beef). Consider other parks like Universal which offer fresh watermelon, grapes and other assorted fruits at the juice stands, even veggie sushi is available!

Johnny Rockets has a garden burger on its normal menu, but it is not offered at CP. Fridays still offers a few dishes that can be made vegetarian (gardenburgers, salads, soups, etc.).

If you're vegan, forget about it. Only a few items are consumable.

And those of us who do - don't get to ride MF! :)

The only thing other than CP that Steelers and Browns fans agree on

I wouldn't call cheese-on-a-stick health food!

Cheese-on-a-stick is (a) dairy, (b) covered in breading made with eggs, and (c) cooked/handled/prepared in a food stand that also makes corn dogs and other fried meat products. Not to mention it is completely gross. :)

The restaurant inside the big "rock" overlooking the lake in the Neptune area at IOA has shrimp sushi (but they will make it veggie only if you ask). There were some other places that had good veggie alternatives, but I can't remember them now. :( And there's lots of restaurants nearby that have veggie-friendly food as well (walking distance from the park, unlike CP).

Has anyone in here been to Famous Daves? What kind of food do they offer there? And I never said there was anything wrong with it, I simply said I don't see it happening.

Can't wait for 07 season!

Why not?
Scott, I have not been to Famous Dave's, but I know it is a BBQ place, so it is probably not the place to look for vegetarian or otherwise healthy eating. I would also like to see more vegetarian options at CP and if there is enough demand for it, it could happen. Many people are trying to eat healthier now, so we may see it in the future. Oh, and that sucks about Johnny Rocket's not having the garden burger. I've had it before and it's pretty good.

Cause if it was gonna happen, it would have happend a long, long time ago. Cedar Point/Cedar Fair obviously don't see any profit in it or they would have done it.

Can't wait for 07 season!

I agree, they should offer the option for it, ecspecially with the "low carb" thing sweeping the US. Maybe if you went to park ops. and suggested something about it, and got enough people to do the same, they would possibly add it.

Can't wait for 07 season!

Just like they didn't see the profit in selling donuts until last year.

Honestly, the absence of something doesn't make it a trend. Doesn't anyone remember that just two or three years ago the idea of people eating a meat-centric diet was insane? (It still is, but people don't think so.)

I swear, every other post on here this week is, "Cedar Point will/won't do this because," backed up with some nebulous claim of a "trend" that doesn't mean anything.
